March 2010[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, you may not know that Wikipedia has a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Using different styles throughout the encyclopedia, as you did in Game Room, makes it harder to read. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.  GSK (talkevidence) 00:30, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Scouting Project[edit]

--Bduke (Discussion) 11:03, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

David, I am bit worried about the badge images you are uploading to Commons. I suspect that you can not release them under a free license as the copyright will be held by the Scout Association. However, I am not an image expert. Reply here if you want as your talk page is now on my watchlist. --Bduke (Discussion) 11:09, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've tagged them to delete from the Commons - I'm also not an image expert. Can you grab them and add them in a different way - I can't currently upload images to wikipedia. I'm sure they are okay to be added to the article though. As you've probably guessed I'm not 100% sure how wikipedia works. --DavidMBaker (talk) 11:34, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You sign after your comment with ~~~~. Why can you not upload images to wikipedi? When you do, you need to provide a fair use justification. You need to read up on this. I good example is TSA logo at File:The Scout Association logo.svg. Also look at the rationale for the other images on the NE Scouting page. I really do not have time to help you right now. I am on holiday and taking a wikibreak, but I am ill so it was a diversion to do some WP work. If I uploaded them, I would have to add all the fair use templates etc. --Bduke (Discussion) 11:49, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry. mate, but there is a long standing consensus that Scout Districts are not notable and that we do not list Scout Troops or Groups. The University Club is already mentioned in the region article. If that and the list of Groups is removed there is nothing left. I will propose it for deletion. I pointed you to the Scouting Project for a good reason. If you read the archives and other pages you will get a feeling for policy and consensus. --Bduke (Discussion) 15:07, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:1stFramwellgateMoorScouts.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:1stFramwellgateMoorScouts.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:00, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
