Dog crossbreeding[edit]

You posted "Hey i was just wondering if any one had bred a German Shepherd with an Alaskin Malamute and if any one could tell me the pros and cons of this?" Which is interesting but not the purpose of the Talk (discussion) page, which should be about the specific Wikipedia article. However, there are people trying to make something that looks like a wolf but actually is a dog (since people can breed dogs to look whatever way they want, and they do it by crossing Spitz or Nordic-type dogs (like the Alaskan Malamute) with German Shepherds. The cons are mainly that it is sort of icky to breed a dog just to be an ultrafashionable pet (many people want that oh-so-cool look of having a pet wolf, without the trouble of keeping a dangerous wild animal). The pros would be -if you are a breeder- that it could be another crossbreed that people will pay a lot of money for. If you are looking for a good racing sled dog cross, read about Eurohounds. If you are looking for a pet and companion, the animal shelters are full of crosses and mixed breeds that need good homes.--Hafwyn (talk) 18:20, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
