April 2009[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Mobile translation has been reverted.

Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): googlepages\.com (links: http://w0lfwmcoder.googlepages.com/translator).

If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 14:49, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 14:25, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[Section for Helpme question][edit]

{{helpme}} Hello, I noticed that an article I wrote has been abused by an anonymous user, who has transformed the text into (blatant) advertising, and also removed certain references. Obviously, this was done by the representative of a company, who wants to advertise it in Wikipedia, while removing or writing against its competitors (inadmissible for an encyclopedia). All of this destroys weeks of research and writing effort - and the effort of further contributors. I would like to ask for advice and help. Thank you! Article is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_translation Edits are by: IP:68.174.131.183. Dalai.lamia (talk) 09:32, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

He's only added two paragraphs. If you don't like it then edit it to tone it down, remove blatant advertising, make suggestions on the talk page, engage in dialogue, that's what Wikipedia is all about. --Stephen 09:59, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I will remove edits as they (in my opinion) are not related to the article and make no contributions to it. Dalai.lamia (talk) 10:51, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dalai, what Stephen's suggesting is that you go to the IP user's WP:talk page, i.e. User_Talk:68.174.131.183, and leave them a new section, with any questions or advice you may have for them. Usual WP advice is to assume good faith.
If and when you do that, please remember to WP:Sign your comments, as you forgot to do at WP:Help_desk#Article_abused_with_advertising. Trafford09 (talk) 11:02, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I am unsure about leaving comments to a user's IP. I am currently revising the text, trying to also include the anonymous visitor's company in the list of companies providing mobile translation services. Regarding signing, sorry. While trying to post the question, the Wikipedia site returned a server error several times and got me distracted.

{{helpme}}

I would like to ask for the help of Wikipedia admins. The Machine Translation article, about which I have alterted admins a couple of times now continues to be spammed by the same user. Please, if possible, lock the article for editing by users who are not logged (particularly the IP of the frequent spammer). Obviously, this person cannot understand that they need to focus their adverttising efforts elsewhere. Thank you, Aditya, for your assistance!

As suggested above, you should first edit the article to remove what you consider spam and address your concerns on the user's talk page. If you still feel that page protection is necessary, then you should make a request for the article to be semi-protected at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection by following the instructions there. The {{helpme}} tag requests help from any Wikipedia user, so please don't use it if you are specifically requesting help from an administrator. You can use the {{adminhelp}} tag instead. And please let me know if there are any more questions. Thanks! --Mysdaao talk 14:21, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
