I've added an image to Dame Sheila Sherlock -always try to find an image and state the rationale -it makes it look that much more professional. Good stuff! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:56, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bishop Treacy and Bishop McGavick of the La Crosse, Wisconsin Diocese[edit]

Bishop McGavick's surname has always been McGavick never Macgavick. Bishop Treacy's diocesan biography had him listed as being born in Marlboro, Massachusetts. However, I did add a footnote about Bishop Treacy closing the Necedah Shrine. I hope there will be no problems. Thanks-RFD 14:19, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I will go along with the spelling=categories. However, I will object to changing the spelling of Bishop McGavick's surname in the actual article itself. Also I will go along with the Marlboro spelling. Thanks-RFD 16:38, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kirby Grant[edit]

Greetings! Dzien dobry! I like the "welcome" message you received from Piotr Konieczny; there is much useful information for a "WikiNewbie". I also am fairly new to Wikipedia, and am still "learning the ropes" as it were.

I am writing to you concerning your recent revision of the article on the actor, Kirby Grant. I like most of what you did, but not all. I decided to write to you, when I read the second sentence of the article; the prior version and your version are factually equivalent, but the prior version is more neutral in tone, where your revision seems to have a tone of dismissal. But reading the rest of your revisions, I decided that overall it is better. For instance, the speculation about what might have been had he worn a seat belt, was inappropriate and I am glad you removed it. The remark about his demeanor at fairs and aviation events (along with some other material) sounded like personal recollections from someone who had met him; however, they were added by somebody that we cannot contact (he/she is known here only by IP address and has no talk page). Without some citation, or at least a footnote stating that it is based on personal experience, it was probably proper to remove that material.

If you wish to discuss this article further, we can do so here or in my talk page (since the Grant article has no talk page of its own). Or perhaps we should start Talk:Kirby Grant, since no one else has. Perhaps our unknown source might join us there. Your thoughts? — SWWrightTalk 20:04, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just read your message in my talk page. Thank you for replying. Unfortunately, my polski is even more limited. I know but a few words, from corresponding with a friend in Poland. I am myself American (whatever that is).
Perhaps I used too many words in my message above. Conciseness and "getting to the point" is a skill I have not. My reservation about your work on the Kirby Grant article, lies in the difference between these two sentences:
  • Grant is remembered mostly today as playing the title role in the television series Sky King.
  • If remembered at all it is for playing the title role in the television series Sky King.
Both sentences state the same fact, but the first sentence is gentler, while the second seems to exhibit a negative attitude toward the man.
It is a small point, but of a multitude of such small points is quality writing made. I suppose I could just have reverted that one sentence in the article, but I preferred to talk with you, so to speak, and see what your point of view is. — SWWrightTalk 02:07, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
