October 2023: Page nos on book sources[edit]

When you cite a book, page numbers are needed. Please add the pages to this recent edit. You can use the template {{rp}}. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 07:09, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I see similar here, and in most of your edits; you will need to go back and add page numbers on all of your edits sourced to books. Content on Wikipedia must be verifiable, and we can't expect readers to read an entire a book to verify material. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 07:12, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I had thought that was the case but had noticed on Angela Davis' article page numbers weren't cited for her autobiography I'll change that I'll add those in a bit I just woke up Commie Cosmo (talk) 11:31, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Often you will find book sources that aren't correctly cited, and often you will find the editors who added them are long gone, so it's not possible to ask them for the page numbers, which is why it's good to get on this with a new editor right away :) I've corrected your additions here to reflect singular (rather than plural page numbers) and ref names for the same page. If you use a lot of books, you might want to eventually learn how to use short footnotes (sfns), but that's for another day. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 13:57, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OOps, fixed. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 13:59, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I'm still pretty new to this so I appreciate telling me about my mistakes and helping me out with them. Commie Cosmo (talk) 14:07, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you want to learn a more efficient way to cite books, have a look at Tourette syndrome#Book sources, and then see how those books are cited in text with sfns. It's trickier to learn, but easier in the long run to use. Good luck, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 14:17, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you I'll do that Commie Cosmo (talk) 14:19, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
