Having reviewed the article and the sources, I agree that this individual fails the spirit of Wikipedia's inclusion guidelines, so the article should be deleted. Thank you for fixing the closure. As you probably saw in the history, I closed it when I was logged out, and so it was oversighted. When I "redid" it to attribute it to my account, I forgot that there would be no sig, and didn't notice that in the "preview"!

While I have not (yet) gone through the article to do any tweaks or sourcing, I use a slightly different search parameter than you [1] and found the he seems to have coverage for his stage work.... and another is adding some to the article even as I write this. Copyvio de-tagging

Re. your de-tagging of my db-copyvio mark at Phiale of Megara ([2]): It seems I wasn't quite clear enough. Of course, I know the person who wrote the article was the same person who previously posted the text on the other talk page [3]. The point is, he posted that talk page passage as a literal quote from an academic source. On the talk page it was marked as such, in the article it wasn't; independently of whether it was marked, the article consisted almost in its entirety of literally copied copyrighted text. The largest part of the body text, at least from "the name Athanaia is the old poetic form..." to "... another inscription from Macedonia in classical times which is clearly in Doric" is also from the same source. (i.e. either directly from O'Neill, or, more likely, from intermediate copyvio versions out there on the web, e.g. [4]). The same goes for the image, which, if it really was self-made as the uploader claims, would be academically worthless. It is in fact a derived work from the excavation notes seen in the link above. I would have cleaned this up myself, but it seems that without the copyvio material, only a sub-stub would be left. Fut.Perf. ☼ 09:00, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

I have removed the rest of the copyrighted content in the article. The remaining portion is the introduction, which probably isn't copied from a source (from what I can see in the quoted footnote). Marcus leach

The issue, as was raised by the editors quoting relevant guidelines, was that the article failed WP:BIO (aka WP:PEOPLE). While the subject was mentioned in a small number of third party publications, most of the publicity related to Leach's membership in a high school debating team, rather than the claims being made regarding him in the article ("a partner at Leach & Associates LC, and manages its subsidiary lobbying group, known as Access Hill. Prior to this appointment, Leach served as a Foreign Expert in the People's Republic of China, under the nomination of the Euroway Centre in Shanghai and certification of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs.") In addition, those third-party sources were themselves not overwhelmingly impressive; The Pitch (newspaper), for example, is a free Kansas City alternative weekly. While it was true that a book about the debating team existed, it was apparently the sole book written by a Kansas City freelance magazine writer, and it was not clear how much of the book was actually about Leach. Thank you for providing this insightful closing rationale. Although the "delete" votes' analysis of the sources was fairly weak, I can see why you closed this as delete. Having read your arguments, my opinion about this article has changed; I agree with deleting this marginally-notable BLP that is sourced to underwhelming sources.

Service medals

The service medals (i.e. National Defense Service Medal) you claim are an "assertion of notability" are awarded to all service members. They are awarded merely for showing up. You are right that the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon are awarded to everyone, so they do not establish notability. However, an award does credibly assert notability, even though it is very tenuous. I would probably delete Brian Joseph Stone if I were an admin, but I will not reinstate the speedy tag because the speedy has been declined before. Since Skomorokh (talk · contribs) declined the first speedy tag, I have asked him/her to review the article. "Outing"

What you referred to on my talk page was about an old dispute where the person I was referring to was arrogantly and heavily-handed removing content without giving me a chance to adequately support it with references, of which there were plenty. It was obvious that he was determined to keep the article on Ohio University a puff-piece. He--or she--was hiding behind a mask of anonymity in order to pursue a personal agenda -- which I might have been accused of, I admit, but I had substance to back up my edits. PRIMO

Dear Cunard,

I amnew and I am quite confused.

I thought I am communicating with Ukpart, but now realise I am wrong, so I copied what i sent to Ukpart to you in anattempt to hang on your decision for deletion my new article.

After making a short and very plain new article to simply introduce what is the PRIMO system for Internet Marketing with plain explainary words, I am quite shocked to see your new message with mark for speedy deletion.

I am a PRIMO user, only start to know it this October but have benefit it so much since, and think everyone should know it and benefit from it, that's why I come to Wikipedia and volunteer to introduce it.

As you can see now, it's just a simple introduction with no what socalled advertising words or purpose at all. I do not understand and will be confused if this short plain introduction is to be deleted. I hope you reconsider your decision, and show me how to improve it to make it a valuable information for everyone.

Hi, Graciousnesss2009, I neither deleted PRIMO nor tagged the article for speedy deletion. I just removed the {{hangon}} tag you placed on your talk page.

I cannot access PRIMO because I'm not an administrator, so I do not know to what degree the article contained promotion (if any). However, the article likely did not assert notability, so it was deleted per Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#A7. For an article to remain on Wikipedia, it must have significant coverage in reliable sources. I did a Google News Archive search for Primo 106 and have been unable to find any sources about the company. Primo fails Wikipedia:Notability (companies) and so does not pass Wikipedia's inclusion guidelines. I suggest I hatch out the album articles and turn them into redirects to the band, which is what WP:NALBUMS seems to suggest - "Album articles... may be more appropriately merged into the artist's main article" would leave a rediect behind. A question about DRV

Hi, I see that you just tagged a bunch of AfDs that were brought up at DRV. One of them was from an AfD that I was a major contributor to but just learned now that it was brought to DRV. Template:Delrevafd was created in September 2008. Sadly, this handy tag hasn't been used much since October 2008. I found this template recently and plan to add them to the AfDs that are at currently at DRV, as well as to the older ones. Improper relisting

There is NO evidence that the creator and subject of the article are the same person.[5] One other editor made that assumption for some confusing reason and others, such as you, are maintaining the assumption confusing everyone. I enjoyed tagging new pages for deletion as an IP for quite some time before deciding to register. One, I wanted to created a couple redirects that I could not do as an unregistered user. Thinking back on my IP experience, I must say that it was fairly relaxing for me. I didn't have to worry about messages like this because I would be off to another IP the next day. Nowadays, I rarely patrol new pages, so I likely won't receive such messages from angry creators in the future. CAT:CSD is where I spend a significant portion of time, as I find that salvaging notable articles that have rectifiable problems (such as articles with partial copyright violations, promotional language, or lack of sourcing) is more beneficial to the encyclopedia and more rewarding to myself than tagging them for deletion. I have removed that paragraph in the article for now. If you can find a reliable source to update the article, feel free to do so.

Some important policies for Wikipedia articles are Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. Feel free to add other information, but please make sure you cite independent, third-party reliable sources. Also, be sure to avoid peacock terms and stick to neutral language.

Here are some templates to help you cite sources. There are three main templates:

• {{cite news}} : for news websites like CNN, Fox News, ABC, MSN, etc. I normally use {{cite news |first= |last= |authorlink= |coauthors= |title= |url= |work= |publisher= |date= |accessdate= }}
• {{cite web}} : for web pages. I normally use {{cite web |url= |title= |accessdate= |last= |first= |coauthors= |date= |work= |publisher= }}. If anything (such as the author's name or the date) is not on the web page, then you should remove it from the template. The same goes with other elements in this cite web template.

Another good link about sources is Wikipedia:Reliable sources, which states that Wikipedia articles should use reliable, third-party, published sources. Remember to keep this in mind when you are researching an article. Sources from Myspace and most blogging sites are not reliable sources and should not be used in Wikipedia articles. Also, using "third-party sources" means that the article should not solely rely on sources that originate from the website that the article is about.

Thank you for extensively researching my contributions and for your confidence in me, but I do not wish to become an administrator. I prefer to edit Wikipedia without being burdened by the tools. As an admin, blocking users, deleting articles, and closing XfDs would detract from much of my on-wiki time which would have been better used for participating in the XfDs or improving articles that are in danger of deletion. Kodster's reasons for remaining a non-admin, summed in the essay, Wikipedia:I don't want to be an administrator, represent my opinions on the subject.

Additionally, during contentious debates, some non-admins tend to assume that the admins are always abusing their "status" to elevate their own positions. Several times I have seen this occur in the AfDs I have participated in, as well as other discussions I have read. If I were an admin at the time, I know that I would have been dragged into the berating. While I do not mind such berating, this would have further deviated from the discussion at hand. Being a non-admin gives me the freedom that admins do not have. Thanks again for your trust in me and my apologies for wasting the time you spent reading through my contributions, but I'd prefer to leave the janitorial work to the current crew of admins, who are doing a stellar job of maintaining this encyclopedia. ;) Best, Cunard (talk) 07:31, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

I neither participated in the AfD, nor do I have an opinion as to whether an article is warranted in this situation. However, I believe that a redirect would be a net positive for Wikipedia. It provides guidance for Wikipedia's readers and thus should be kept per WP:RFD#KEEP #3 and #5.

AfD decides whether an article should be kept or deleted. It does not mandate that a redirect should not be created. A redirect is an editorial decision that falls outside AfD.

DoggyRide

Thanks for taking the time to review the article about the DoggyRide brand. Please note that the DoggyRide brand name has become part of the Dutch language as a genericized trademark. That in itself would provide notability for a Wikipedia article on it's own. The fact that DoggyRide has grown beyond a bicycle trailer to a travel and outdoors products and is used for service and guide dogs behind wheelchairs makes the spot itself rare. A search on the Internet will find numerous references in news media, blogs and next month it will be featured in a major TV show broadcasted by BBC. Notability is determined by the amount of coverage in reliable sources. Are there any Dutch newspapers that have written about DoggyRide? Wiki policies

Wiki policies are often contingent and fluid, open to constant reinterpretation. For many years, Wikipedia had "date links" for every birth and death date. Now they don't. If you knew the history of the change, a lot of it was made for "window-dressing" purposes (attempting to avoid "over" linking) but this came at the sacrifice of functionality.

At the very least, exceptions should be made when a supercentenarian is put out as a symbolic link to the past. Indeed, life "timelines" are quite common for articles on supercentenarians. A little more thought to the subject (why is the person noted?) would establish the reason for having a YEAR link. After all, are these persons not held out as "living links to the past"?Ryoung122 09:01, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

I understand your arguments about linking but disagree with them. Adding symbolic links to the past in supercentenarian articles does not help the reader as this is not what the articles are for. If you truly believe that all unreferenced BLPs must be deleted, then you should support my nomination for deletion of this stub. (diff) does not sound like a "friendly" message; it's telling MZMcBride that he should vote delete on the AfD. I consider messages such as this and this to be neutral messages of notification that do not violate Wikipedia:Canvassing. From the tone of your messages here and at the AfD, it appears that you do care one way: you want the article deleted.

At the time of your nomination, the article already contained a reference from The New York Post and thus would not qualify for BLP deletion. A second source was added by Nefariousski (talk · contribs) after you nominated the article for deletion. I do believe that other editors are doing their fair share. Hi Cunard,

I have been the subjsct of an article deleted today. This isn't a complaint - it's not for me to say whether I'm notable or not. In the event, it seems that improvments were not written and added in time.

I have read the material about deletiona and Wikipedia standards and found it very informative, thanks. It only left me with one question mark. A device invented by me got a good deal of attention form the press (in this case the music press; numerous reviews of 'Note Tracker', all 100% positive).

You were unable to find evidence of it because the press material and testimonials from users date from around 1990 and as far as I know only exists in hard copy (of which I have a folder full). At least, it doesn't have an internet presence, production having ceased due to lack of funding.

This is where your advice would be appreciated. Is there a way such material can be presented with referance to an article? If not, I assume the item won;t be accepted at all, is that the case?

Since you have old newspaper and magazine articles that provide reviews about Note Tracker, please scan the articles to your computer, and then upload them to Flickr or any other photo-sharing site. Then post the links to my talk page. You can create a draft about Note Tracker at User:Pd1950/Note Tracker and incorporate those sources into it. I will look over the article, make any necessary changes, and then move it to the mainspace once it satisfies Wikipedia's guidelines.

The sources you provide must be reliable and independent of yourself. The reviews should be from reputable publishers (such as newspapers/magazines that have an editorial staff); testimonials or letters from users will not suffice. Unless there are sources that provide nontrivial coverage about you yourself, your biography cannot be undeleted as it would violate Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. Deletion of Article Ambarish Srivastava

Thanks to encourage me. I had already made a request before about 24 hours of the deletion of article Ambarish Srivastava during AFD process that the article Ambarish Srivastava should not be deleted, i had provided the reliable source on 08-Feb. 2010. After about one hour when i provided that source i have visited it again, i found there that the article was deleted yet. it appears that the reliable source which i have provided was not inspected or considered properly during AFD, by which cause, i was discouraged. No worries. I noticed that, with the uploading of many newspaper articles, you expended much time and effort on the article. The consensus at deletion review at the moment is supportive of returning the article to the mainspace after you have worked on it at your userspace draft, User:Spjayswal67/Ambarish Srivastava. The reason is that the article, in order to comply with our Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons policy, needs to be sourced. Currently, your userspace draft has many external links to reliable sources but lacks inline citations.

Here are some templates to help you cite sources. There are three main templates:

I advise you to withdraw the DRV request for now to give you time to work referencing the article with the above citation templates. I saw this posted by you in an exchange discussing Embers (band) and Lesser of Two:

I find it amusing that Noodle believes that I am being "conspiratorial" when he himself is the conspiratorial one — he denies the blatant canvassing, although he posts "Now they're out to get Lesser of Two" and "Please help" messages on multiple talk pages. That gets me thinking. If he can canvass multiple people to join the AfDs, why can't I? I have defended myself from your accusations on the Lesser of Two AfD page. Every person I contacted was already involved in the articles in question. The only new input I solicited was a posting on both the punk and metal portals, and the message is rather bland. Rather than fire accusations back at you and clutter up the discussion with nonsense I thought it best to ask you directly what you meant by your comment above. Also, I would ask that you stop attacking myself and others in the discussion and bring up any concerns about "canvassing" or whatever other conspiracies you have on their talk page. If that doesn't satisfy you perhaps there is a better way to address your concerns than making such allegations during the AfD discussion.   I am amused by the fact that you believe me to be "conspiratorial" when, in fact, this can be said of yourself since you were canvassing. At User talk:ScarTissueBloodBlister, User talk:Prairie2010, User talk:Radeksz, and User talk:Black Kronstadt, you wrote a non-neutral message which implicitly told the canvassed users to vote "keep" on the article. Phrases such as "Now they're out to get Lesser of Two", "... Lesser of Two is a band with many more references and accomplishments" (mine emphasized), and "Please help" cannot be reasonably construed as acceptable per Wikipedia:Canvassing#Friendly notices. This is Wikipedia:Canvassing#Campaigning because you are trying to sway the receiver's opinion through your use of tone and intent.

  On the other hand, your messages at User talk:WikHead and User talk:Alvin Seville are acceptable in that they are neutral in tone.

  That said, I am willing to withdraw the debate if you provide reliable sources that prove that the band passes Wikipedia:Band #5 : "Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e., an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable)." This appears to be the only way that the band Lesser of Two can pass Wikipedia's inclusion standards since it fails the other criteria listed at WP:BAND as well as Wikipedia:Notability#General notability guideline and Wikipedia:Verifiability. Nikt Nic Nie Wie (self titled tape with Polish translations) is the first independent label in Poland and has released numerous notable bands. The next most prolific label is Malarie (self titled 12" vinyl) is the next most prolific label which has recently released an album by MDC (band) and has released many other notable bands including Zounds, Harum Scarum (see Cypher_in_the_Snow), and Homo Militia to name a few.([7], [8]) Since this label is still active it fulfills both criteria of 5 WP:BAND Estajanovismo (self titled tape with Spanish translations) is a label from Mexico that has been around since the early 1990's and has released other notable bands such as Varukers, Resist and Exist (see Total Chaos (band)), The Ex (band), Wolfbrigade and much more. Terrorismo Sonora I do not know if this label is prolific enough to qualify for critera 5 of WP:BAND. I will have to do more research, but criterea 5 only requires two or more. Farmhouse Records (Farmhouse '94 Compilation 12" and CD) was established in 1993 and has released albums with Submission Hold (band) and Useless ID. I would list more but you guys get the point. No worries. Thanks for providing much food for thought as to whether or not the sources you provided can be considered reliable sources. I'm swayed but not fully convinced. However, due to the lack of coverage in the mainstream media about punk rock, I guess Maximumrocknroll, Flipside, and the other fanzines must suffice to combat the systemic bias that exists with this music genre. However you should keep in mind though that the tags you placed across multiple articles may be disheartening to some users, especially if the issues cannot be easily revolved - de-orphaning some pages may be very difficult. Sacred microdistillery youtube archived link doesn't work.

Hello Cunard, thankyou for your help bringing the Sacred Microdistillery page up to scratch. I like the archiving that you have done. I tested the links, and found that the one you created for the youtube video doesn't work, though the original does. Is this fixable? You're welcome. The YouTube archive link has an error because although the WebCite system can archive images and pdfs, it cannot archive YouTube videos. I've commented out the YouTube archive link since I don't think it's fixable.

The issues I have with the sources are unreliable source or primary sources such as reference #18 (http://www.ambarishsrivastava.com/), which is the subject's own website, and references #19 (http://kaviambarishsrivastava.wordpress.com/) and #32 (http://www.sahityashilpi.com/2010/01/blog-post_24.html). After reverting the addition of copyrighted content, I expanded the article using secondary reliable sources, so I don't think the filmmaker's website will have other useful information that can be added to the article. I note that you wrote in your edit summary on the talk page, "permission received for http://www.icepeople.com/filmmakers.html (text only)". Since the copyright holder contacted you, would you ask them if they are willing to release any photos of Anne Aghion under the Creative Commons license? I'm thinking about pictures such as this one. You must provide a reliable source that verifies that Miranda Uhl attends St. Francis Catholic High School. Original research is not allowed in Wikipedia, especially for a WP:BLP. Your going to school with her is not enough to verify this piece of information. Has a newspaper written about Miranda Uhl attending SFCHS?

I will tell you once and for all that I am not sockpuppeting. Kingtut601 is one of my friends but he is not me. He writes on the same articles as I do because we share the same interest. For example, the Rusty Baker as in the article that we both fought for is his father and my employer. That is why we write on similar things. I do not appreciate that you accused me of this before asking me if I did it in the first place. As for Miranda, I have no idea if their is an article that specifically states that she attends SFCHS.
