Joe Arpaio report[edit]

[moved here from Talk:Barack Obama citizenship conspiracy theories‎] I'm a newcomer to the topic of this article. I looked at the birth certificate last April but didn't pay much attention afterwards. Yesterday I tuned into Arpaio's press conference with curiosity. I left captivated. In my new-found zeal I edited this article without learning some established policies. I'm abusing this talk page somewhat by inserting this comment, but I want to say that further investigation has led me to end my brief flirtation with the Birther cause. Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed someone else deleted your comment (above) from the Obama citizenship article's talk page, but I just wanted to let you know that I saw it. As you may have already seen, articles about the "birther" movement are inherently difficult to edit because there are many strongly held beliefs and people heatedly disagree about what sources are reliable and what it really means to handle the subject in a neutral fashion. While we can certainly discuss the claims of Arpaio and others, it needs to be done in a way that neither embraces nor ridicules such claims, but instead reports them evenhandedly and sticks to reliable sources. If you have any questions about the Wikipedia policies regarding reliable sources, neutral viewpoint, etc., please feel free to leave me a note (on my talk page), and I'll be happy to help clear up anything I can. — Richwales 17:11, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
