The photo was GIVEN to ME by Harry Lonsdale. I uploaded it on wiki commons and statd that I own the photo. What is the problem?

It looks like another file with the same name was uploaded and was already deleted last month. The current image appears to have a valid usage license and should be OK. --Esprqii (talk) 17:12, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like you have some good information about Lonsdale to add, but just replacing what was already written and cited is not the way to get your edits in place. If you have some good sources on Mr. Lonsdale and information to add, please provide it with verifiable, well-cited, and neutral point of view edits. You should also provide edit summaries so explain your edits. Simply wiping out the work of others makes your edits appear to be vandalism, which I'm sure is not your intent. Thanks! --Esprqii (talk) 15:52, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is this a good way to communicate with you? DanWalter (talk) 16:03, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to move this discussion to Talk:Harry Lonsdale. That's the right place to discuss changes to the article. --Esprqii (talk) 16:12, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Help desk question[edit]

You asked a question at the help desk about infoboxes. I replied there asking which article you were referring to. Most info boxes are generated by one of a large number of templates and I'd need to know which template was involved to investigate further. RJFJR (talk) 16:13, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry. I am unfamiliar with the mechanisms of communication here. Living Person Harry Lonsdale's bio is under "politician" -- from Oregon. The correct occupation is philanthropist (http://www.trdf.co.il/eng/kolkoreinfo.php?id=1427)from California (http://www.campaignmoney.com/political/contributions/harry-lonsdale.asp?cycle=12).

May 2012[edit]

Hello DanWalter. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Harry Lonsdale, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 16:18, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is currently posting an error in fact:

Living Person Harry Lonsdale's bio is under "politician" -- from Oregon. The correct occupation is philanthropist (http://www.trdf.co.il/eng/kolkoreinfo.php?id=1427)from California (http://www.campaignmoney.com/political/contributions/harry-lonsdale.asp?cycle=12).

How does this get corrected?

Lonsdale is notable due to his founding of Bend Research and his campaign for Senate in Oregon. His career as a philanthropist is not notable, though it could be mentioned in the article if you can provide some reliable sources. The second link above does seem to establish his current location, but the first gives no information about Lonsdale's philanthropy that I can see. As for the the infobox, again, his notability is not tied to philanthropy. No one sees the type of infobox anyway. Again, I strongly suggest you discuss changes on the talk page. --Esprqii (talk) 17:43, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Point taken. Isn't this the talk page? DanWalter (talk) 17:46, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ummm.... no. This is your talk page. The talk page for the Lonsdale article is Talk:Harry Lonsdale. As to the substance: he is notable as a businessman, and as a politician; he is not notable as a philanthropist. --Orange Mike | Talk 18:48, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That first link was incorrectly formatted but I see what you are referring to now--that award is already mentioned in the article, but doesn't really establish him as a philathropist. The best place to discuss this would be on the article talk page here. --Esprqii (talk) 17:43, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have incorporated updates to the article. I strongly suggest you step away from editing the article itself and make any further requested changes on Talk:Harry Lonsdale. You might also suggest to Mr. Lonsdale that if he wants to control his biography, he should provide the information on his own website. --Esprqii (talk) 18:02, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Martinez Manglardi requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. – Joe (talk) 19:24, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
