Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Surf Art, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Islam and the arts
I see you have a history of working on the article Islam and the arts. I am looking at it from the project Wikipedia:Unreferenced articles where it is one of the longest {{unreferenced}} tagged articles that does not meet at least the barest minimum of verifiability. It has been tagged and completely without references since June 2006. It would be extremely helpful if you had some references you could add to the article to help support its verifiability and notability. Thanks for any help you can give. London River Services launches new Spring/Summer timetable.
London Underground's District line fleet, which has undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment, is now complete and all trains are now back in service for passengers, 11 months early and under budget.

Image bank
The new WikiProject London Transport image bank has launched! This section will be used to store our members images of London Transport to make it easier for visitors and our members themselves to find images they want.
Lately we have been updated our HTML codes to make our project pages look more modern. Examples of this includes the new Requests page and our main page. We hope to continue this modernisation in order to help our members and visitors have a better expierience looking through our project pages. Also keep an eye out for the 'new look' Metro due in next months issue!

New projected advertising has appeared on London Underground platforms. The new system uses silent moving projected pictures to advertise products. The system automatically shuts off when a train enters the station. Following the successful trial at Euston Tube station; Piccadilly Circus, Euston, Bank, Liverpool Street and Bond Street have now been kitted out with High Definition projectors and giant soundless screens.
Transport for London takes over Tramlink services.
The Rotherhithe tunnel has celebrated its centenary.
Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, announced funding of £1m to trial low carbon technology in London's taxi fleet.

WPLT slowdown
Unfortunately there has been a slowdown in contributions lately. This shows through the lack of responses and nominations for the Portal's selected articles and images. There has also been a lack of contributions to articles other than images. Therefore I, UNI|SOUTH the founder of WikiProject London Transport, am giving out a message to all the participants talk pages requesting them to indicate that they are active.

Green Park is to be revamped ahead of 2012 Olympics.
A revamped cyclists section of the TfL website calls on cyclists to share experiences and knowledge.

Initial London LEZ results prove positive with lower emissions for 12-tonne vehicles compared to one year ago.
Shadwell DLR station upgrade has helped to cut crime.
Whilst traffic levels are down generally, congestion in some areas of the Congestion Charge Zone is back up to to pre-zone levels after five years, due to infrastructure upgrade work.
The Underground station at Blackfriars is to close in March 2009 for 2 ½ years as part of the Thameslink Programme's upgrade. The mainline station will remain open during this period.
British Transport Police launch London Underground Neighbourhood Policing Teams to increase security at stations and cut down on crime. These are deployed over the London Underground and Docklands Light Railway networks.

Taxi fares may rise if fuel prices increase.
Oyster cards suffer technical difficulties near the end of July.
Trains on the Bakerloo Line that terminated a Willesden Junction now terminate at Stonebridge Park, increasing services also to four stations including some earlier and later trains.
The second phase of the London Low Emission Zone has begun, affecting buses and coaches, and lorries over 3.5 tonnes, amongst others. A 28 day warning i given for those who do not comply.

General
A new feature was introduced to geography articles recently showing the nearest transport links, after discussion.
The portal still sees to be only gaining contributions on the selected article and picture area. It seems there is a general lack of interest in the portal. There seemed to be controversy over whether to use the Suicide Bridge picture as the selected picture or whether the Jacob Ebstein statues should be used. This was in July. The August Image is yet to be decided.
There have been so major changes and conversions with the stations infobox (and possibly others).
Sorry for this edition being late as I was on holiday. This is still in its current format. The recent subscriptions and other things show there is still an interest in this. This project would not be here without its many contributors to the project.
Please provide any suggestions for any improvements to this newsletter and any comments or anything else to include in the next issue. Please can ideas be given for a better layout on this newsletter. Feedback is much appreciated.

General
On the assessment side, there are still a lot of articles that need to be assessed for their importance to this project and their general quality. Over the past couple of weeks, interest in assessment of articles has also generally fallen. Of the current 1714 articles, 415 have not ben assessed for quality, also of which 404 have not had their importance to the project assessed either. Please can there be an effort to do this, just like an effort was done to one the articles in UK Railways.
However, congratulations to all the people involved in getting Charing Cross, Euston and Hampstead Railway to featured status. Well done for this achievement.
Please can people become more involved with other areas of the portal. The portal still seems to be only gaining contributions on the selected article and picture areas. It seems there is still a general lack of interest in the portal other than these areas. The statues issue has also been sorted as last month's image.
As usual, this issue is in the current format and is still awaiting suggestions for other improvements. No new Did You Knows were available for this so have not been included.

Oh no, is he really? *Groan* This is the kind of experience that sucks all the joy out of Wikipedia and puts me right off contributing anything at all. He is well out of order in my view, but I am walking away from this - to continue attempting discussion will just make him worse. Thanks for the invitation to contribute, but it looks like anything on this subject is a lightning rod for the wrath of territorial editors who want to stick a big "keep out" sign on anything they feel they own. The contracts for the Thameslink upgrade have been awarded to Balfour Beatty including the flagship Blackfriars station rebuild.
The new Docklands Light Railway trains have been reavealed at West India Quay station on the 13th March 2008.
Heathrow Terminal 5 opened on the 27th March 2008.
The TfL website celebrated 1 year since its relaunch on the 22nd March 2007.
The London Overground will be receiving 7 more 4-car trains in late 2009/early 2010.
