Re your note at File:Horizon brand new.jpg

Per WP:NFCC #1, where it says "...or could be created", we do not retain non-free content until such time as free content is available if free content CAN be created. One or more planes now exist in this livery. All it takes to generate the free content is for a Wikipedia editor to take a photograph of one and upload it here under a free license. --Hammersoft (talk) 22:07, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

  • Another case example; Livestrong Sporting Park. This stadium just recently completed construction. While it was under construction we permitted the use of the artist's conception image File:SKC stadium.png. Civility in edit summaries

With all due respect, that edit summary wasn't very nice. The user has been helpful in a variety of other articles, a simple undoing of his edits with a more helpful explanation would have been more appropriate, especially since it's a very common mistake. Alaska Airlines

Hi, I disagree with you reverting the edit to Alaska Airlines. The reason i removed it because of This Policy. Thats just the rules, i dont make them. To have this information in the table it would be against the policy. --JetBlast (talk) 02:29, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

I've seen this policy before, but I had no idea that it discouraged the information you removed. The policy page isn't really clear, as it doesn't specifically state that inflight entertainment (IFE) info is not to be included in the table. If it did say "You should not put any information about the type of inflight entertainment installed on certain aircraft types" then I wouldn't have reverted your edit.
Also, many other airline articles list stuff about In-flight entertainment in their table. Anyway the Wikiproject Airlines policy is not all that clear as to what goes in tables and what doesn't. This should be brought up on the WikiProject Airlines talk page before you remove this info from other airlines' tables. And I'm probably not going to be the only user reverting your edits. It clearly sates "Other material should be limited to seating, aircraft on order and route information" - So this means do not include anything else, for example WIFI and IFE. It cant start listing things not to include as it would be unmanageable, so it has listed the things to only include in the table. Image requests

Hi! Let's review this:

"Remove image requests--do we really need images for every single office in other countries?"

  • Yes.
    • But maybe one or two office pics for every article, not every office in every single country for every single company. Just ones that can be clearly signified - That means one or two office pics per airline
  • The trick with image requests is to put them in as many appropriate places as possible. And just because I have a "requested image" doesn't necessarily mean that it will be used in the final article per se, but it will go in the commons.
  • You can't just ask on the commons. You have to ask on EN too. If there is a local language (DE, ES, FR, AR, JA, etc) you ask on that one too
  • For Iran Air I am asking for multiple office pics, since we can:
    • A. pick and choose which one is the best
    • B. Use them on Japanese, German, Italian, etc. Wikipedias
  • Even if the intention is to use the pics on non-English Wikipedias, you should still ask on EN because English is widely spoken around the world

Looking at commons:Category:Iran Air, there is indeed a photo of the airline's Japanese office, see File:Akasaka Habitation Building -01.jpg. (I know that the image request says "Do a closeup version with the facility open!" and that the particular image isn't a closeup, but an image of the whole building may be more recognizable to readers.) There's also an image of the Schiphol (Netherlands) World Trade Center, where Iran Air has an office. Both of the aforementioned images are in the articles of their respective languages. But as of yet, there's no image for any of the other offices requested on the talk page. —Compdude123 (talk) 01:36, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

As a note, the current Japanese image portrays the garage door closed, meaning you can't see the inside of the Iran Air office. What I want is an image where you can see the inside, during normal business hours, like File:66-68 Piccadilly.jpg

Nepal Airlines

Thanks for clearing up the ambiguity here. I wouldn't know a 757-200M from any other. Sadly this article seems to suffer from rather high levels of vandalism and tendentious editing, so thanks for helping to get it back on track :) Pol430 talk to me 19:07, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

You're welcome! Anyway, they are the only ones to operate the 757-200M. They just operate one -200M aircraft, and I believe their other 757 is just a regular 757. Transaero

You removed quite a few of my edits. I can agree with removing the edit about flying scrap. But you also removed properly substantiated notes from the... NOTES section. Is there a reason for that? Nomad (talk) 11:54, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

They just appeared to put a negative bias on Transaero. Your mention of Transaero operating the oldest fleet among Russian airlines wasn't sourced. I don't know about whether it operates one of the oldest fleets in the world because Iran Air operates MUCH older aircraft (their avg. fleet age is 22.8 years!) and so does Saha Air (they're the last commercial operator of the 707). Transaero's avg. fleet age, by comparison is 16.2 years, according to Airfleets.net. That's not much older than the three large US airlines, Delta (15.5 years), American (15.1 years), and post-merger United (14 years). Ok, Transaero may operate some old aircraft but they're not much older than these “Big Three” US airlines. And your sentence that says “Experts believe that expanding a fleet in such a way is economically inviable for this type of airline” was not sourced so that got the axe too. Same with the thing you posted in the cabin section. If you have a source, go ahead and re-add the information. Well, you are doing what Transaero do - you're comparing them to huge airlines. Delta has over 1600 airplanes and their average age is suffering from their fleet of immortal MD80's. And that's not a fair comparison - we all know that the pilots delivering the last A380 to the scrap yard will fly home on an MD-80. Transaero, on the other hand, has very few planes and ALL of them are old.
As for cabins differences, my only proof would be links to Airliners.net photographs that clearly show the difference in both colors and amenities. Would that be enough in your opinion? Nomad (talk) 12:16, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
You think I'm "doing what Transaero does" in comparing them to huge airlines? Well maybe, but they aren't the only airline that purchases second-hand aircraft. And you have to keep a neutral point of view on Wikipedia and not add whole bunch of negatively biased info, but at the same time you don't want to make it appear to be written by the airline's marketing department. Aside from that, the biggest reason why I removed the info is that it did not have a reliable source. And about the cabin info, I'm not sure if a photo is really a reliable source. And also info about cabin amenities on each and every aircraft is not necessary and makes an article look like a travel guide, and you do not want WP articles to look like that. —Compdude123 (talk) 02:06, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

Airline Collapsable List - Hubs

Clearly we are not agreeing on this as we keep reverting each others edits. Your discussion hasn't gone anywhere so I think just me and you need to talk. Collapsable list if necessary (which it is) for Delta and United with there 10 hubs it is certainly necessary for Southwest's 12. But in general we need to fix what we are not agreeing on as we are getting NOWHERE. Will hear back from you soon. Cali4529 (talk) 05:28, 19 January 2012 (UTC)

I agree US doesn't need it and AA if they get anymore hubs or focus cities will but not yet... so I guess we have to agree on what airlines need it (talking American carriers). I am thinking B6, WN, DL, UA and the rest are fine right now without it. But we need to figure this out because its just us not agreeing because no one else cares... lol. My view on whether or not it needs collapsible is this: Does it get so long that it protrudes into the history section when I expand all the collapsible lists? If yes, I keep the lists the way they are. If no, which is almost always the case, then I get rid of the collapsible lists. Clearly, in my opinion, it has to do with how it looks visually, not just a certain number of hubs/ focus cities. In the case of Southwest Airlines, well, the lead just needs to be longer and then it will be all right. The lead is much shorter than it's supposed to be and if we expand the lead, that will make it so that the infobox will be just fine without the stupid collapsible lists. With United, I'm not going to even bother changing it because the collapsible lists are indeed necessary but with Southwest and its soon-to-be-expanded (by me) lead, said collapsible lists will no longer be necessary. I also think that Pan Am's infobox could greatly use a collapsible list, or have some of the info moved out of the infobox and into other sections. Some of those items we have in infoboxes could use some trimming, like key people, we should only have founder, CEO, President, and Chairman, and not other info.

BTW, have you noticed that in the JetBlue Airways infobox, the president is listed twice? That oughta be fixed... —Compdude123 (talk) 06:03, 19 January 2012 (UTC)

(Note: I understand why you'd want me to post this on the article's talk page, but since it's just the two of us in disagreement, let's just sort it out between the two of us first, but if we can't come to an agreement then I'll post this on the article's talk page and get a "third opinion.")

I would like to know why you like that other close-up picture better, but first I am going to tell you the reasons why I think the DC-10 picture is better. United was the launch customer (along with AA) for the DC-10. Considering that, it's a better use of space to have an image like that then to have an image of a livery that I believe was only used for a few years before United hired Saul Bass to design a new livery (which was the Rainbow Scheme that was used for nearly 20 years) and logo (the tulip). The DC-10 image probably should mention the fact that United was a launch customer for the aircraft, though. And I don't even think that the DC-10 in the picture was even painted in the stars and bars livery. And also, since the history section in this article is really just a summary with a link to the main article, that means that the pictures here really should be ones of much importance. Why do you think having a close-up picture of a livery that was used for just a few years is more important and notable than having a picture of an aircraft used for 20+ years? Please explain to me below. Finally, you ought to know that I did not take that picture nor did I upload it to WP nor add it to this article. Boeing 737 Classic

I've reinstated the two accidents you deleted as "non-notable". Both accdents have articles. If you believe that either accident/incident is not notable, you are welcome to nominate them for deletion at WP:AFD. Should the articles be deleted, then removal from the list may be an option, but they may still be worth mentioning per WP:AIRCRASH. Mjroots (talk) 07:02, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

Well, it needs to be made more obvious what happened to those planes. With the Adam air crash, it should say that the aircraft split into two upon landing (see the pic in the article), but as for the Turkish Airlines 734 hijacking, I don't know about that one. Incidents and accidents Boeing 777-300ER SQ flight 327

Well in fact, I don't care about the numbers of injuries, fatalities, i had seen recently, many people just adding for example, Qantas A380. while landing in Changi , the A380 landed safely without injuries, fatalities. Many other users besides me agree with these guidelines and will be quick to remove any incidents that do not conform to the guidelines. He's blocked for a day and by the time he logs on again he probably won't be blocked. He was adding wrong information on wikipedia, whether they were small or large edits it dosnt matter because they were wrong. I'm sorry if this offended you but I have no tolerance for vandalism and apparently administrators agree with me because they blocked them with my reasons. Wings Abadi Air

Hi the IP edit you recently reverted at Wings Abadi Air appears to have been in good faith, I noticed Changi (SIN) looked out of place (listed under Malaysia) and checked out the others per Lion AIr (JT) online booking which lists Wings (IW) flights as well. The others the IP deleted were also erroneous. I looked over some other edits including one to Kal Star Aviation and that checked out OK. The same editor has made several changes to Indonesian airline fleet numbers that I did not have time to check out. So I have undone your revert to Wings Abadi after some thourough checking. This guy along with another called Jaspel has been accused of sockpuppetry in the past and was probably banned, this guy or guys with two or three more active editors who I wont name here had formed a kind of gang that constantly hounded airline articles reverting edits and seeking help from each other when confronted, he also used another username JoeyBoeing777 which he kept denying but eventually accepted with a false story that this joey was a guest at his home and used his computer to edit, anyways keep an eye on him, the worst of the lot Jaspel, a true bitch if you excuse my language, has yet to come back, if he wasnt this guys sockpuppet. 118.103.228.65 (talk) 15:54, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

Have you tried talking to them about the edits that they reverted on their talk page, or on a specific article talk page? That's the first thing you should do in order to solve disputes with other editors. And don't be so quick to assume sockpuppetry. Have Zaps93/ Jasepl been blocked on accusations of sockpuppetry? You marked my link as spam on the United Airlines page, and you corrected my information that I corrected as I know a lot more about United. Wikipedia should remove your account for false accusations.

If my link is spam, I promise to remove it from wikipedia. Heres the other thing, I have explicit permission from United for the site. I am a teen, and I don't have to money for a domain.

Narita International Airport

When you get a chance, can please keep an eye on this page? Someone has been replacing the terminals with the airline alliances in the terminal column and have been continuously adding bogus/imaginary flights that do not serve Narita (these airlines may operate codeshare flights to Narita). Dude - Please don't remove the the useful data that is being complied in far right hand column on the Delta Fleet page. I only removed information regarding seating upgrades in the notes column. Another IP user removed more info which I think should have been kept there. Info about aircraft getting winglets, being replaced by other aircraft, or in storage is okay to have in the fleet table, but info regarding seating upgrades isn't necessary. I'm sorry about accusing you of removing all the useful information from the notes column. I didn't look carefully before posting. I apologize. I respectfully disagree with most of your edits about seating configuration. The progress of the lie flat Business Elite seats in the international wide bodies as well as the major cabin modifications to the MD-88 (underway) and MD-90 (completed) sub-fleets is significant as the rear galley is removed and the forward galley is enlarged and entirely replaced. The only reason I added them was because there was an edit request on Talk:United Airlines. The user who requested the edit provided a link to a page on United's website listing their hubs, and LHR and FRA were both listed there. Hi Compdude, Thanks for tackling the vandalism conducted by by IP user 180.149.31.62, and semi-protecting the article. Hope the user is given a limitation to edit on Wikipedia. This airport (Shahjalal International Airport) and and another airport article of Bangladesh, Shah Amanat International Airport is very prone to vandalism, notably, filling the page with made up destinations. Gulf Aviation refs and cites.

thanks for the edits. Still learning how to do this to the best standards! Wondered about the refs to other Wikipedia articles as, being a professional engineer amongst other things, I do not feel comfortable with 'circular' refs and you have confirmed that this would be viewed as such. You're welcome. Yes, you're not allowed to use another Wikipedia article as a source. And also, put the period before the ref, not after. Finally, if you want to have inline citations to the same reference more than once, you can do so by naming the particular ref. The first time you cite a particular source, instead of just typing <ref>www.example.com</ref> you type <ref name="Example">www.example.com</ref> . For additional citations to that same reference, you can format them like this: <ref name="Example" /> . This is much quicker than having to type out the ref each and every time, and it avoids having multiple refs that are exactly the same in the References section. I did this for you in the Gulf Aviation article, but I just wanted to explain what I was doing. According to MOS:REFPUNC, inline references should go after punctuation marks like commas and periods. It's general practice for Wikipedia, and it looks better to have the ref after a punctuation mark rather than before. —Compdude123 23:15, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

United Airlines Cabin

Hey I noticed you were one of the main contributors in the United Airlines article so I thought you would be the best to ask. Why isn't there anything besides one paragraph about the cabin in the article? I think everything about the DirecTv on the old Continental planes and info on the seats and everything should be in the article. I think you'd be best off discussing this on the United Airlines talk page so you could get some feedback from other users. Thank you for letting me know and informing me to do so! Jetstreamer has been really bugging me when it comes to the Ethiopian Airlines page. Everytime I did something wrong, he told me I needed a reliable source. And the one time I added one, he decides to remove it as if he didn't care. About your first point, you and Jetstreamer seem to have pretty rough relations with each other. My take on the dispute you've been having between the two of you is that you are "jumping the gun," adding info that the 787 was delivered to Ethiopian before it actually had. Well now it's delivered. I found this Flightglobal article just published earlier today and (guess what?) a Boeing press release! Go show those to Jetstreamer, because a Boeing press release is what he was waiting for.

A NewsBank search of the Anchorage Daily News (adnsearch.com) comes up with the following: "Inside Alaska Business" of September 4, 1998 is inconclusive because of the paywall, but may mention AS's announcement of the discontinuation of service. "Inside Alaska Business" of September 16 mentions that Reeve would continue weekly flights to Russia. Specific quote: "Last week Alaska Airlines said it would stop its Russia service as of Oct. 8".

adding destinations in prose with tentative date

You along with some other editors had said this is ok to do, notably in JAL when adding San Diego and Helsinki info, so why is Jetstreamer going against this policy? Hi, and thanks for having an eye on my very first edit. I'd like to add that I was hesitating to address the airport as "Renton Mun" rather than as Renton Field, because that was the term used in my source (Boeing.com). My guess was that Renton Field was the official name at the time when the bird was built. But yes, I might have investigated instead of guessing :-) .

I understand you are particulary interested in less known vintage airplanes. As a flight simmer, this historic field is also appealing to me. My personal mission will be to crossfeed wiki pages dealing with aviation. My fuel tanks for this kind of crossfeed are the Englisch, German, Dutch, French and Italian Wiki. So if you are looking for, say, a WW I Caproni bomber and find most sources are in italian and german, I'd be glad to help, for I understand and speak these languages. Feel free to contact me as you see fit.

It's great to have people with knowledge of other languages contributing to the English wikipedia, because you could be able to find/ verify sources in other languages. Also, I suggest you use your knowledge of these other languages to translate English articles to other languages and vice versa. One thing at a time. I have to become familiar with everything before I start writing articles from scratch, so I start by editing, that is trying to enhance existing articles. and there is much to do: You got a very high standard here. But if you check out the Boeing 707 article, for example, in other languages, you might be surprised. While here a citation was demanded just for the seating capacity, you don't find a single footnote in the italian article, (well, not yet :-) ) not even the citation needed tag while the article has some excellent passages otherwise. And the talk page is all blank.
If you have something special in mind right now however, I would prefer to do this together with you rather than jumping in the cold water right now. Like Rod Machado said, before you learn to walk you need to know how to crawl, and before you learn to fly you should master walking to perfection...
