A tag has been placed on Kony 2012, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

Cmartincaj (talk) 14:53, 6 March 2012 (UTC) I do understand how this seems like advertisement; I am not affiliated with Invisible Children Inc. I did, however, see that as Wikipedia did not have an entry for Kony 2012, to create it. It was a speed job, and I apologize for not even putting in citations--I saw a need for people to have a general idea what Kony 2012 was, and in good hope that the community would develop it. Again, I do apologize as it was a speed job, done with faith that the community would develop the page, and that I did not do a better job at creating or even drafting it. I humbly request that Kony 2012 not be deleted, but listed as a stub requiring development, and an article in need of sources. If those measures are taken, I believe that Kony 2012 will be a good article.[reply]

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. DreamFieldArts (talk) 13:32, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Kony 2012 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Movement is not yet notable for inclusion on Wikipedia. Also, Wikipedia is not a venue for promotion.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. —Ryulong (竜龙) 04:55, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the notice. I'm seeing that the article is being gradually developed as sources are found and people are wanting to know about the idea/movement. I have added to the discussion page, but as seeing that the article has been developed with many additions and edits in the past 27 hours, I do not see a need for this page to be deleted. I have also found a source that opposes the idea/movement with multiple sources, to comply with the neutrality policy of Wikipedia, that can be found at the discussion page for deletion of the article. -- Cmartincaj (talk) 16:28, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
