Re:SIGNATURE

Noooooooooooo! I was really happy with my new sig. I am not changing my preferences. I'm telling Angela. General Eisenhower (talk of my war years) (talk here) (Help ME Improve) (war or Magic) 22:40, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yes I think we should swap the 2 articles. Oh and I added stuff to my sig that I like. General Eisenhower <font size=0>(talk of my war years) (talk here) (Help ME Improve) (war or Magic) (History here) (Espanol) (Military (Victory in World War II)<font> 23:14, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User:Condem/Sig

My comments copied from User talk:GeorgeMoney.

Hi GeorgeMoney, I just noticed that on the 29th April, you created a page in my Userspace called User:Condem/Sig without my permission. Please don't make pages in other people's userspace without them asking you too - I'll have to get it speedied. ConDemTalk 23:46, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll just move it to User:GeorgeMoney/Condem/Sig --GeorgeMoneyTalk Contribs 23:47, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for moving it, but it's still left a redirect in my userspace, which I'm getting speedied. And I'm not sure I'm too happy about you having a page in your userspace which has my signature in, since the only thing you could use it for, really, is to add it to things without my knowledge (as you did to General Eisnhower's page.) This is also not allowed - if I want to put my sig somewhere, I will, and I'd rather you didn't do it for me without telling me. ConDemTalk 23:51, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What did I do to General Eisenhower? --GeorgeMoneyTalk Contribs 23:52, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You added my sig, using the page you created in my userspace, to General Eisenhower's friends list, which appears on his main userpage. See this diff: [1] ConDemTalk 00:00, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
He asked me to help him with that. --GeorgeMoneyTalk Contribs 00:02, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
He may have asked you to do it, but that doesn't mean you should. If the General wants people to add themselves as his friends, they can (and I have replaced the link to my sig page with my actual signature). Adding people as his friends without their knowledge isn't right, especially if it involves making pages in their userspace without their permission! ConDemTalk 00:05, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Look, I don't want to get into a fight here. I made that a long time ago. Can we just forget about this whole thing and be friends? --GeorgeMoneyTalk Contribs 00:09, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, it was only 9 days ago. But of course we can be friends, I just wanted to make sure you understood that many users don't like people adding their names to pages, or creating pages in their userspace, without their permission or knowledge. I'd really appreciate it if you don't use my sig again... As I said, I've replaced my name on General Eisenhower's page, so nothing's changed over there, don't worry! ConDemTalk 00:19, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks :D I decided to follow the wisdom of other editors and make it more simple. I see you did so yourself. :P Oh, and I didn't put this under a seperate header as it kinda relates to the above topic. Hope you don't mind. Cheers, Mopper Speak! 03:27, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Community Justice Newsletter

Community Justice Newsletter

Welcome
Previously, various notices regarding Community Justice have gone out to our members; though this is the first actual newsletter. This issue will contain information regarding decisions made on the first meeting, our new council, and more...!

If you wish to unsubscribe to future newsletters, please add your name to Wikipedia:Community Justice/Do Not Spam.

New Council
Following our first elections, a new council has been elected.Computerjoe and Ian13 remain as chairman and chief executive (respectively); while Eddieh, Wiki alf and Xchrisblackx are replaced as councillors by Ilyanep, Osbus and Covington. The Giant Puffin and Pureblade remain as councillors.
Member Conduct
In the last meeting, the conduct of 4 members were discussed. Ethnopunk will be put on probation, supervised by Ian13, if he/she is uncivil during this probation, he/she will be expelled from WP:CJ; the same was decided for Misza13 (voluntarily), and his probation will be supervised by Computerjoe. No action will be taken against Computerjoe.
Barnstar
The Civility Barnstar which our member's have designed has been sent to Barnstar and award proposals. We'd appreciate your feedback!

Also, we are planning to make a Community Justice barnstar to give to hard-working CJ members. If you're a budding designer, consider trying to make it, then post your proposal to WT:CJ!

Name and logo change
There has been no consensus reached regarding changing our name and/or logo neither at WT:CJ nor at WT:CJ/M/1. While suggestions are still welcome, no action will be taken at this time.
Programs
We are going to try to create programs to more actively involve our members. If you have any ideas, please drop a line at WT:CJ. We will try to work with WP:ESP on one of these programs, at some point in the future.
Thanks!
Thank you for your time. If you need anything, feel free to comment at WT:CJ or come into our IRC channel [2].

Computerjoe wishes to extend his thanks to User:Robchurch, a non-member who assisted in making {{tracker}} redundant, as well as Misza13 for his continued support and to the whole of this and the previous council.

This newsletter was delivered by CJBot, written by Computerjoe, with technical help from Misza13. Computerjoe's talk 19:30, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to the Birthday Committee!

Welcome, Condem/Archive 3, to the Wikipedia Birthday Committee! You have met all of the membership requirements. Any concerns should be directed to Steveo2. See the Birthday Committee Project Page to see our userbox and the Birthday Message Templates. Go to the bulletin board to see any new announcements concerning the committee. Remember, Be Bold!

Steveo2 16:19, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Birthday Committee Bulletin

Here's the current edition of the Birthday Committee Bulletin. It's a template, so it automatically updates for you.

Birthday Committee Bulletin Board

I just have a few announcements.

  • A new sub-discussion page has been formed to discuss the possibility of a change to the membership requirements. I am aware that while I think that they should be raised, others feel that there shouldn't even be any. Please post your opinion on Wikipedia talk:Birthday Committee/Membership Requirements Steveo2 11:03, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Please see the BDC Talk Page for more news, including the possibility of a merger with Esperanza. Steveo2 11:19, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • While Steveo2 is gone, I will take his place as Current Leader. If you have any comments, ideas, or any questions feel free to contact me. Mr. Turcottetalk
  • We added a second First Edit Day Template a few weeks ago. We have also added four Happy Adminship templates in the past few days as well. Be sure to wish users a First Edit Birthday and Adminship anniversary. The users and their dates can be found on the Esperanza Calendar on the Project Page. Enjoy. Thistheman
  • Many thanks to Draicone for adding headers to our Birthday Committee pages. They look wonderful! Thistheman
  • Remember the rules for new birthday templates. You only need my approval if the template is drastically different from the ones already existing. (Just to be clear, I realize I have no right to dictate which templates you can make and keep. However, only the ones I approve will appear on the Wikipedia:Birthday Committee page.) While Steveo2 is gone you have to get my approval. Mr. Turcottetalk
  • If you'd like, you may post on this bulletin board. It's found on Template:BDC Bulletin 1. You may use it to suggest new policy changes, or anything else you think is too important to only go on the talk page. Sign all announcements that you add. Mr. Turcottetalk
  • Everyone is doing an excellent job wishing people a happy birthday and getting the word of our committee out. Thanks everyone! Mr. Turcottetalk
  • As we reach 140 members wished by committee members, I'd like to point out that we're only limited by the number of people listing their birthday on the Esparanza calendar. So shouldn't we focus on encouraging users to add their important dates, so that our 15 odd members (and any new ones, like me!) have enough work to go round? --Draicone (talk) 14:37, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

Thanks and welcome back to wikipedia. :) Anonymous_anonymous_Have a Nice Day 11:27, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The wait is over (and I see it's been timed quite well with the end of your exams)! I've assigned myself and Lar as your coaches.

Generally I find setting up a subpage (such as User:Condem/Admin coaching) to co-ordinate the coaching makes life easier, as when three people are involved using multiple talk pages gets confusing.

First thing (after saying hi to Lar!) would be to outline what you are hoping to get out of admin coaching. Like any areas you particularly want advice on etc?

Cheers, Petros471 19:53, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A short Esperanzial update

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

August Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: To-Do List
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
  2. The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
  3. Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
  4. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
  5. Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
  6. There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.

Wikipedia's LGBT Community

Hi, Condem!
You've indicated through various means (a userbox, membership in a category, etc) that you are part of the Wikipedia LGBT community, or are interested in Wikipedia's LGBT related pages. Welcome!

You may not know that Wikipedia has both an LGBT Notice Board and an LGBT Studies WikiProject. If you haven't yet done so, take a look at both of them. They sorely need attention and participation!

Some things on the "To-Do List" that merit particular attention include:

  1. Identifying topics/pages that need attention
  2. Identifying problems that need addressing
  1. Adding the LGBT template to appropriate pages
  2. Categorizing LGBT pages

Please feel free to participate in any or all of these activities! And if you feel like it, add yourself to either the Noticeboard Members or the WikiProject Participants - or both!

Glad you're a part of Wikipedia - and Thanks! This invitation posted here by SatyrTN -- talk
Please remove it if you so desire.

September Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. The proposals page has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  2. Since the program in development Appretiaion week is getting lots of good ideas, it now has its own subpage.
  3. The September 2006 Council elections will open for nominations on 18 September 2006. The voting will run from 25 September 2006 until 30 September 2006. If you wish to be a candidate or a member of the elections staff, please list yourself!
  4. The new Esperanza front page design has but put up - many thanks to all who worked on it!
  5. TangoTango has written a script for a bot that will list new members of Esperanza, which will help those who welcome new Esperanzains greatly!

November Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.
