File source and copyright licensing problem with File:FirstWest.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:FirstWest.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 18:50, 31 December 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Shubinator (talk) 18:50, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:FirstWest wordmark.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Orphaned non-free image File:FCF logo.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:FCF logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Launi Skinner[edit]

The problem with your article, as written, was that it didn't cite any real reliable sources; it was sourced entirely to the credit union's own website (failing the requirement that sources be independent of the subject themselves), to one 30-word blurb on CNN's website (failing the requirement that sources be to substantial media coverage) and to a corporate awards page that merely listed her name (which actually manages to fail both of those previous requirements simultaneously). Notability on Wikipedia isn't a matter of "if she's achieved X, Y or Z, then she's entitled to an article"; it's a question of whether you can add sources which demonstrate that real media have given her real coverage.

If, say, Report on Business did a cover story on her, or the Financial Post quoted her extensively in an article on the changing role of women in the business world, those would certainly qualify as real sources. But it's really just not good enough to point to a couple of pages which demonstrate that she exists but fail to provide any substantial information about her — because notability on here is not a question of being able to tick off specific accomplishments on a checklist, but of being able to demonstrate that those accomplishments have actually led real media to actually give her real and meaningful coverage.

I'd be happy to restore the page to your own userspace for you, so that you can work on it at your leisure — it'll be at User:Communications gal/Launi Skinner. But it simply doesn't meet our inclusion rules as written — and that's not a comment on her worth as a person or her skill as a business executive, it's just that the article itself isn't doing a good enough job of explaining why she might belong in an encyclopedia. It's the depth and quality of the sources that can (or can't) be added that determine whether an article can be included here or not, not a judgement on her as a person. License tagging for File:Valley First Logo.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Valley First Logo.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 19:05, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
