The material that you thoughtfully moved from List of Hospitals in Albania to create American Hospital in Albania turns out to be a copyright violation. I've tagged it for speedy deletion. I realize you didn't copy the material, but I thought I'd drop you a note so that you would know why if you found the article to have mysteriously disappeared. Removal of categories

Is there any particular reason for removing the categories without prior discussion or consensus? I have tried to see the "logic" behind the edits you've made, but am unable to so. If I'm missing something, please let me know on my talk page - or at the very least, explain in your edit summaries. I'm sure you realise that removing established information generates much unnecessary work for other editors to have to check & revert each case.

I don't understand why you emptied Category:Lists of political office-holders by country. Occasionally you may find a duplicate category that everybody will agree should be merged, but normally you should take it to WP:CFD for discussion. In this case, the category was part of a structure within Category:Lists of people by occupation and nationality and should not be merged to Category:Lists of political office-holders. - Fayenatic (talk) 13:32, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Jesús Jimenez Zamora

Thanks for the backup and redirecting that link to the correct article. I deleted the name from the stamps list based on it being part of an AfD'ed vanity article for some non-notable individual with the same name (and since I don't know much about Costa Rican presidents obviously, much to my chagrin), but I'm glad to know that at least in this case, the person was authentic and they did have an article here. Railway stations by country

You have renamed Railway stations in Sri Lanka to List of railway stations in Sri Lanka, which is logical enough at first glance.

But are you going to rename all the other hundred or so Railway stations in XYZ? When these are all List of RS in XYZ they will look less sensible.

My suggestion is to put things back the way that they were.

Templates

I just changed Template:LGAs and communities of Osun State so that when the page opens the template is collapsed. The viewer clicks on [show] to see the details. Check Osogbo to see the result. I think this works better with templates that could get large. I am wondering if including all the communities in the state will work, or if the template will get much too large. Maybe it would be better to have one template for all the LGAs in the state, and a different template for each LGA that lists communities. Like Template:Communities in the Ejigbo LGA in Osun State. I don't feel strongly at all, but am trying to imagine how it will look when all the LGAs and all the communities are listed. What do you think? Aymatth2 (talk) 02:37, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

There is one effect with navigation templates that I dislike: they create false links. If all the LGAs in Orun State have the template that list LGAs in the state, What links here for one of them will show links from all the others, which is misleading. It makes it hard to find articles that really do refer to the LGA. This is not an argument against using them, but I wonder if there is some way of excluding the false links. I can't find one... Nkpat-Enin, Mkpat-Enin

Here is an odd one. Mkpat-Enin is the name of an LGA. Geonames does not have it, but does have Nkpat-Enin, as do a lot of sites that probably clone from Geonames, including Google maps. They seem to be the same place. Possibly these are spelling variants, but my guess is it is a typo in Geonames. Aymatth2 (talk) 14:20, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Come to think of it, I have no idea how either form could be pronounced. Obviously the spelling is an attempt to render a phoneme that the Latin alphabet was never meant to handle. Where oh where is Okohia?

I just started an article on Ikedi Ohakim, governor of Imo State, Nigeria. According to his website, he comes from Okohia in Isiala Mbano LGA, which the post-office map shows as roughly in the center of the state. There was no article on Okohia, but a quick check on Google showed several sources, so I confidently began an entry for Okohia. I found:

The article on Ideato South claims Okohia is in that LGA, in the north of the state. This is backed up by an article on Isiekenesi town
The Geonames entry shows it in the south-west of the state
A search on Bing shows it in the northwest of the state, in Orlu or Ideato North LGA. Google maps seems to agree.
A descriptive article on Amumara has it down in the south-east, in Ezinihitte LGA

So I can confidently say that I have no idea where Okohia is. Or maybe there are several places by that name, and the article blends them. Argghhh! Aymatth2 (talk) 20:01, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Category:Localities in New South Wales

Hi, I see you are trying to elinate Category:Localities in New South Wales by changing localities into towns. Some of these such as Springrange are localities with very low population, and you would not call them towns. So I would argue to keep the category. Hi, I expect there would be a much greater population than 3. It is something that should be sorted out in the Australia wikiproject, because these sort of category could be used through out Australia. I think there should be some grouping for the smaller population centres, but it does not have to be called locality. "locality" is a good general term however. Dangerous territory

Once you start taking tasmania off railway stopping places thats where I get quite rude. Please do not try the official locality name stuff on that - regardless of geosciences australia, or state nomenlccature body, or even any bloody google earth or what says something exists or not is irrelevent - railway stopping places should not be pruned of Tasmania or whatever - if necessary we go to the OZ noticeboard if you cannot follow the issue. Please do not do that again. cheers - keep up the good work but not on railway locations - it is a widely established practice throughout the australian project and if you do one without any remorse - you have the noticeboard and about 2,000 articles you will have to personally deal with :) (joke) - think again Satu Suro 03:17, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Abbotsfield

I live less than 3 Km away in the suburb of Berriedale and know its a suburb, or at least was. However with little if any sources to back me up, i've had this conversation with editors before and despite my better judgement I'm aware that without sources I'm fighting an uphill battle. Please feel free to revert my edits, and i will consider that article a lost cause. I am not aware of the existence of an Abotsfield Park, but thats not to say it doesn't exist. Nigerian LGAs

Hi. Thanks for filling in the remaining Nigerian LGAs. One thing, What was your source for the area and 2006 census data? Cool. Actually at the moment I've only just laid the foundation by adding pretty empty infoboxes. I did the first few states fully but most do not have the details/coordinates added yet so any help you can give would be great. I did make a map or two see Ukwa West and Ukwa East. However in many cases it seemed that old LGA areas had been split into two etc making it difficult to make map locators of every LGA, besides, I'd have to make over 700 maps! But to get them like Ukwa initially would be a progression for sure. Soon I will be starting articles on all of the main towns. Pushpin maps for suburbs

Hi. I note you have added pushpin maps on the Category:Suburbs of Bendigo and Category:Suburbs of Ballarat articles. At the resolution offered by the Victoria map I am not sure the pushpin adds a lot to the article. Certainly, we dont seem to add the pushpin maps to articles such as St Albans, Victoria and Parramatta, New South Wales. Cunningham's Gap

I note that you removed the apostrophe from this article name in January. Given that the correct name for the place includes one, why have you done this? I checked the MOS and could find no policy for not including apostrophes in place names (and I would argue the case about that if there were). Also, I know that US usage is to omit apostrophes in place names (IIRC, there are only 5 places in the US that include an apostrophe, eg Martha's Vinyard) but I fail to see that as any sort of justification for mangling the English language in countries other then the USA. Australian geographic names lists Australian geographic names; Cunninghams Gap is there, Cunningham's Gap isn't- Australia/NZ names now omit the possessive apostrophe in all cases, but retain the omission apostrophe (per the rules of The Committee for Geographic Names in Australasia; these are online somewhere)- some Australian States are now dropping the s from the end as well (I grew up on the banks of Darlot's Creek 38°05′S 141°47′E / 38.083°S 141.783°E, later Darlots Creek and now Darlot Creek). None of this stops there being many references which include the apostrophe, but, if recent, they are incorrect- I have removed a lot of apostrophes, but have left them in historical references or book titles etc where their use is valid. Just because bureaucracy dictates it does not mean that it should be done. You have ruined the title of [St Johns Wood, Queensland]. It is St John's Wood, not St Johns Wood. Like the one in London. Hi there. I notice that you've added Category:Living people to some articles; when you do so, please check that there is not a death date listed in the article first! Localities in the Shire of Melton

Hi Crusoe8181. All localities in the Shire of Melton lie in the Melbourne statistical district as defined by the ABS. This, combined with the Melton Shire community generally considering themselves part of Melbourne, seems like enough reason to consider them suburbs of Melbourne. Handling PRODs

Hi. Just a note about this edit to Syed Mehboob: once a PROD template has been removed, by anyone, even the page author, for any reason or none, it should not be replaced - see WP:Proposed deletion. The idea is that PROD is for uncontroversial deletions only, so removal of the PROD means it is no longer uncontroversial, and it has to go to AfD. If you see a PROD removed, you can consider AfDing the article yourself, or look through the history to see who PRODded it and let him know - the dePRODder ought to have done that but often doesn't. There is a new "Sticky PROD" for BLPs, which may not be removed unless a source has been added, but this wasn't one of those. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 15:55, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

I've reverted the naming change you've made on the TIRTL article. The trade publications, manufacturers literature, and news article which reference this device all point to the acronym over it's expanded name. Err, no... I'm requesting deletion of a recently created user page that contains copy-viol and is also highly promotional in sound. There's also the question of COI involved. The article you refer to doesn't strike me as indicating much notability - his albums are self issued which is not usually a good sign (unless you are the Beatles...). I'll look at that and the album article again. I usually steer clear of these things, being more into heavier (and more intelligent) music, but the copy-viol just hit me. Re: Leeton

I would recommend using {{Merge}} for a discussion. I would be more likely having one single article (but I would like a discussion of it on one of the article's talk page) with a summary on the Leeton article and the suburb articles redirecting to the main article (whether it is suburb or area). Also Rural place is the discontinued gazetting but the the NSWGNB still see most of them as suburbs of Leeton. Bidgee (talk) 11:53, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

NSWGNB list them as historical, dead, defunct (Discontinued is a bit of a hint) entities as of 16 April 1993. any refs therein are to suburbs of Leeton etc that are historical, dead, defunct entities- non-existent, even(Crusoe8181 (talk) 13:11, 4 June 2010 (UTC)).

Although I am no expert with the notability criteria, I must agree with your proposal to move Narcoota to a section within Eudunda, while leaving a redirect. Removing Cat:Towns in New South Wales

Hi. I note you have started removing the Category:Towns in New South Wales from a bunch of New South Wales town articles. While normally, a article should not appear in a sub-cat and a parent cat, I have always considered the "regional categories" of New South Wales to be an exception. Because the definitions of the regions are so arbitrary, it is quite possible to lose some articles between categories if they are not in the parent category, i.e. Should somewhere like Gundagai be in the Riverina category or the South West Slopes category? A reader looking for Gundagai in the parent cat may not know to look in the Riverina sub cat and miss the article altogether.

It should also be noted that at this stage, the parent cat is hard-coded into the infobox. I am not a big fan of hard coded categories and if this functionality is removed, then all these categories will need to be re-added.

Anyway, this is just my opinion and my reasoning for keeping both parent and sub-cat. Others' views may differ. Cheers, Mattinbgn\^talk 11:22, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

I sure hope you have a very good ref or link for that - as the very notion of wilderness is that there arent sites - its a really odd notion - but if the oz heritage dags have given it that, another brick in the wall from the canberra crats who probably have never been out of mainland oz :( - maybe not even melbourne for that matter

Official names

Blackboy Hill - A trap better than a roadside bomb - no one knows it by that name - it is a site on the locality - which has been absorbed into the locality/suburb of Greenmount. Not sure why you even bother - the aka should be around the other way - the commemorative site title (the site is about a hectare I'd guess - while the locality in popular imagination includes the adjacent school and hillside where the camp was. I really think you should revert yourself, also someone could be a lot more productive making sure Australian war memorials are separate from overseas - category wise - that somehting you cvould get your teeth stuck in Satu Suro 08:13, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

Of course, it's up to you & nobody else, really, what you put on your User page.

However, I wondered if you'd discovered wp:subpages? They're very useful for preparing articles, in your own space.

So, if you wanted, you could create your own sub-page - say User:Crusoe8181/test subpage XYZ

- and work on an article there, before moving it to a 'live' article.

That way, your main User page always keeps the same information.

While I am annoying you, I am not sure the state-based split at {{World Heritage Sites in Australia}} works any more. Hello- Heritage site has already begun to call them Australian Convict Sites so they should now be combined as has been done for Gondwana Rainforests- that I will leave for you as I dont trust myself with that sort of edit. I will, however, get the coords in shortly. Template probably best just alphabetically: with the individual sites in brackets where there is a group like Australian Convict Sites.
