Thanks for the barnstar

I totally wasn't expecting that. I guess I have commented on a lot of AFD discussions...but I really don't have anything else to do. Thanks again! NASCAR Fan24(radio me!) 22:29, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Re:RfA?

Hi Cremepuff222! Thanks, but for now I'd have to decline the RfA nom. Ever since my last RfA, I've realized a lot of things about the whole process. Namely, RfA voters are looking for a person with:

  • Plenty of edits across all of the namespaces,
  • A lot of deletion dicussion participation,
  • A lot of article writing
  • No evidence whatsoever of "user misconduct or incivility."

Standards are extremely too high for admins right now; RfA voters are basically only looking for the supermen and superwomen of Wikipedia. Unfortunately, I fall short of a lot of the requirements (2 and 3 of the above, for example). But thanks anyways, if I ever do decide to run in the future, you'll be the first I look to for a nom :-) It's nice to know at least some users on Wikipedia have realistic standards for admins. Happy Editing! -- P.B. Pilhet 02:46, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Help request

I'm very confused. How the heck do you transclude a template onto a page?! *Cremepuff222* 22:12, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Transclusion is the inclusion of a template as a reference rather than its code. So to transclude, for instance, Template:Helpme, you just type {{helpme}}. This will cause the template to be loaded in the page every time the page is loaded. So, if the template is updated, it will be updated correspondingly on the page. You can also substitute the text from a template by typing, for instance, {{subst:helpme}}. In this case, the raw text/code of the template will appear, and it will not be updated when the base template is updated.
Let me know if you need further help with this.
Cheers! - Che Nuevara 22:19, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Lol, I was kidding! If you look at my userpage, you'll see my whole user page is based on transclusions! Plus, I had the {{helpme}} template transcluded in my sandbox. :) Thanks for helping so fast though. have a nice day. :) *Cremepuff222* 22:26, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
I hadn't actually looked at your userpage. I figured that you weren't sure what the term 'transclude' actually referred to. (Which is reasonable, you know, since it's not actually a real word ...) I used templates myself for a long time without knowing what the hell 'transclude' was supposed to mean.
Peace. - Che Nuevara 22:28, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Okay. Didn't mean to hurt your feelings. Thanks again! *Cremepuff222* 22:29, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Of course not, and no harm done. A wikijoke now and then is necessary for a little sanity. - Che 22:31, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

My recent RfA

Thank you for supporting my RfA, which unfortunately didn't succeed. The majority of the opposes stated that I needed more experience in the main namespace and Wikipedia namespace, so that is what I will do. I will go for another RfA in two month's time and I hope you will be able to support me then as well. If you have any other comments for me or wish to be notified when I go for another RfA, please leave them on my talk page. If you wish to nominate me for my next RfA, please wait until it has been two months. Thanks again for participating in my RfA! -- Cobi(t|c|b|cn) 01:45, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Thank you for the talkpage revert. I can tell that this vandal has it in for me. Anyway, Cheers :D AngelOfSadness talk 22:55, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

I won't be patrolling RC much today as I'm dealing with some problematique users. Hopefully it all can be solved by bedtime :D AngelOfSadness talk 23:04, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Seems like the problematique user has just been blocked and I didn't even file the report. There's a whole load off my shoulders. I gave them a warning for making obvious personal attacks and for some reason they were accusing other people of making personal attacks when they didn't and was trying to sign the warnings with my signature. Whats worse is that it is with editors I really get along with. Anyway, it's all over now. :D AngelOfSadness talk 23:09, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
That was back in July and I forgot to transcude it to the main page (damn sockpuppets(many genre changing sockpuppets might I add) and holidays distracted me). Anyway another editor approched me about becoming an admin just yesterday (See here for reasons to decline the adminship at this time :D). But I might try for adminship in a few months as I've read a lot of failed Rfa's and a good lot of them failed because a)the editor hasn't been editing for longer than six months b)Not enough Xfd experience c)Not much of a balance between vandal-fighting and article creation. So as you can see I have forseen the reasons why my Rfa if filed at this time would fail. But once I address these important factors I would delightfully accept a Rfa nomination. But it really really means a lot that you have that amount of faith in me. Really it does. :D AngelOfSadness talk 23:28, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Well, I think it's fairly important to know one's faults, fix them so they don't have to be told by others to fix them. Unfortunatley the latter happens a lot in Rfas but of course the feedback is helpful(hopefully it's not feedback from an angry vandal seeking revenge(those ones aren't very nice(but then again none of them are)). That's why I'll probably do an editor review first before a Rfa as once I know my faults in editing, I'll address them, learn from them and hopefully there shouldn't be problem with editing skills in the Rfa. Anyway, I'm off to bed, 'tis a quarter to one in the morning here. So for now I say "So long, farewell....". :D AngelOfSadness talk 23:46, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Problems with User:Anonimu

Hello

I encountered vandal who seem to be some maniac Romanian fascist. He reverts all my contributions and do not engage in discussion. From his talk page and links it is clear he was already banned. Could you please help me starting some action to moderate him? Cautious 20:21, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

RE: My message to unicyclegirl

What was my not very nice message to unicyclegirl? I already apologized on her page. It was during a time when those consarned yuppies were invading the Echo park, Silverlake etc, Wikpedia sites and vandalizing them. But seriously, i dont remember what i said to her....I can be a real jerk sometimes, though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Garagehero (talkcontribs) 07:55, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

TI BASIC

Hehe You must be kidding right? I didn't even know that any TI's survived the 80's! I first puter was a TI-99/4a! I'll be dammed if I can remember how to write in TI BASIC though! I can't even remember Atari BASIC either. Come to think of it my brain has fired out and I can't remember any BASIC! I thought the Atari was the bees knees because it had a real hard drive, the TI only had a tape drive. Boy was that back in the day.. --Dp67 | QSO 21:06, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Erm, I always thought TI-BASIC was the language in which one could program his or her calculator... *Cremepuff222* 21:08, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, Different time zones! We didn't have such complex calculating machines back then! :-) Actually, your typical hand held calculator probably has more horsepower today than the old TI-99 Desktop did.. LOL --Dp67 | QSO 21:20, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Hearst Papyrus

Hello. On your Hearst Papyrus article, I'm going to update the {{Cite web}} so as to use the full template with authors, dates, permalinks to stable archives, etc. And BTW, I'm going to add/suggest a tweak of the citation style to a Harvard/MLA hybrid (which you can see in full bloom at Emir Rodríguez Monegal#References).

I mention this just to let you know that, as per Wikipedia's guidelines, you have the final decision on the citation style on articles you are the first main contributor to. So, if the style changes (such as the small caps or underlining) bother you, it's your prerogative to change them without even a discussion ;-) Cheers, — Komusou talk @ 11:13, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

P.S.: I have also expanded the article from 1100 to 2700 signs so it's now fully eligible for DYK (they ask 1500+ signs of main prose in unformatted copy-paste, as you prolly know). I'll take the liberty to update your original nom at DYK to say "(2700 signs of sourced prose, first half by creator-nominator Cremepuff222, second half expanded by Komusou)", and add some new hooks. Cheers, — Komusou talk @ 12:33, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Wow, excellent work on improving the article! The citation style looks nice now, we can use that. Thanks for the expansion; I just realized the article length rule after I submitted the DYK... Thanks again. *Cremepuff222* 13:16, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
