Michelle Baharier moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Michelle Baharier, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Request reason:

I have made all the changes that were asked by the administrators regarding the changes to my (first) entry. These are constructive edits not disruptive ones? Clumie (talk) 06:07, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yamla (talk) 10:14, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

(I'm responding here, as you have placed your unblock request here.) Firstly, no, you did not remove all the promotion from the article. The title itself was promotional, there were several inappropriate promotional links in the article text (which should contain none), and there was still a fair bit of promotional language. That aside, however, the primary problem was that when the title you were using was protected, then instead of either discussing that with the administrator who imposed the protection or submitting the article via articles for creation, you attempted to end-run around the protection by just changing the title. You absolutely must not do that. Does that make clearer what the block is for? Seraphimblade Talk to me 06:50, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Clumie. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:26, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for message. Your draft has no chance of being accepted as it stands

  • it did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that she meets the notability guidelines. It is now Wikipedia policy that biographical articles about living people must have independent verifiable references, as defined in the link, or they will be deleted. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the subject or her organisation company, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what she claims or interviewing her. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls. Your only ref was her own website, clearly not an independent third-party source, and a source that is unintelligible as formatted
  • It's not clear to me how she meets the notability criteria I've linked above. If she doesn't she won't get an article
  • it was written in a promotional tone, even using her first name, which is too informal . Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of unsourced or self-sourced claims and opinions presented as fact include: whose work explores the human condition though sound, video, painting, installation poetry and performance... She is a pioneer in the field of feminist art and community activism. Her entrepreneurship which draws on the field of peer learning has substantially influenced public health policy in England, specifically well-being. Critical pyschology which sprung from controversy within psychiatry is now well-established as a discipline within academia and originally contested fields of scholarship have now become the well established terrains of subjectivity and open science. no facts, just opinions. and that's just the first para
  • there shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections. That's particularly the case when they are spamlinks to affiliated sites.
  • Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial and text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.

Please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read Your first article.

I suggest that you look at biographies such as Pamela C. Rasmussento get an idea of layout and referencing. You don't have to use the fancy reference templates, just <ref>[url description]</ref> for web refs or <ref>[publication details]</ref> for books etc will do. If you want to reply, you can do so on my talk page. You can alternatively leave a message on this page, and I will know you have done so if you start it with my user name, User:Jimfbleak and sign it with four tildes ~~~~ when you post it. That will send me an alert.

I see that you uploaded File:Michelle Portrait.jpg to commons. There you said that the picture is by Michelle Baharier ‎ and also that it is a picture of Michelle Baharier. Do understand that the author of a photo, the person it is "by", is normally the person who clicks the button to take the photo, not the person it is a picture of. So this seems contradictory to me. I am not an admin on commons, but ai have left a note there on the image's talk page. If the picture is really by soemoen else, please indicate who and more clearly indicate the source. News photos are usually subject to copyright protection. If this is a news photo, please explain how it came to be released into the public domain. If it isn't a news photo, please clarify where it came from. Thank you. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 20:02, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've nominated the image for deletion. The claimed licence is clearly false, the image is taken from [https://www.southwarknews.co.uk/news/artist-to-share-stories-and-hidden-legacies-of-women-during-suffragette-city-night-walk/michelle-baharier/ this page, which is clearly tagged Southwark News Limited or its affiliated companies. A tag has been placed on Michelle Baharier, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Help me![edit]

Please help me with... Are we not allowed to make entries about others under any circumstances? So if I was to resume as an editor I could not make an entry about another (living person) person under any guise or circumstances? Please let me add that I do understand why I have been blocked and would like to make a positive contribution which is why I am writing this message. Kind regards Clumie (talk) 09:34, 25 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you are asking this question, you do not understand why you were blocked. You were blocked because you attempted to evade the protection from creation on an article by recreating it under a different title. If a potential article is protected from creation, there is usually a good reason and you should not just attempt to create it elsewhere, there is a process to challenge such things. It's also clear from the posts on this page that you don't really understand the process of creating an article or its requirements. I suspect that any unblock request that you make will need to include an agreement to refrain from creating new articles or drafts until you build up a good edit history on existing articles demonstrating that you understand what goes into an article. Agreeing to refrain from editing about Michellle Baharier may also be asked of you. 331dot (talk) 10:07, 25 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for clarifying! I will do as you suggest.
