I noticed your submission in Articles for creation, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/H. Reeves-Smith. Thanks! It will be reviewed by a volunteer soon.

Before it can be added to Wikipedia, your submission should have references. All articles on Wikipedia should have inline, numbered references after facts, showing the 'reliable source' (a newspaper, book, etc.) where the information can be checked, so that all information is verifiable.

Cary Grant wives[edit]

Google Cary Grant wives and voila. Sorry that you found the article I put weeks of research and over half a dozen biographies consolidating a mess. If you care to look at how the article looked for ten years when it had an infobox I think most people will value the article improvement from barely beyond a poorly sourced start class entry rather than getting upset at the loss of a little box.♦ Dr. Blofeld


I totally agree about the comparison of the article between now and ten years ago, but the complaints pertinent to this debate concern one fairly major change last year only, suggesting it was good before that, but no doubt there have been other improvements since then and will be in the future.

Wikipedia tends to be my first port of call because of the clarity, avoiding the 'messy' results of a Google search (I won't retract that!). I have since tried Google.... only the fifth site produces a straightforward list. Yahoo produces an opening list of 4 wives only.

It is really all very trivial, and not worth the diminishing of others, the bad language, sarcasm, implied name-calling/insults etc I see on the talk pages.

Anyway..... sorry again, I do appreciate your work on this and other articles. 'Mess' was rather too strong; 'confusing for my purposes' would have been better.

Hi, I have a copy of the Martineau book but no means to get at it for another nine months.

The ‘legend’ of the ball over the garden wall etc was certainly widely believed in the late 60s/ early 70s when I was at the school. It would appear to be an uncomfortable association for the school to acknowlege on their website now. But surely the headmaster cannot dodge the question from every prospective parent about the origin of the unusual badge? Maybe direct contact with the school would cast some light? Maybe there are letters and documents at the school which show the founders believed (rightly or wrongly) in the story.

The reference to ‘ballads’ that apparently mention the story is an interesting one. David Land
