I am a new user, so please be patient as I learn the Wikipedia guidelines. I appreciate clear instructions––added below on my talk page––on how to improve the way I've made edits.

October 2020[edit]

Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that in this edit to Centre for Child Protection, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 14:31, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Reply: Hello, Materialscientist! Thank you for your explanation of the importance of edit summaries. Since you've instructed me to do this, I've done so thoroughly. Cheers Crackdownonfakenews

November 2020[edit]

Information icon Hello, Crackdownonfakenews. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. JBW (talk) 16:55, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Reply: Hello, JBW! Thank you so much for attaching these instructions and templates. I have since added to my talk page the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure. In the future, I may make further updates but following the conflict of interest guideline. Now that I have made this disclosure, may I contribute to updating the outdated information from 2017? Thank you for your patience and explanations! They're very much appreciated. Cheers Crackdownonfakenews
