I am a dental student, part of the Dentistry WikiProject where we edit dentistry-related information on Wikipedia to make it better researched. Since this is my first time editing on Wikipedia, I would appreciate any constructive feedback!

Medical content editing[edit]

Just follow the steps 1, 2 and 3 as shown and fill in the details

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. Remember that when adding content about health, please only use high-quality reliable sources as references. We typically use review articles, major textbooks and position statements of national or international organizations. (There are several kinds of sources that discuss health: here is how the community classifies them and uses them.) WP:MEDHOW walks you through editing step by step. A list of resources to help edit health content can be found here. The edit box has a built-in citation tool to easily format references based on the PMID or ISBN.

  1. While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which has a button "Cite" click on it
  2. Then click on "Automatic" or "Manual"
  3. For Manual: Choose the most appropriate template and fill in the details, then click "Insert"
  4. For Automatic: Paste the URL or PMID/PMC and click "Generate" and if the article is available on PubMed Central, Citoid will populate a citation which can be inserted by clicking "Insert"

See the Wikiproject Medicine tutorial for new medical editors.

We also provide style advice about the structure and content of medicine-related encyclopedia articles. The welcome page is another good place to learn about editing the encyclopedia. --Zefr (talk) 19:01, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Xylitol edits[edit]

First, remember to sign and timestamp your talk page edits by using the signature icon at the top left of the edit box.

On my talk page, you said: "Hello! I am a dental student part of the WikiProject:Dentistry. Some of my group members edited the "xylitol" page earleir today and all the edits were reverted. The edits were made by 5 users. The feedback they got was not very specific as most of the sources being used were high quality up to date Cochrane systematic reviews. Alongside, we attempted to find up to date journal articles as well. Could we get more specific feedback as to which parts of the edits were problematic? If some sources seemed unreliable or out of date, we can work on fixing that, but we also felt that the entire content uploaded was not that out of date or unreliable. Any more feedback and clarification would be appreciated. Thanks!"

My edit summary here gave explanation. What specifically are your issues? --Zefr (talk) 19:01, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your note. Fyi, when on a user talk page, there is an email option in the left column. Imo, Wikipedia email should be used for private or personal correspondence. The editor community who follow xylitol would likely benefit from and improve the article content you and your colleagues might add. I suggest a talk page forum, which is the purpose of topic discussion. Please begin there. --Zefr (talk) 00:22, 4 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
