Welcome!

Hello, Der Schalk, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, like Alessandro Piovesan, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for page creation, and may soon be deleted.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Removing Speedy at Alessandro Piovesan[edit]

Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles you created, as you did with Alessandro Piovesan. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:

  1. Place {{hangon}} on the page. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag(s).
  2. Make your case on the article's talk page.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 22:54, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Alessandro Piovesan. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 22:59, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deletions[edit]

Hi! The best way to avoid deletions is to add as much verifiable information to an article as possible when first starting out. Just saying "X is a football player playing for Y who is this tall and weighs this much" tend to be viewed as little more than declaratory statements. Having no verifiable third-party sources tend to get small articles of this type deleted quickly. WP:SPORTS and WP:BOLP can help. You may wish to consider looking over established articles on other players to get an idea of the layout. The more detail, the better. I hope this helps. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 14:02, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. You're more than welcome here. Since the subject of football/soccer is so popular here, you should tag your articles with a link from the following page: [1]. This is a full list of football/soccer biography stub notices based on continent and country. For example, you'd place the following under an article about an Italian player: {{Italy-footy-bio-stub}} which would alert other editors searching for stub articles to expand of its presense. This is what the template would look like on the page itself:

Good luck and have fun! --PMDrive1061 (talk) 14:40, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Carlo Garavaglia requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

—ShadowRanger (talk|stalk) 20:32, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I did see the discussion on the talk page of the edit. I feel that the level of involvement of this gentleman in his sport does not warrant an encyclopedia entry. But if you wish to take it to WP:DRV I shall not contest it. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 21:32, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Der Schalk! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 4 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 944 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Alessandro Piovesan - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Luisito Campisi - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

The article Fiammetta Cicogna has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This article does not establish notability of the subject.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Onthegogo (talk) 23:06, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Alessandro Atzeni, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alessandro Atzeni. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. MaenK.A.Talk 11:46, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Carlo De Angelis has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Nomination of Tiziano Frieri for deletion[edit]

A discussion has begun about whether the article Tiziano Frieri, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tiziano Frieri until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 15:45, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
