Image copyright problem with Image:Whcilogo.gif[edit]
Thank you for uploading Image:Whcilogo.gif. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

Fair use rationale for Image:School image.gif[edit]

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

License tagging for Image:School photo.gif[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:School photo.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

- I took this photo for the school's website back in 2001, and I'm trying to use it for its Wikipedia page too. I don't care how this image is used, there is no copyright, the school hasn't copyrighted it, and I would love it if someone knew how to tag this image properly would just do it for me so we don't have to keep on going through these deletion warnings! - Fair use in Wikipedia is somewhat different from that in the United States (and if you're a fellow Canuck, somewhat different from our concept of fair dealings). If you own the photo, you can release it under a host of free licenses that would allow it's use in Wikipedia (in addition to elsewhere), but generally photos taken from websites are dangerous territory - the appearence of West Hill's website suggests they own the photo, you see. - You don't need to claim copyright to own it, and you haven't for quite some time. In general, where somebody is at least quasi-reputable, and publishes an image in this fashion without credit or such, the assumption is that they own the copyright. If you created this image, and lent it to the school, the easiest step might be for you to email the school, asking them to confirm that you own the copyright to the image, and forward their response to WP:OTRS. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
