AfC notification: Draft:St Edward the Confessor Primary School has a new comment[edit]

I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:St Edward the Confessor Primary School. Thanks! Fiddle Faddle 08:44, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

As a catholic organisation the church as an integral part of catholic schools and are used as part of the religious life of the school. This building was also used within the school from 1963- 2010 as a building..until new facilities built as stated. It has been a big part of the school's history.

My view is that the school itself is not notable in Wikipedia terms, but the log cabin church might be. You need to disconnect the importance as part f the school from the concept of notability. The school cannot inherit notability from the church building. Fiddle Faddle 09:12, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you- I have continued to try to explain the building as part of the school history as it was used by the school for many years as a resource and this also enabled this Logan historical icon to be saved. I have also add some more referencing to research projects that the school has been involved in. I appreciate your feedback as it help clarify the points needed to be made. I have resubmitted.

Wondering why[edit]

It seems to me to be very unlikely that you will establish notability for Draft:St Edward the Confessor Primary School. This can only be done by providing references that pass WP:42. I will not review the draft again, and I suspect Worldbruce is unlikely to either, so you await another reviewer, but there is a strong probability that their opinion will be similar to ours.

At present you seem to be dusting the mantlepiece and arranging the flowers, both of which make a prettier article, but neither of which establish nor verify notability. I realise that you will not be discouraged, but I hate to see you waste your efforts. To put it as plainly as I am able, only references that pass WP:42 will allow this to be considered as an article. Primary schools almost never make the grade here.

Our role as reviewers is to seek to ensure that an article will not immediately be subject to one of our deletion processes when it is accepted. That is why we push it back to the author. We want to accept articles. There is a 0.9 probability that this one will not be accepted. Fiddle Faddle 10:20, 18 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you as I appreciate all your assistance. I have been working with the Year Five students in the school as when they realised they did not have a presence in Wikipedia they looked to see if it could be established. They did speak to a few other schools over the Term.. eg our neighbour John Paul, St Paul's Woodridge..who were able to get an article published with less references??? Just a little confused as we looked at a few school sites published on Wikipedia?... I would like to try to continue to work with them to find notability and will read the link you provided....maybe it may not occur but will continue to try.

The problem with other articles is that we do not ever use them as precedents. I'm sure you can see why not, since it would lead to ever decreasing quality. We try hard to root out poor articles, even of they have been published some time ago. Notability never wanes, but it may never have been proven in the first place. Once proven it is proven for all time.
There are many excellent schools, and secondary schools seem to get a free ride here, but primary schools must be truly special. Unfair? of course. Do I approve of either set of circumstances? You can bet I do not. Either all schools of whatever grade should be here (I truly think not) or only notable schools should be (Yes, and a thousand times yes), but that is not the case.
