Hi Deadrelix. Welcome to Wikipedia. Thanks for your recent contributions to articles about the Bay Area music scene.

Based on your user page and on the edits you've made, I can see that you have a lively interest in, and extensive knowledge of, Relix magazine and Relix Records. That's great. However, there are some guidelines for editing Wikipedia that you will probably want to keep in mind. Wikipedia articles should have a neutral, encyclopedic tone, and care should be taken so that they do not seem to promote a company or a particular line of products. Also, writing about oneself should be done very carefully, if at all. It's generally felt that when people write about themselves or their own commercial or artistic projects, it's hard for them to be completely neutral and objective. Another important guideline is that it's strongly preferred for articles to have references to reliable published sources. Articles should avoid what's called "original research", meaning knowledge that an editor has because of their own expertise or personal history. Having said all that, I personally feel that your edits have been not all that "out of line", and that you have added some good points to these articles. I would encourage you to continue to edit articles that interest you and that you have a lot of knowledge about. As you might have figured out already, I'm a bit of a Deadhead myself, and a fan of Bay Area and jam band music. Wikipedia could use your help upgrading the articles on those subjects.

By the way, you recently added some material to "Category:Grateful Dead". Normally the category pages contain only one or two sentences that very briefly describe what they are categorizing. I can see though that this category already had some article-like text in it before you added your edits, and that you just added to what was already there. Since you've added similar material to the Deadheads article, which is the perfect place for it, I'm going to delete it from the category page. I think you can't send me an email because you haven't set up your own email here. It's not letting me send you an email either. Try clicking on "my preferences", in the upper right. You need to fill in your own email address, where it says "E-mail (optional)". You might need to click on something to confirm your email address too. Also, near the bottom of the page, check "Enable e-mail from other users". Or, it might be easier to just continue the discussion here on your talk page. Either way is fine with me. "P.S." Yes, you have significant knowledge of Relix and the Grateful Dead, all right, and I appreciate your contributions to the Dead scene and related music. But, when you're editing Wikipedia articles, you want to be extra careful when writing about things you've done yourself, or have had close involvement with, as I mentioned above. In general it's discouraged to do so at all, although there's not a hard and fast rule, I think. Then there's the guidelines about "no original research" -- check out Wikipedia:Verifiability for another explanation. But, you can edit Dead related articles and still follow Wikipedia guidelines, if you do it right. The easiest way to create an inline citation is with a footnote. You can create a footnote with Wiki markup, by adding ref tags around your source, like this:
