Welcome

Hey there, Dark Prime/Archive 1. Welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you enjoy being a Wikipedian and decide to stay! Here are a few good links for newcomers (or "oldcomers" for reference):

By the way, you should sign and date your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~. Three tildes (~~~) produces just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!

Image Tagging for Image:Dark-funeral.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Dark-funeral.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Why did you add that reference to Top Gun? I don't get it. Please remove it. Jay Kay

License tagging for Image:Df lordahriman live.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Df lordahriman live.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Deicide03.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Deicide03.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Osama bin Laden

Normally, Dark Prime, you would be correct that a man would be referred by his given name. THIS isn't the case here: Bin Laden's westernized family uses "Bin Laden" as a family name, like in the west. WhisperToMe 16:56, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Image:Darkfuneral3.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Darkfuneral3.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

 1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add Replaceable fair use disputed, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
 2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Leon Sword 02:35, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Non-free use disputed for Image:Atteratotussanctus.jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Atteratotussanctus.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:12, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Dark Funeral

Greetings. You asked about image tagging for the Dark Funeral image. I'm afraid we cannot accept non-free images of current bands, no matter how they are tagged. Wikipedia is a "free-content" encyclopedia, meaning that we always use freely-licensed images whenever possible. Since the band is still together, it should be possible for someone to photograph the band and release that photo under a free license. Therefore I deleted the image. – Quadell (talk) (random) 15:57, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of List of satanist bands

I have nominated List of satanist bands, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of satanist bands. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Possibly unfree Image:JohnTyndall.jpg

An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:JohnTyndall.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the image description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Storkk (talk) 07:28, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Your revert of my edit at Gaahl

You might want to look at what you are reverting before doing the actual revert. There's incorrect grammar, it links to an article that redirects to the main article (i.e. the band is not notable enough), etc. Thank you! Erzsébet Báthory(talk|contr.) 09:45, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Emperor Magus Caligula, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://top40-charts.info/?title=Emperor_Magus_Caligula. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 22:41, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Image permission problem with Image:Dead03.jpg

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Dead03.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

 • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
 • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Erzsébet Báthory(talk|contr.) 14:57, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Re: Belphegor image

Ideally, if the image is a copy of the one at wikimedia commons then the one here at wikipedia should be speedy deleted. No? FireCrystal (talk) 00:31, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:HelmuthBelphegorLondon.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Copyright violation in File:Gaahlterrorizercover.jpg

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on File:Gaahlterrorizercover.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because File:Gaahlterrorizercover.jpg is unquestionably copyright infringement, and no assertion of permission has been made.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting File:Gaahlterrorizercover.jpg, please affix the template hangon to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Copyright problems with File:Gaahlterrorizercover.jpg

Hello. Concerning your contribution, File:Gaahlterrorizercover.jpg, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.terrorizer.com/index.php?issue_no=146. As a copyright violation, File:Gaahlterrorizercover.jpg appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. File:Gaahlterrorizercover.jpg has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

 • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:File:Gaahlterrorizercover.jpg and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
 • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:File:Gaahlterrorizercover.jpg with a link to where we can find that note.
 • If you hold the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:File:Gaahlterrorizercover.jpg.

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you. Naufana : talk 23:54, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

free advice

Hey if you want a little free advice, I'd really consider not uploading images as GFDL/Template:PD-user when it is painfully obvious you did not create the image. If you would just take the time to fill out a fair use rationale your images would not be deleted. Take it easy - Naufana : talk 21:28, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Response on above user's page. Dark Prime (talk) 10:48, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

It is fine for you to use a scan - the problem is that you didn't include a fair use rationale and you used the PD-user tag, which is only used when you created the image yourself. Imagine you've painted a picture that belongs in an article for some reason. You can scan that picture and give it a GFDL/PD-user because you created the image. Can you see now that by scanning a magazine cover you did not create the image (you may have created the file but not the image) therefore you cannot use the GFDL/PD-user tag. Look at other examples of fair use images, such as album artwork, and look at the fair use rationales the uploaders provided. Technically what you did when you uploaded the magazine cover is you said that you yourself created that cover and that you own the copyright on all the material on that cover (PD-user). You also stated that anyone can use that copyrighted material for any reason whatsoever (GFDL). In theory the actual copyright holders can sue Wikipedia for violating copyright protection laws. Here in the US we have a fair use doctrine that allows for limited usage of copyrighted material but a fair use rationale is needed. I hope this clears up the issue. I know it can be tiresome but you really ought to read the proper guidelines before uploading. If you had none of your images would have been deleted. If you still have questions about uploading or if there is anything else you need help with drop me a line. Naufana : talk 21:04, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Hello Dark Prime, I have granted your account rollback in accordance with your request. Please remember that rollback is for reverting vandalism/spam, and that misuse of the tool, either by revert-warring with other users, or simply reverting edits you disagree with, can lead to it being removed. For practice, you may wish to see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 00:45, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

March 2009

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Cradle of Filth, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. magnius (talk) 14:25, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Ridiculous. Since it's been ruled that Gaahl and King excluded themselves from Gorgoroth in 2007, the entity that was supporting COF was not Gorgoroth.
Please do not add content without citing reliable sources, as you did to Cradle of Filth. Before making potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. magnius (talk) 14:28, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
Sources added this time round. Dark Prime (talk) 14:30, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
Thank you :) Sorry to have been pedantic, but as you know, we do need sources. magnius (talk) 14:31, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
Don't worry. My fault for placing too much faith in the other articles. Dark Prime (talk) 15:04, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Assessment request

If you want to get an assessment higher than B Class then you have to nominate Gorgoroth at WP:GAN. However, I would advise to improve the article beforehand, there are still many questionable sources. Best wishes Hekerui (talk) 13:24, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
