Talkback

Hello, Deagle AP. You have new messages at Fumitol's talk page.
Message added 03:09, 13 April 2010 (UTC). You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Fumitol (talk) 03:09, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Kick-Ass

That warning wasn't necessary, as that wasn't vandalism. She is pointed out as uttering "Okay you c***s, let's see what you can do", and the "C" word is widely understood here to be "cunts". 192.12.88.7 (talk) 04:22, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Sorry I reverted it before you put the reference in, because your edit did look suspiciously like vandalism. Thanks for telling me.Adrenalin 150% (talk) 04:26, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Your rollback request

Hello Deagle AP, I have granted rollback rights to your account in accordance with your request. Please be aware that rollback should be used to revert vandalism/spam/blatantly unconstructive edits, and that using it to revert anything else (such as by revert-warring or reverting edits you disagree with) can lead to it being removed from your account...sometimes without any warning, depending on the admin who becomes aware of any misuse. If you think an edit should require a reason for reverting, then don't use rollback and instead, use a manual edit summary. For practice, you may wish to see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 23:24, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Congrats!--Fumitol (talk) 23:48, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! I'm looking forward to faster reverting of vandalism, you guys are awesome! Adrenalin 150% (talk) 02:52, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Your signature

Wow! You changed it! I hope I didn't seem too critical, but I did get confused by it, thinking at first that two different editors were involved. JamesBWatson (talk) 11:57, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Haha yeah the two things only seem related to me...so I guess only I would get the connection. Deagle_AP (talk) 11:59, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

My Very-Vandalised User Page

Thanks Nk3 and Sidonuke for your help with my user page. Man, this brings the count of vandalism to 8 times. Thanks again, I appreciate it. Deagle_AP (talk) 04:30, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

It means your doing a good job :) Keep up the good work dude! --Sidonuke (talk :: contribs) 04:34, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Same to you, Sidonuke. Deagle_AP (talk) 04:35, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Good work and good night

That's it for me for today. Good work on the sex pic vandal - if you have any more trouble with him, bring it up at WP:AIV and let them know that he's changing IP addresses.--Kubigula (talk) 05:03, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Ok, thanks. You did a nice part there too. Adrenalin 150% (talk) 05:05, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for the award - I appreciate the sentiment.--Kubigula (talk) 04:02, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

About Account Requests and ACC

I'd like to confirm that I registered for the ACC account creation interface, and I'd love to begin!Deagle_AP (talk) 04:55, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Declined as you do not have necessary experience to handle ACC requests. Feel free to reapply later. Cheers, Pmlineditor  15:59, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Anti Vandalism Userbox

Thanks, Deagle- this is my first "award". I will display it on my page. E2eamon (talk) 14:40, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

A number of people have doubts about the obscene version, as you'll see from the Talk page, but others (including me) think it needs to be included because the obscene person is the only reason that this limerick is remembered, and referenced in pop culture, etc. To leave it out would be to negate the whole point of the limerick, I think. But you may want to discuss it on the Talk page. - DavidWBrooks (talk) 16:36, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Fire Team Alpha invitation and 2001

There must be an irony here: the first contact I have from you is when you put a vandalism warning on my talk page, and the next day you are offering me an award for anti-vandalism services. On a completely unrelated note, I love your "2001: A Space Odyssey" user box. JamesBWatson (talk) 13:40, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Re:

Thanks! The whole "hall of fame" thing sounds very flattering. Anyhow I'm curious, what do you intend to do with the "Fire Team Alpha"? -Reconsider! 06:44, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Good question there. Well, I've just had a request to incorporate it into something else. If you want an update on it, I'll tell you in the next few days....hopefully. Deagle_AP (talk) 12:24, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

WikiPol/WikiPolice/Wikipedian Police Forces

Hello,

I created the Wikipedian Police Forces (also accessible at WP:POLICE). I would like to know whether you would like to participate in the project. Maybe we could integrate Fire Team Alpha, and also work together on reviving the CVU itself and making some advertising for both the WikiPol and the FTA?

Yours,

--Newbiepedian 18:27, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
PS: if you want to reply here, please give me a {{talkback}} message. Thanks :)

Hey, sure no problem. Do you have support from other members about this though? I've read somethin about CVU's presently inactive Fast Response Team, and maybe we could reform it into FTA. But that's just my idea. I might however be inactive for the next two weeks due to exams on my end, but I'll see what I can do. Deagle_AP (talk) 12:31, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
So far, no, I don't have any support, it's hardly even known, because it's just a rough draft and will be subject to changes. I hope to make it more widely known and get a little more support over time. And the FRT-FTA thing is a very good idea, yes. Also, I'm going to be a little inactive myself during weekdays because I am concentrating on a private project atm, so that probably won't be a problem.--Newbiepedian 12:55, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Warning users

A final warning for one edit? Really? -Reconsider! 13:07, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

I act rather harshly against IP users with a medium-long history of vandalism. Usually a history of that length requires a more forceful warning , don't you think? Deagle_AP (talk) 13:11, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
I don't think that a 'final warning' is warranted under such circumstances. Personally, I would've used a level 2 instead seeing that it was a relatively isolated case. Also, keep in mind that admins often cite 'incorrect warnings' as a reason not to block a user. -Reconsider! 13:22, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
It depends actually. I have to admit it was isolated because of only one edit being recent, but if the user doesn't learn, then there isn't much you can do about it. I guess you're right in saying that a lower-level warning should have been used, but a level 3 template would seem more appropriate than a level 2. But a page like this User talk:216.109.37.59 warrants a IP block report. Deagle_AP (talk) 13:27, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
You would be correct, if we were to assume that it was indeed the same person each time. However, we don't know that. There is a degree of 'user's discretion', but generally with IPs, most people return to a level 2 warning if it is the first warning of the month. -Reconsider! 13:43, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, that works for most cases, and I guess I should change the template then. However, it'd be nice if the users looked at their talk pages before making further edits, even if it is a shared IP. Deagle_AP (talk) 13:48, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, it's up to you. You're doing well, just be careful when issuing warnings. -Reconsider! 07:21, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

In case you did not know

I notice that you manually report users to WP:AIAV. While this is perfectly fine (I used to do it myself), you can also use Twinkle, to report users to the administrators, which has the benefit of increased speed. You can also use twinkle to nominate npages for deletion, request speedy deletion, and revert vandalism. Best wishes. Immunize (talk) 13:38, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip Immunize, but I only just enabled Twinkle after switching to Philip Trueman's Modified Lupin Tool. You can bet that I'll keep reporting these people. Deagle_AP (talk) 13:41, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

My language?

Hey pal, my "ears" hurt when I see people trying to minimize the war crimes perpetrated by very specific US soldiers with claims of "bias" towards them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Officer Boscorelli (talkcontribs) 12:15, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

I'm just telling you that if you want to express your views, please do so in a way that does not show disrespect to other editors. So please use calmer language. Thank you. Also in future, please start new sections at the bottom of this page. Deagle_AP (talk) 12:21, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

Ann Coulter

Are you KIDDING? That's not vandalism and you apparently don't know wikipedia's rules. I posted a legitimate inquiry on the talk page of the article Ann Coulter to create discussion about the article. It is not breaking any rule and can not be removed just because you want it to be. 76.114.42.231 (talk) 08:57, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

Replied on your talk page, and yes it could be considered unconstructive. Deagle_AP (talk) 09:01, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
Again, you must not know wikipedia rules. My post is not in the article, otherwise it might be considered bias, yes. It's on the talk page, where expressing an opinion is quite fine. It is a legitimate post that has sources backing it up. I simply want to create discussion about the article and I know I am NOT breaking any rules. I know all about wikipedia as I was once a well established user with thousands of edits. 76.114.42.231 (talk) 09:06, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

Also, it's still not VANDALISM, and such accusations should not be thrown about lightly. 76.114.42.231 (talk) 09:06, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

I did not commit any vandalism, but because I'm a nice guy I changed the wording to be less "controversial." 76.114.42.231 (talk) 09:10, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

Also, whatever happened to your WP:Assume Good Faith? This is a fundamental rule on wikipeda that you might want to read up on. 76.114.42.231 (talk) 09:14, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

Because you used the word "vandalism" which it was obviously not. Even if I was misguided, completely biased and was breaking a rule, that still does not constitute vandalism. Vandalism is something else altogether. Also YOU did not assume good faith first. You assumed bad faith on my part. As for what I say attracting criticism, I do not worry about that and neither should anyone else. Users shouldn't break rules but you have to also WP:Be Bold. You can't always worry about criticism. As I said I know about all of this already. I edit under anons now, but I was once a respected user with many edits. I know how things work around here. 76.114.42.231 (talk) 09:22, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
I became respected simply by doing my best to work with other users and work on articles, whether by correcting them or adding sources, etc. I respect your fervor to stop vandalism. I, too, worked on a lot of counter-vandalism and I know the thin line you are talking about. However, it should have been obvious that my edit was not vandalism. Read the first paragraph of WP:Vandalism. My edit was not like that. First off, it wasn't even an edit on the article itself. It was on the talk page. Even if my edit was hopelessly one-sided and full of obscenities, even if I was somehow breaking a rule, I obviously was still trying to express some sort of constructive opinion about the article and how to change it. At worst you should assume someone like that, even if breaking rules, is misguided and tell them to tone it down or what not to do. Still not vandalism, though. Especially not on a talk page. 76.114.42.231 (talk) 09:34, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

FYI

Hi. It's kind of redundant to leave multiple final warnings as you did at User talk:194.83.156.201. One is sufficient and if the user continues their activity, going to AIV without further warning is the best course of action. Otherwise a final warning isn't really a final warning, is it? -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 13:19, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks Mufka, I understand. It's just sometimes I warn the user just in case their most recent actions don't go unnoticed. After all, Twinkle arv says "vandalism after level 4 warning" etc. Deagle_AP (talk) 10:40, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Just a reminder

Users are allowed to delete warnings from their pages. -Regancy42 (talk) 04:59, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, but shouting at other users doesn't go unnoticed (ie capital letters). Deagle_AP (talk) 05:01, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Just leave it. It really doesn't matter. -Regancy42 (talk) 05:03, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Ok then, I hear you. Deagle_AP (talk) 05:05, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

See WP:RBI, WP:DENY. If they are clearly vandals, then revert, block (or in your case, report), ignore. Don't waste your time talking to them. -Regancy42 (talk) 05:34, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Well, if they want an explanation, in my view, they're entitled to one. And it makes the day more interesting I guess. After all, they aren't exactly vandalising my talk page. Deagle_AP (talk) 05:38, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
If it is blatant vandalism then there is nothing to explain. They know that their edits were not constructive. -Regancy42 (talk) 05:44, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

About your post

why was my post reverted?

Your post on the V12 engine was clearly vandalistic. Also I would like you to read guidelines on replyng to talk pages. Thank you. Deagle_AP (talk) 05:28, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

the Nissan Cube is a real vehicle!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But you didn't make that edit, my friend. The Toyota was your edit, and that was vandalism. Deagle_AP (talk) 05:34, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

These were my Posts:

  • Nissan cube
  • 2000 Dodge Neon ES
  • 1965 Amb Wagon

I hope this was helpful!!!!!!

Look honey, don't deny it. See this: [1] Deagle_AP (talk) 05:44, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

oh. thank you i saw the two of the three things i posted:

  • 2009 Nissan Cube

2000 Dodge Neon SE(the other thing was the Amb Wagon)case ya didnt Know. Thanks again Honey!!!!!!!!!

What exactly did you add to the page? Your only edit before arguing here was on V12 engine, and that was extremely inappropriate. On a side note, don't adopt a condescending tone. Goodvac (talk) 05:50, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
As Regency42 kindly pointed out to me in the above section, this IP user seems to be in denial. Still I think the user's more playful than others I've come across. Deagle_AP (talk) 05:52, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes, it's pretty fun seeing this IPs comments. They're very amusing. Goodvac (talk) 05:56, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Havent you ever heard of aShared IP address? This is the reason why you think its me!

Listen, my dear IP friend, before I answer your question, I ask you to sign your comments on this page with four tildes, and to indent them under the previous ones. Now, your IP address only made that one edit, the other ones were made with another IP address, and hence would not be you. So, therefore, you were responsible for that edit. Understood? Deagle_AP (talk) 06:01, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

No No NO Users Hack into other users IP address, and use theirs as a cover up for their comments. Get it .

Doesn't matter, you are responsible for your IP. We as Wikipedians cannot see who is operating at your end, and hence can only assume that it is you. It's just like making the excuse that your little brother messed with your computer etc. And please take my advice on signing. Deagle_AP (talk) 06:09, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

first off i didnt do it: my ip address is 198483156201

Stop denying it, we can see your IP. If you really believe that you've been unfairly treated, contact an administrator. Because evidence states that your IP is guilty. Deagle_AP (talk) 06:21, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Thank you i will do so!Good bYe

One thing that you may want to do is to get an account here on Wikipedia. That way you wouldnt have to deal with people "Hacking" into your IP address.--Fumitol (talk) 06:22, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

tHANX FOR THE TIP ILL DO SO AS SOON AS I CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're about to get blocked, so I advise you to abide by the rules regarding editing on Wikipedia. Deagle_AP (talk) 06:30, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, Goodvac, for that. But would this whole section be considered vandalism by the user I wonder? There's a lot of repeatin characters and unsigned comments here. Deagle_AP (talk) 08:50, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
  • Wow, you hooked a live one there 8-) I normally have to revert about 10 deletions from an IP before they start arguing about it on my talk page. Can't we get some of these IPs hooked up to little wheels or somthing, so they could burn their energy and generate electricity instead? Andy Dingley (talk) 09:30, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
<Shrug> This guy's an exception. Usually I report IPs, and they tell me to screw off on their own talk pages. Some vandals have way too much energy in doing the wrong thing, that's true. Deagle_AP (talk) 10:08, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Wildbot

Hi - just wondering - any idea where this edit summary came from?  7  11:15, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Sorry man, I couldn't modify it in time before I made the edit. I couldn't get to the UAA page fast enough so I clicked the first link on my AV Tool to report that other user. Really sorry man, I should have told you. Hope you understand. Deagle_AP (talk) 11:17, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
No need to be sorry - just wanted to make sure wildbot wasn't getting shut down.  7

It's gone, baby!

The redlink's gone because the article's gone, per Afd (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Japanese Torture Comedy Hour). Just let it be, friend. Yappy2bhere (talk) 06:41, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Sorry might have made a mistake there on identifying vandalism. Thanks for the notice. Deagle_AP (talk) 06:42, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Re: For being awesome

Wow! Thank you so much! That's a real honor to me :) I'll definitely add it to my userboxes the next time I update. HarlandQPitt (talk) 07:13, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

As fellow counter-vandals, we look out for each other:) Deagle_AP (talk) 07:16, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Issue

OK...I get that you're against vandalism. But if people continue to post something on a specific site, what makes you think that its not true/completely factual? (especially considering that you have no relation to the specific site that I am speaking of, and considering that its a post that no one but those to whom it concerns will read...seriously?) Plus--maybe what you consider vandalism isn't? Could you consider that. And BTW--fire team alpha?...its like a person with THREE first names--thats just not right. maybe like alpha force if you must stick to the same string(kind of funny...like delta force except for wikipedia)

Um, before posting replies on talk pages please remember to sign your comments. I understand that I sometimes make mistakes. If so, tell me. However, information needs to be referenced before it can be properly allowed into Wikipedia, especially if it is of controversial material. Fire Team Alpha is a group of people who are actively countering vandalism with me. Deagle_AP (talk) 01:42, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Good luck ...

... with the exams. JamesBWatson (talk) 08:31, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, I'm halfway through them at the moment. Time for me is an issue in an exam. And then again there are the careless maths mistakes.... Deagle_AP (talk) 09:18, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

about that..

i think it was a nice place.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Force101 (talkcontribs)

Unsourced material reflecting personal opinion does not belong on an article. Hence, it is vandalism. Please sign your comments. Deagle_AP (talk) 09:43, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

WOW! you have a lot of people that are always writing comments on how they think that they shouldn't have been reverted: doesnt that get annoying? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Force101 (talkcontribs)

This is the same as SupaBGG and that other IP that was harassing you. I've reported him for sockpuppetry. Goodvac (talk) 23:13, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
@Force 101: Well, I sometimes make mistakes and so it's only reasonable that people talk to me about them. Deagle_AP (talk) 03:11, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Things For Me to Do

1. Get approx. 500 edits under my arm. 2. Request for rollback rights. 3. 2001 Userbox (This user does not fully understand 2001: A Space Odyssey and hopes you don't either.) 4. Go and try to become an admin, so that I can block IPs myself instead of seeing vandals' talk pages filled with repeated warnings.

Update: 1, 2 & 3 completed.

New objectives are to make more friends, and create accounts for others if approved for ACC interface registration. Admin position only a long-term goal at present. Also take a short Wikibreak for exams. Deagle_AP (talk) 13:25, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Update #2: ACC registration approved, 2000+ edits achieved, archiving of talk page, seeking to adopt new users. Created WP:FTA and accompanying userboxes. Deagle_AP (talk) 05:19, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks

Thank you for reverting the vandalism on my talk page; that's sweet :) Emily Jensen (talk) 01:39, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

No problem, though the guy was being a bit sneaky. Deagle_AP (talk) 01:41, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Added box

Thanks :) Tommy2010 02:48, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

May 1st page....

Cripes man.....I was going to edit the page back in about a minute. I did'nt even get a chance, trigger happy much?

Please sign your comments in future. And when I've got anti-vandalism tools, beware! If you think you can get away with vandalistic edits because you're going to fix them up later, that's not the right way to go. Understand? Deagle_AP (talk) 10:36, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Thank you kindly

Thanks for the induction :). Huggle is a great tool, albeit a bit buggy. It does make it easy to fight vandalism while doing other things at the same time, which works out well for me. Any way, keep fighting the good fight! --SeaphotoTalk 05:40, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

You bet I will. Deagle_AP (talk) 05:41, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for recognizing me at Fire Team Alpha! I very much appreciate it. --N419BH (talk) 06:27, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Justin "Beiber"

C'mon. You know it was funny. 76.165.235.19 (talk) 02:44, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Funny or not, that was vandalism, and it was completely inappropriate for an encyclopedia. Deagle_AP (talk) 02:46, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
Sigmund Freud theorized that in some cases the Semi-conscious mind manifested repressed desires. Therefore leading me to believe that you, Sir, are the indeed the inappropriate one. 76.165.235.19 (talk) 03:11, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
Sigmund Freud is totally irrelevant to this issue. However, if you would like to introduce psychology into this matter, I can tell you that Freud's theories are not facts, and also your beliefs are opinions, so therefore what you believe is not necessarily true. If you are attempting to deny your own part on this issue, then I am afraid you are misled. 03:24, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

A Request

Could you take a look at this section on ANI if you aren't busy? The user is seeking an admin and I have done all in my power to help. User is getting a little heated and my help isn't, well, helping. - NeutralHomerTalk • 03:07, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

By the way, in case you are wondering, I asked of you as you appear to be the only admin online at the moment :) - NeutralHomerTalk • 03:08, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
Sure I'll take a look but I can't promise anything because I'm not an admin. Deagle_AP (talk) 03:10, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
Ooops, Popups must be on the fritz again, it said you were an admin. My apologizes. - NeutralHomerTalk • 03:13, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
Doesn't matter, I'll post a comment as an uninvolved editor. Deagle_AP (talk) 03:16, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Re: Fire Team Alpha

Thanks for the user box and for letting me be part of Fire Team Alpha! Traxs7 (Talk) 03:11, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

No problem. It's an honour for me as well. Deagle_AP (talk) 03:21, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Unsight reverts

Hello. One of your Wikipedia:Fire Team Alpha members, User:Tommy2010, seems to perform unsight reverts. He has unduly reverted two simple maintenance edits both clearly summarized with "Wikipedia:Categorizing redirects": here and here. I can hardly believe he checked these diffs before reverting them.

I've tried to warn him, but his main talk page is closed and I have a feeling he may not listen. Could you bring him a second opinion to let him known that it's usually not considered okay to use automated tools to perform unsight reverts so as to "up one's count" at the expense of other people's work? Thanks. 62.147.8.204 (talk) 18:05, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Conflict has already been resolved. I agree though that he could have stopped short of reverting the edits; you are correct to support your opinion with Wikipedia's good faith policy. Deagle_AP (talk) 08:33, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

Editor review

Hi, Deagle AP! I have reviewed you. Feel free to leave any questions or comments here, there, or on my talk. PrincessofLlyr royal court 01:32, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

I would like to make some additional comments, if I may. You've done an excellent job with RCP, but you might benefit from a more balanced approach to editing. By which, I mean that you could work on other projects as well. Just a suggestion. On an unrelated note, what do you think about holding a 'meeting' for FTA members? -Reconsider! 12:22, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
Well we could create an 'open forum' to discuss recent trends and other concerns (since the CVU discussion page is dead). Bring everyone in the team up to date I suppose. -Reconsider! 08:28, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
So are you thinking of a forum that takes the form of a Wikipedia talk page or a third-party 'actual' forum unaffiliated with Wikipedia? And if it's 'open', then there may be some disruption by vandals there as well...Deagle_AP (talk) 11:15, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
No no, keep it on Wikipedia i.e. the FTA talk page or something. If someone tries to disrupt the discussion we can just revert, per usual. -Reconsider! 06:50, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Improper reversion

I believe this was a legitimate effort on the author's part to address the copyvio concern. I don't believe a reversion was proper in this case. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:17, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

True, but you put the tag there right? I think that his blanking of the page wasn't completely devoid of suspicion though, since it was already tagged for deletion. However, I will gladly apologise to him if he acted in good faith. Deagle_AP (talk) 13:22, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
I admit his removal of the template the first two times was improper, but then having been warned, I believe his reduction of the text to a basic statement was an attempt to avoid the copyvio. I do believe he was acting in good faith. Looking at his history, he looks like a typical new user who has stumbled over a few issues but is basically trying to help the project. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:28, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
I too reverted and warned him, using Huggle, but I now believe he was acting in good faith. It is unfortunately all too easy with Huggle to see only a little bit of the picture, and miss the larger context. I have taken the liberty of removing all the vandalism warnings, but not the speedy deletion tag removal warning, which was justified. I have come here to explain this as a courtesy, since it involves removing material from a talk page placed there by another user. JamesBWatson (talk) 13:38, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Hey Deagle its fine man, but I think that i deserve a barnstar for that! no im just kidding around, but um if there is anything I can help you with, or anything I can do to assist you just message me back please! thank you Nepa=SBR (talk) 12:06, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

Grab some glory, and a barnstar

Hi, I'd like to invite you to participate in the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. In May, about 30 editors helped remove the {{copyedit}} tag from 1175 articles. The backlog is still over 7500 articles, and extends back to the beginning of 2008! We really need your help to reduce it. Copyediting just a couple articles can qualify you for a barnstar. Serious copyeditors can win prestigious and exclusive rewards. See the event page for more information. And thanks for your consideration. ɳorɑfʈ Talk! 14:41, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive Wrap-up

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. Thanks to all who participated in the drive! Over 100 editors—including Jimbo Wales—signed up this time (nearly triple the participants of the May drive). This benefited the Guild as well as the articles in need of copy editing. You can see from the comparison graphs that we increased the number of completed copyedits substantially. Unfortunately, we were not able to meet our goal of completely wiping out 2008 from the queue. We also were not able to reduce the backlog to less than 6,000 articles. We suspect people were busy with real life summertime things, at least in the northern hemisphere! We were able to remove the months of January, February, March, April, and May from the backlog, and we almost wiped out the month of June. We reduced the backlog by 1,289 articles (17%), so all in all it was a very successful drive, and we will be holding another event soon. We'll come up with some new ideas to try to keep things fresh and interesting. Keep up the good work, everybody!

Stats
If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you edited in the May 2010 GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive, your word totals are cumulative for barnstars (not the leaderboard). Over the course of the next week or two, we will be handing out the barnstars.

Recommendation to FTA

I would like to recommend User:L Kensington for membership in the Fire Team Alpha. This user is an incredibly dedicated vandal-fighter and has beaten me to my reverts hundreds of times (at least). They have accumulated over 20,000 anti-vandalism edits in their short two months here so for and counting. The awards on they're talk page should speak for themselves. Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors Backlog Elimination Drive!

GOCE November 2010 backlog elimination drive progress graphs

We have reached the midway point in our backlog elimination drive, so here is an update.

Participation report — The November drive has 53 participants at this point. We had 77 participants in the September drive. In July, 95 people signed up for the drive, and in May we had 36. If you are not participating, it is not too late to join!

Progress report — The drive is quite successful so far, as we have already almost reached our target of a 10% reduction in the number of articles in the backlog. We are doing very well at keeping our Requests page clear, as those articles count double for word count for this drive.

Please keep in mind the possibility of removing other tags when you are finished with an article. If the article no longer needs {{cleanup}}, {{wikify}}, or other similar maintenance tags, please remove them, as this will make the tasks of other WikiProjects easier to complete. Thanks very much for participating in the Drive, and see you at the finish line!

November 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive Conclusion

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors Backlog Elimination Drive!

We have reached the end of our fourth backlog elimination drive. Thanks to all who participated.

Stats

GOCE November 2010 backlog elimination drive graphs
  • 58 people signed up for this drive. Of these, 48 people participated in the drive.
  • Although we did not eliminate the months we planned to (January, February, and March 2009; and August, September, and October 2010), we did reduce the backlog by 627 articles (11.2%), which was over our goal of 10%.
  • 49 awards will go out to 33 of 48 participants. Check out the complete list of barnstar winners here.

Barnstars

If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you participated in the September 2010 backlog elimination drive, you may have earned roll-over words (more details can be found here). These roll-over words count as credit towards earning barnstars, except for leaderboard awards. We will be delivering these barnstars within the next couple of weeks.

Our next drive is scheduled for January 2011. In the meantime, please consider helping out at the Wikification drive or any of the other places where help with backlogs is needed.

Thank you for participating in the last 2010 backlog elimination drive! We look forward to seeing you in January!

GOCE drive news

Guild of Copy Editors January 2011 backlog elimination drive

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors January 2011 Backlog elimination drive! The drive is halfway over, so here are some mid-drive stats.

Participation
GOCE January 2011 backlog elimination drive progress graphs

So far, 43 people have signed up for this drive. Of these, 25 have participated. If you signed up for the drive but haven't participated yet, it's not too late! Try to copy edit at least a few articles. Remember, if you have rollover words from the last drive, you will lose them if you do not participate in this drive. If you haven't signed up for the drive yet, you can sign up now.

Progress report

We have eliminated two months from the backlog – January and February 2009. One of our goals is to eliminate as many months as possible from the 2009 backlog. Please help us reduce the size of this part of the backlog if you haven't already. Another goal is to reduce the entire backlog by 10%, or by 515 articles. Currently, we have eliminated 375 articles from the queue, so if each participant copy edits four more articles, we will reach that goal.

Thank you for participating in the January 2011 drive. We anticipate it will be another big success!

GOCE January Backlog elimination drive conclusion

Guild of Copy Editors January 2011 Backlog elimination drive

Greetings from the January 2011 Backlog elimination drive! We have reached the end of the month and the end of another successful drive; thanks to all who participated.

Statistics
  • 54 people signed up for the year's first Backlog elimination drive. Of these, 40 participated.
  • One of our goals was to reduce the size of the backlog by at least 10%. We managed to reduce the backlog by 633 articles, or about 12%.
  • Another goal was to eliminate as many 2009 months as possible from the queue. We eliminated January, February, March, and April—4 out of 12 months is not bad! In addition, we eliminated 37% of all remaining 2009 articles from the queue.
  • Chaosdruid copy edited Kutch Gurjar Kashtriya for 32,711 words, which is the largest single article completed in one of our drives so far. This article counts as six 5000-K articles, and Chaosdruid wins the "most 5000-K articles" leaderboard category. Way to go! A complete list of individual results is here.
Barnstars

If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you participated in the November 2010 Backlog elimination drive, you may have earned roll-over words (more details can be found here). These roll-over words count as credit towards earning barnstars, except for leaderboard awards. We will be delivering the barnstars within the next couple of weeks.
