License tagging for Image:Hadlockbandwithlearstanding9br.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Hadlockbandwithlearstanding9br.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:05, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

And and[edit]

Thanks for your contribution, but we are trying to write an encyclopedia here, so please keep your edits factual and neutral. Some readers looking for a serious article might not find them amusing. Remember, millions of people read Wikipedia, so we have to take what we do a bit seriously here. If you'd like to experiment with editing, use the Sandbox to get started. I hope you can help us out! -- Vary | Talk 18:57, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Artist4400714607944qb.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Artist4400714607944qb.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 07:45, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like your article was saved. Just to let you know, I've learned either write a decent amount of info when you make the article, or write it when you have time. Good luck! íslenskur fellibylur #12 (samtal) 11:21, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:320509603 l.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:320509603 l.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.

Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 15:26, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's on his myspace and he took it himself, I can't imagine it would be that bad to use on Wikipedia. Coocooforcocopuffs 01:58, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Sonny Moore Deletion/Merge?[edit]

I know you've said before that you created the Sonny Moore page. Now that it's been deleted/merged I just wanted to let you know, I made sure to print a copy of his page (all the information) before it was deleted. If you find a way to get it back up, I could copy and paste the information here and you could type it back to his page. [It wasn't the most recent edited part for his page, but it's still got plenty of information.] MusicGirl21 01:09, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That was a great article and it shouldn't of been deleted! All systems go 01:23, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Anarchy.jpg.w300h300.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Anarchy.jpg.w300h300.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --Durin 18:30, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Devil Wears Prada (band)[edit]

The article The Devil Wears Prada (band) has been or soon will be deleted from Wikipedia. This happened because the article seems to be about a subject but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. You might also want to read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles. Oh no problem, my first userpage was copied from Cool Cat. No need to link to my page, just go ahead and take it. Prodego talk 04:26, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have a few suggestions for you if you like (and I will clean up the code for you when you are done). How about if you move your picture to where the Wikistress meter is on my page, so the center isn't so cramped? You would have to get rid of something though... How about if you give me a color and tell me what you want and I will create a prototype page for you here? If you like it I will help you incorporate it in your design. Prodego talk 17:07, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Just so you know, I am cleaning up your userpage code for you. I will try to minimize any aesthetic changes. You might want to design yourself a new color for the page. We need the HEX value. Prodego talk 01:36, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Images present scaling problems, which you can see by changing your desktop resolution then looking at the image, because of that, I would not recommend it. However, it is possible to do. It will be much much easier if you combine the image, then upload it. It will then be possible to use css hacks to superimpose links over the image (with a dead link over the wile image) Unless you do that, we would need to use css hacks just to position the images. Or perhaps a image background with image links over it, which uses less CSS, and should look better. However, it will be more difficult, or... Prodego talk 00:55, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You will need to upload the overall background, in one solid image with the text, but no links. Then the images should (I hope) be able to be superimposed on top. This will break your page for some users though. Prodego talk 01:12, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Watch my sandbox, I will construct it there. Prodego talk 03:30, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The first two are linked (we may want to add a border so it is clear they are links), if possible go ahead and keep linking like my examples until you have linked the other pages, if not, you will have to wait until I finish. Prodego talk 04:03, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated the article Blood (My Chemical Romance song) for deletion, under the Articles for deletion process. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the nomination (also see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Your opinions on why the topic of the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome: participate in the discussion by editing Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The End.. Add four tildes like this ~~~~ to sign your comments. You can also edit the article Blood (My Chemical Romance song) during the discussion, but do not remove the "Articles for Deletion" template (the box at the top of the article), this will not end the deletion debate. Wecamewithbrokenteeth[edit]

A tag has been placed on Wecamewithbrokenteeth, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (below the existing db tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Deranged bulbasaur 15:10, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Let's Get Rolling[edit]

The Podcasting wikiproject had a brief initial surge, but has since died away. I admit my part in this, I've been very busy as of late and have had little time to do any sort of editing. However the project has had almost no progress over the last few months. Our first task is to outline notability requirements. I have placed what was 'discussed' on the talk page on the main page, but there is certainly room for more input. Once the requirements are outlined we will need to start removing non-notable podcasts from Wikipedia. You all joined this project for a reason, now let's get the ball rolling.Ganfon 15:35, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:662654160 l.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sherool (talk) 00:43, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit to Cloverfield [1][edit]

When adding links to material on an external site, please ensure that the external site is not violating the creator's copyright. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website has licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 18:50, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Dbb9b340dca04b45b72a6010.L.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dbb9b340dca04b45b72a6010.L.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 21:58, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Podcasting[edit]

Hi Coocooforcocopuffs, I noticed you were on the list as a member of WikiProject Podcasting! 2008 brings new updates to the project, such as Wikipedia 1.0 article assessment ratings, and new podcast infoboxes editors are working on.

In order to help us know who is working on writing, sourcing, rating articles, and in general helping out the project, I encourage you to check out the WP:PODCAST main page and move your name into the 2008 members list. If you'd like to still be part, but have a more indirect involvement on the project, feel free to leave your name on the former members list. Of course, if you're too busy with other commitments and wish to leave the project, simply remove your name. We'll sure miss you though! :)

The year ahead we would like to focus our energy on not only improving articles, but also provide WP:RS reliable sources to ensure each article meets WP:V verifiability.

All the best and happy podcasting. --Breno talk 10:06, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Message from WikiProject Punk music[edit]

Hello!

You may be interested to know that WikiProject Punk music has recently undergone a major revitalization. Please visit the project page to see our new look and check out some of our helpful new features, such as the Assessment Department and the Collaboration of the week. There are also a number of tasks on our Things to do page that you may be interested in helping with.

We are currently holding a roll call to help gauge how many active project members we have. Please visit the project's talk page and add your signature to the roll sheet to express your continued interest in the project. Also, if you have not already done so, please take a minute to add your name to the Participants page along with a brief summary of your punk-related interests, so that other project members will be better able to collaborate with you. If you do not add your signature to the roll sheet by November 30, 2008 your name will be moved to our list of inactive members. We may also take the liberty of removing the project userbox from your userpage if it appears there, to prevent you from automatically appearing in Category:WikiProject Punk music members. Of course you are free to rejoin the project and re-add the userbox at any time if you would like to become active in the project again.

Thank you and we hope you will continue to support WikiProject Punk music!

Disputed fair use rationale for File:Afspromo.jpg}[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Afspromo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page.

Fair use rationale for File:Cover12.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Cover12.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 05:28, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Armor For Sleep 2006.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Armor For Sleep 2006.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 05:28, 27 January 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 05:28, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:B000HIP4AQ.01. SS500 SCLZZZZZZZ V35236425 .jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:B000HIP4AQ.01. SS500 SCLZZZZZZZ V35236425 .jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:06, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Message from the My Chemical Romance task force[edit]

Hello!

You may be interested to know that the WikiProject My Chemical Romance has recently been transformed into a task force of WikiProject Emo. Please visit the task force page to see what's new. This move allies the task force with a larger WikiProject that handles much of the administrative overload, thus allowing task force members to focus on the most important activity: article improvement.

The project's membership list has also been moved to the new task force page. If you see that your username is in the "Inactive/former members" section, please do not take offense; this is because you no longer appear to be active on Wikipedia. We may also take the liberty of removing the member userbox from your userpage if it appears there, to prevent you from automatically appearing in Category:My Chemical Romance task force members. Of course you are free to rejoin the task force and re-add the userbox at any time if you would like to become active again.

For active editors, it is our hope that this change will help spur you to improve articles related to My Chemical Romance. You may have noticed that the old My Chemical Romance project userbox on your user page has automatically changed to the new task force userbox. We may take the liberty of fixing the template link on your userpage, to avoid redirects.

Thank you and we hope you will continue to support the My Chemical Romance task force!

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Coocooforcocopuffs! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 938 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Dan Whitesides - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

WikiProject Sociology Newsletter: II (April 2010)[edit]

Sociology ProjectNews • April 2010
Spreading the meme since August 2006

The Sociology WikiProject is conducting a roll call (or min-census, if you prefer). More then five years down the road, we have over 50 members, but we don't know how many of them are still active in the sociology area. If you are or want to become once again an active contributor to the sociology content on Wikipedia, please move your name from the inactive to the active list on our roll call (or add yourself to the list if you haven't joined yet!).

In other news, we have reactivated the newsletter :) At least, for this announcement. We also have a new, automated to do listing, an active tag and assess project (which has identified about 1,800 sociology articles on Wikipedia, and assessed about 1,3000 of them), and three new userboxes for your self-identification pleasure :) On a final note, I highly recommend watchlisting the Wikipedia:WikiProject Sociology page, so you can be aware of the ongoing discussions.

You have received this newsletter because you are listed as a recipient of WikiProject Sociology Newsletter (Opt-out). • signed

WikiProject Sociology membership[edit]

You are listed in the Category:Wikipedians interested in sociology, probably due to the use of "This user is interested in sociology" userbox, but you have not added yourself to our official member list for WikiProject Sociology. This prevent you from, among other things, receiving our sociology newsletter, as that member list acts as our newsletter mailing list (you can find the latest issue of our sociology newsletter here). If you'd like to receive the newsletter and help us figure out how many members we really have, please consider joining our WikiProject and adding yourself to our official member list. Thank you, --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 12:59, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I was just looking over the list of members on the Podcasting group and wanted to see if you were still active in the project. If so, it looks like the project could use a little jump-start. In particular, I think notability requirements and assessment guidelines could be added/updated. Please check out the page if you're still interested and move your name to the 2011 active list. Thanks! Udeezy (talk) 23:07, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
