Hello[edit]

Hi, I just wanted to drop you a note. You seem to be making quite a splash on the topic of the American West -- I was asked to have a look at the pages as a reasonably disinterested party (I'm not a close friend of anyone involved, and as a Washingtonian I'm not too invested in the idea of the West, though I do have a Texan for a brother-in-law). I looked them over, and while I think you do have some reasonable arguments, I think you are going overboard in attacking those who disagree with you. It's never pleasant to be alone in a discussion at Wikipedia (I've been there more than once, totally dumbfounded that no one could understand my perspective), but the really important thing is to maintain Wikipedia:Civility and to follow the advice of Wikipedia:Staying cool when the editing gets hot. I have definitely worked with some of these folks before (JCarriker and Jmabel, at least), and I have to say they tend to be very thorough and reasonable guys (and pretty intelligent too). Most of all, while there are certainly some folks around here who will never compromise or allow their minds to be changed, JCarriker and Jmabel are not in that group at all -- I think if you remain calm and are willing to compromise in some areas, you'll find that they are also willing to extend that courtesy to you.

If you feel I'm singling you out, I'm sorry -- on the talk pages I've seen, you're the only one that I see crossing the line into rudeness. If you see something else, point me to it -- like I said before, I don't have a dog in this fight, and am open to seeing both sides (though if you keep being uncivil to others, I will make sure to get involved to put it to a stop). I've been hanging around for a while now (2 years), and in that time I've seen just about everything this place has to offer (and have served in almost every capacity) -- if it helps at all, think of this as the advice of an old hand who has definitely seen frustration and felt that he was losing an argument where he was clearly in the right. In the long run, I find it's better to relax a bit and do my best to work with even folks I find unbearable. Let me know if I can be of any help, and please, watch how you respond to people -- if you make personal remarks that bring me back here a second time, I'm going to be in a much grumpier mood, and I prefer not to feel that way. Fair use rationale for Image:Indian_City_USA_brochure.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Indian_City_USA_brochure.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
