Kannada meters

I agree that information on metres is more in depth detail and most readers would not be interested in or may not relate to. I have provided the info because often the type of metre itself determined the kind of literature. For example, a writing in sangatya metre is specifically meant to be "sung with a musical instrument", not read like a book. Writings in Vachana metre (also known as Vachana literature) is meant to be recited in a particular way that it has maximum impact on the audience. Similarly the Yakshagana literature would be ineffectual if the contents were not dramatized on stage and sung. These developments are purely 10th century onwards with the arrival of devotional (bhakti) movements. I have included the metre in all the other articles on literature I have written just for completeness and consistancy (Hoysala Empire literature, Western Chalukya literature etc).thanks.Dineshkannambadi 15:00, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the copy edit. Because the main article was getting too bulky (70K bytes) I have created a new subsection for the section you copy edited and called it Administration of the Kingdom of Mysore. The "Administration" section on the main article will be reduced to accomodate a more acceptable main article size (<65K). I agree that some sentences in History section needs to go (w.r.t literary accomplishments of kings). I will look into that tonight. I though of creating subsections for "Social life" and "arhitecture" too. Let me look into that tonight. Ideally 65K size is ok for FA, from previous experience, especially since the article covers 1400-1947, a period of 550 years.Dineshkannambadi 14:04, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

One of the problems is the sections "Religion" and "Society" are not big enough to make subarticles out of. Those sections that do have subarticles are "Administration" (10K), "Music" (30K) and "literature" (20K) are quite large by themselves, so I went ahead with sub articles. So the best thing may be to reduce those other sections cleverly, while still conveying the meaning. The article is in PR, so whatever we do, we need to do it in the next week or so.thanksDineshkannambadi 15:16, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

I have created a subarticle for the Economy of Mysore Kingdom. I should be done trimming that section in the main article today. I will take two more sections (society, religion) over the next 2 days and do similarly. Thanks for your recent edits. I have completed chopping the "society" section having created a subarticle for it. I am replacing all the web citations in the "architecture" section with book citations and should be done today. Web citations are sometimes frowned upon by reviewers (though in this case, I see very little diff between the web and book contents for the Palaces and temples). Makes me feel guilty. Hi. The earliest records from Mysore Kingdom (epigraphal source) is from 1551 (which ofcourse does not mean they were administering independently. At the same time, it would convey the wrong meaning to say that the earliest evidence of Mysore administration is the minting of gold coins which happened in early 17th century, though it surely means the Kingdom had come of age. The independence of Mysore happened gradually during the rule of Raja Wodeyar I (1578)in second half of 16th century from which time many inscriptions are available. This is what we need to convey. Hi. I have been busy planning the next FAC "Western Chalukya Architecture", an unique architectural idiom that flourised in Karnataka between the 11th and 12th centuries. With this effort in mind, I travelled to the districts of central Karnataka (Dharwad, Gadag etc.) this summer and visited a dozen of their fabulous monuments. I will finish writing this article and uploading some of the images which I am sure you will enjoy, sometime around Nov 10th.
