Moving articles...[edit]

Hello,

Looking at some of the page move you've made over the past day or so is showing a worrying trend.

You may want to look over WP:PRECISION on Wikipedia:Article titles as well as WP:CMOS#NAME.

The long and the short of it is that article titles should be as short as reasonable possible. With the articles you moved, lacking articles on characters in other comics using the same names, the proper naming is Character (comics).

You may also want to take a look at Help:Edit summary and WP:MINOR.

Hello

These names are used in other comics. I thought that the article name should give the best information. If there are two films with the same name a date is added. If there could be a confusion with an another comics, the name should be improved by adding the Marvel or DC or Continuity Comics or Black Horse even if the article using the same name is not created for the moment. It will one day, better acting now than later.

Komodo cf this webpage and is also a name used by a character of Nocturnals (a comic book).

Armor cf this webpage in Continuity Comics

Trauma cf this webpage or this webpage

Yup, the names are used in other comics. True enough. However, the naming convention deals with articles on Wikipedia only and the minimal degree of precision needed to distinguish those articles.

At this point, related to comics, there are not articles specifically for Komodo (Nocturnals), Armor (Continuity Comics), or Trauma (DC Comics) (the link to the strip off the mark appeares to really be off the mark - that isn't a character it's the basis for a comedic gag). And if there were, what the dabs in question would be is debatable since:

With Armor, it is more likely that a reader would be looking for the more recent character. This is similar to the situation with Quicksilver (comics).
With Trauma, one of the DC character would be under Shock Trauma while the other is a similar situation to Armor.
With Komodo, as you half-heatedly noted in your edits, it would like be a redirect to a section of Nocturnals. And to be honest, that can be covered with a hatnote using {{For}} or the like.

And this does bring up a few other things:

Moving a page is not, repeat not considered a "minor edit". Neither is the creation of a dab or set index page. Either please change your default to not automatically mark you edits as all minor, or stop ticking the box on every edit.
Set indexes are generally not created for cases of 2 related articles among a few articles listed on a dab page. And it's point blank not needed in this case.

Flat out: Stop moving articles from a disambiguation of (comics) to (Marvel Comics) or some other "more precise" term when there are no other relevant comics related articles. It is disruptive editing contrary to naming conventions and the use of disambiguation. It is also approaching editing to make a point. It is you who speack about Deities in comics [1], Perun is a deity like the others that I move.

Go to the category deities in Marvel Comics or DC Comics and see how many have no counterparts.

It is permitted or you should write another rule and be sure that this one is applied.

Komodo[edit]

You seem to be unclear about the proper Wikipedia format to present the information, about the various comic book characters named Komodo. Per the naming conventions on comics, there is no need to specify Komodo (Marvel Comics), because none of the other characters named Komodo have their own article. Komodo (Nocturnals) and Komodo (The Secret Saturdays) are both valid redirects, but both lead to a section of an article with a different title. And all of those links can definitely be included on the disambiguation page at Komodo, but per MOS:DAB, references should not appear on disambiguation pages. Dab pages are not articles, instead you should incorporate the references into the target articles. I think that I understand what you are trying to do, but not every character is notable enough to deserve their own article on Wikipedia. Fortdj33 (talk) 19:26, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks you for the corrections, I begin to see some differences with the French. Some english dab pages have references and links, I thought it was allowed. I continue to think that a title as Komodo (comics) should present the Komodo in comics and not only one character. I want to give the information and help people to find them. Hello :-)

First, sorry if my english is a bit poor, I am a french. My entrance in the Comics Project, with my first contributions in the field, was ... noticed.

I am not sure to be able to write a whole article in english but working on disambiguation, correct links, find references and sometimes write a sentence or two, no problem. On the french side, I am working on comics too (creating pages mostly with translation, cleaning, references), mathematics and films.

Second, I have questions:

1) Do you use smileys icons in discussion ? If yes, where can I find the code.

2) Is there a rule for the color in Template (Template:X-Men, Template:Thor, ...) ? It is a festival of colors.

3) On Namor page, a code is used to have less Templates. How many templates before using a code like that ? How do you choose the color ?

It is just a beginning, I am well known for my questions on the french counterpart.

Asgard (comics)[edit]

Thanks for your help cleaning up this article. I can still use more help expanding the fictional history and cleaning up the Racial powers section and adding the proper ciatations.

Also what are your thoughts on merging Asgardians with Asgard (comics) as most of the info in that article is redundant and unlikely to expanded.? --TriiipleThreat (talk) 21:33, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I added a To-do list to the article with some things I think will help improve the article. Also adding a note or ciatation (first appearance, etc.) to the know members atleast for those who do not have their own articles might be a good idea. As far as Beta Ray Bill (or any character) is concerned any information is useful as long as the focus is on Asgard itself not individual exploits. I am sorry but I had to revert your move because J Greb has always expressed concern about that. I personally can see a lot of people's point on changing his name to (comics) to (DC Comics) because there is a (Marvel Comics) version. I apply the Wikipedia:Naming conventions (comics)#Between characters of different publishers. And J Greb applies "it is the more likely search".
