Claiming that user is Staff[edit]

Hello, sorry to bother you, I just wanted to ask you one more thing. Could you please remove your statement that Drmargi is Wikipedia Staff and that her opinion is a "decision made by Wikipedia Staff" as it can be misleading to anyone who will read the discussion? I told you that I was done listening to you and you decide to harass me on my personal talk page... That does not mean you were invited to comment on my personal talk page. No, I will not remove anything that I've written. And don't even think of removing my comments either. It is a violation of Wikipedia policy to edit/remove the posts of other people on talk pages. If Drmargi weren't staff, I don't see her chiming in and saying otherwise. Now stay off my talk page! And sign your comments, even on personal talk pages.

I'm coming here after seeing a discussion elsewhere, and I'll try to clear this up. Drmargi is not "Wikipedia staff", she is simply an editor who has been here a long time and is a respected member of the community. As a matter of fact, the Wikimedia Foundation doesn't employ anyone to edit or moderate Wikipedia articles. —DoRD (talk) 15:44, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks DoRD! I didn't comment because I didn't see what was said, and was offline when this matter was raised at, of all places, ANI. I'm sorry to see Maticsg1 felt it necessary to interpret my silence as tacit collusion in Darien's error. Yet another policy for him to review: WP:AGF.

In truth, the squabbling got so bad, I stopped reading the thread. Neither of these editors has much experience here, Maticsg1's recent behavior evidences a lack of willingness to learn established practices, and Darien's confusion is easily understood. Instead of dragging all this to ANI and making demands that statements be removed, it could have handled by simply pointing the error out to Darien or by alerting me so I could. That's what talk pages and AGF are for. Frankly, the whole discussion at CSI: Cyber is so toxic, both of you should step away, find other articles to edit, and revisit this some time later, when time has passed, and tempers have cooled. --Drmargi (talk) 16:07, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I did choose to step away, by telling the person in question I was done listening to him/her. And then they decided to visit my personal talk page to escalate the matter.

He/she was correcting your mistake, a process which happens every day on Wikipedia. That is not hostile or escalating the situation. You said, If Drmargi weren't staff, I don't see her chiming in and saying otherwise and here she and others have chimed in and told you she isn't a staff member and you still can't simply say you made a mistake. And while editors have some control over content on their talk pages, they are intended for communication between editors and editors don't need an invitation to post a message on any talk page unless the editor has explicitly told them they are not welcome. Saying I was done talking to the person was just about the same as saying they aren't welcome. I am done with the discussion that doesn't mean the other person should just bring it to my talk page to continue it when I am done. I'm not admitting anything because I said long before the maticsg brought this to my talk page that I was done with the discussion and he/she should have left it at that. I don't care what his/her reasons are for bringing it to my talk page. I said I was done and that's that. Just like I am done with this discussion on my talk page here. I don't care what you or anyone says, I am done.

You've had a tough time, buddy. I can sympathize; it's gotten on my last nerve, too. Take a well-earned breather, and find somewhere fun to edit. Don't let it get you down: unfortunately, in a group situation like this, there will always be a couple folks who have to put in their 2¢ worth long after a situation has been talked to death.
