Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please stop making test edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Eric Clapton. It is considered vandalism, which, under Wikipedia policy, can lead to a loss of editing privileges. If you would like to experiment again, please use the sandbox. Srobak (talk) 15:54, 19 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There is a "Cite" toolbar at the top of the edit window which allows you to automatically generate the required wiki code.

You click one of the templates, e.g. "book", and fill in the details.
