I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome!

More specifically to your questions, one article has been deleted as possible copy right violation, the other as not really asserting why the organization is important enough to have an article here. So Also, please take a look at Wikipedia's copyright, conflict of interest, and notability guidelines. --Tikiwont (talk) 12:06, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Welsh Automotive Forum[edit]

A tag has been placed on Welsh Automotive Forum requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Vivio TestarossaTalk Who 13:04, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Control 2k, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.control2k.co.uk/About.aspx. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 09:10, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Control 2k[edit]

A tag has been placed on Control 2k requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Why was Welsh Automotive Forum deleted?[edit]

It was deleted because it wasn't WP:NOTABLE - ie it didn't establish why the subject was worthy of an entry in wikipedia.

Basically, you need to prove why the article is important.

For example,

"zzz club was formed in 1932 (ref1) and currently has over 500 members (ref2). It is a member of the yyy international clubs league (ref3)".

Notability is a hotly debated topic, and causes lots of problems.

I can't say much more, because I can't look at the article itself - it's gone!

However, you can ask the admin who deleted it to send you a copy. You could also ask him for more detail as to why he deleted it, and he will probably advise you on how to avoid it happening again.

The admin was User:Vivio Testarossa Talk.

I will also ask him to add a comment here.

OK, have a nice day at work; please get back to me if I can help further. --  Chzz  ►  12:28, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vivio is not an admin... she merely added the speedy tag to the article. It was deleted due to A7 of CSD which can be read here. This is readily available information for you to obtain by clicking on the article name at the top of the talk page where there is a notice that it has a speedy tag attached to said article. There you will see the name of the admin who deleted it and why. Qb | your 2 cents 12:59, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand - what talk page? Where? --  Chzz  ►  14:02, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think he means the deletion log which appears when you click on a redlink. Actually as deleting admin, I already tried to answer above under the welcome link. Basically, the deleted article just said what the WAF does, namely "act as the voice of the automotive industry in Wales, performing a lobbying and influencing role with the "Welsh Assembly Government.." That didn't seem to assert sufficient importance. For a general idea, you should consider Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies).--Tikiwont (talk) 14:12, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, that's a bit clearer, I think I get you. You mean, if I click on the red link thingy in the: article name, it says something about the article previously being deleted for 'A7'?
The thing is, I'm quite news here myself, so I sympathise with user:Control2k2. Once people start talking of speedy tags, CSDs. A7s and WAFs, I get a bit lost. I know there's help on all these things, but there's SO much help it's hard to decode this stuff! It's like trying to learn a foreign language.
So, basically, the user needs to write more stuff in the article straight away, to show why it's "significant" - is that right? --  Chzz  ►  14:29, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well you have to avoid blatant advertising on the other hand. Moreover, you can go only as far as your topic (WAF in this case, meaning Welsh Automotive Forum and not some Wiki jargon) allows and sooner or later have to back it up with what others have already written about it without violating any copyright. And its always best to write about something where there is no conflict of interest.--Tikiwont (talk) 15:44, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks for clarifying.

GOGEN YAMAGUCHI DELETED-

Could you please help me by explaining why the AGogen Yamaguchi article was deleted. All sources were reliable . Don't understand at all what the problem is. How can I dispute this deletion? Shizuoka budoka (talk) 16:05, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WAF - ideas[edit]

So - I suggest sticking to facts, and definitely avoid it sounding like an advert.

Don't put too much stuff from the WAF website itself; instead find other references and put a bit of information from them, e.g. [1] and [2].

Remember to use a neutral point of view WP:NPOV. Be especially careful, because WAF is a company - if it sounds anything like a promotion/advert, it will be removed.

For example, say when the company started, where it is (with wikilinks to the places). If you give a turnover figure or something, you have to cite a reference.

Web references should be from trustworthy sources - the government one, and that major motoring journal will be quite good.

Don't link to lots of external sites. Maybe one link to their home page, at the end.

I hope this helps, good luck!

thank you both so much ...all this information is really helpfull....i will have a good re-think. thank you again.

{{helpme}}hi chzz can you please just take a quick look at the page i have just created...is this the sort of thing that will be able to stay on?? thank you .

I will look at it now, and post comments below. Also - have you read COI ? --  Chzz  ►  09:51, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It was OK regarding WP:COI. I think you'll probably be OK now, the biggest problem will be whether the company is WP:NOTABLE. I have tidied the article up - have a look and see what you think. I'll try to add a logo to 'brighten it up'. --  Chzz  ►  10:06, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

{{HELPME}} thank you Chzz...such a great help ... it looks fab

You're welcome.
Note: please don't use {{helpme}} unless you have a new help query. When people help you, they add your page to their watchlist - so I would've seen your reply anyway.
Cheers, --  Chzz  ►  11:29, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
