Gaeltacht

Hi Dan,

A letter from a government official proves the existence of the place (which was never really in doubt), but does nothing to establish encyclopedic notability. For that, one need mainstream press mentions of the significance of the library; until such evidence arises, another DRV is a futile exercise. Trust me... Wikipedia handles lots of these every day -- I nothing for or against this article, but I generally aware of what you'll need to make the case for an article successfully.

In general, the expectation is that one should wait a month before pursuing a new DRV. I hope this will give you time to compile the new evidence you need. Best wishes, Xoloz 16:01, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

I can understand your frustration. The best course of action for you would be to write a new article in your userspace, using all the sources you have, fully cited. Also, look for more sources -- at least some commenters felt that the case for a notable Gaeltacht was a difficult one to make in general; so the more, the better. Once you have your draft perfected, ask me to take a look at it, and I'll see what I can do to streamline the process. The DRV doesn't apply, you see, to drafts that are substantially different. If I think the draft is significantly different, I'll move it back into the mainspace, and I can handle all these finicky process issues for you.

The article looks quite good to me. Of course, I cannot guarantee someone won't nominate for deletion again, but I do think it belongs on Wikipedia, and that it is now sufficiently sourced. If anyone asks you any questions regarding process that you don't want to handle, just refer them to me.

As for our processes, I'm sorry they've been difficult for you. Wikipedia is confronted daily with a flood of unencyclopedic content (eg., "This is my new high-school band! We're famous in our hometown! Rock on!"), so many of WP's admins (all of us are volunteers, too) develop a high tolerance for complaints from newer users, and become accustomed to deterring, politely but firmly, their sometimes... shall we say... "idiosyncratic" work. Unfortunately, through no fault of your own, you inadvertently approached the DRV in a manner that made your work seem dubious (to paraphrase -- "I live near this place. Please put it in the encyclopedia.") It just so happened that you do live near an encyclopedic place; but, it sadly took a bit of effort on your part (more than it should have, in a perfect world) to convince regular users of that. I'm sorry on behalf of all of us; but, I'm sure you now have a better sense of why these obstacles arise. I'll move the article back to the mainspace now.
