Hi ... sorry for the intrusion - but in trying to "discover" how to clean-up ... my own userpage & talk/talk page & trying to discover how to archive & / or retrieve?

I read through that cleanup to do "list" & I thought wow - I won't burden "all" with my burblins eh?

Um? Actually - that makes reasonably GOOD "common sense" to me - see.. as I did a Patent in 1998 and then 2 world patents as well - AND ALL OF THEM - were having to be written - in this apparently goobledie gook ((( OLD_TIME_ENGLISH )))

The reason - is that Patents " being at the extreme TOP END of the COPY protection scale (with the least ability to enforce I'v since discovered) apparently have to be SO tied down - as to be completely "COPYRIGHT" protected (at an EXTREMELY huge $$$ cost might I add)

When Others - can just "legally" lay claim - to vast tracts of "very" hard to prove "content"

AT no cost

simply because they wrote - or "sang a song" & / or someone even recorded it - & THEN SOLD THE RECORDING - and now they ALL want the total right to new content - that was never theirs - AND are able to "legally" claw BACK - everything made thereafter - simply because some little part - "MAY" be theirs?

I myself - don't agree - in principal - nor in LOGIC - to such a blatantly WEIRD scheme...?

Because - I have since learned - that the ONLY difference between a good accountant & a Good Lawyer - is that the GOOD lawyer ??? can subtract 3 from 1 to claim the answer at 7

PLUS award themselves a whooping $300 an hour .. for getting that weird answer "thankyou".

Ever since before I was 12 yrs old - I have been USING all resourses - (which MY CREATOR has given me - in whatever form) - to CREATE mine? And I will always consider doing exactly THAT - as my OWN OMNIPOTENT "higher power" CREATOR - holds ALL - as far as I'm concerned - FREE LICENCE PATENTS - on everything - that HAS ever existed - even before time began - which of course - precludes anything - someone MAY lay (so-called legal) "claim_to" - nowadays? (especially after THEY SELL that - to the public domain via (sold) TAPES & CD's etc...

Especially & possibly because of- I have spent (literally) hundreds of thousands of dollars on 94 pages of "intricately" worded goobldie gook, (along with 54 highly detailed technical drawings) ???

JUST for the - yes - HAD to be ALL written (and proof read by me - after each draft) WORDS - for my 1998 "based" world wide NZ Patent 330 552 (along with a similar quanity for each of the LATER obtained Aust pat 754678 & yes even the PCT/NZ99/00066 "as well")- which was THEN basically "worthless" trying to Protect - & so - after wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars - over 11yrs ? ? ? .....

So .. ? oops sorry - waffling again - ?

But... that hydraulic stuff (you couldn't make easy sense of) - was "written" in Patent Speak ... (& in English - but like mine - not very good though eh?)

Hi Roxburgh NZ! Wow. I have to tell you that it was quite difficult to figure out exactly what you were saying since you wrote the above in a very stream-of-consciousness style. I don't remember deleting anything from that page, rather rewriting a couple of bits that were had grammatical errors or were simply unreadable. (But it's possible I did - it was some time ago and I'm too lazy to check the history!)

Sorry to hear about your hassles with patent systems - there are few things I hate in this world more than patent systems, and particularly software patents and patent trolls. That's a lot of money and time wasted (well, hopefully it led indirectly to some improvements in your life too). But remember that Wikipedia is intended not just for engineers (or patent lawyers!!) - but for everyone. Therefore if a relative layman such as myself struggles to make sense of a piece of text, even if you find it clear (or you wrote it and think it should be clear), that might indicate that it could be rewritten in a simpler way without detracting from its content.

In fact, doing small readability fixups, removing typos and grammar errors and deleting obvious vandalism or clearly ludicrous statements is pretty much all I do on Wikipedia. I almost always leave the actual clever stuff - adding new content - to experts like yourself.

All I want is that, if there is useful/relevant information in an article, it be formulated in a way that it can be understood by as many people as possible.

BTW if you really feel that I was wrong to delete something, go ahead and re-insert it. We both have exactly the same "rights" on Wikipedia, and you clearly have experience in this particular domain which I don't - therefore your opinion on the technical content carries much more weight than mine!

Oh, just re-reading what you wrote - I specifically meant that the text contained lots of grammatical errors and weirdly written things which suggested that the text had been translated from another language in such a way as to make it more difficult to read. When I see text like that, I want to improve it so more people can understand it, but the more difficult the subject material (to my layman's eye) and the more poorly written it is, the less I can do to fix it. Hey, you seem to have incorrectly assumed that I was some kind of admin guy, or knew admin guys or even any of the processes of getting "admin" stuff done on Wikipedia. None of that is the case - I'm just another anonymous editor just like yourself! So I probably can't help you with those questions.

Regarding conciseness and "stream of consciousness" writing - you're an engineer! I searched one of the patents you mentioned earlier (an Australia registered patent on a kind of hinge) and saw a very nicely drawn diagram. Even if you have an indelible habit of brain-dumping all of your thoughts as you discuss a matter, it's still important to go over it and filter out the stuff that doesn't need to be said or contributes little to the discussion/article etc. I take a fair amount of time to check and fix up almost everything I write, due to a similar habit of being overly-verbose. If you can invent a new type of hinge and draw diagrams explaining how it works and why it's useful, then you can very easily type your thoughts into notepad first, then distill them carefully and produce a more concise, relevant and readable output. Discussion forums and personal blogs are a great place to practice this (because, especially on forums, if you waffle at length, people will immediately pull you up on it and give useful (if sometimes hurtful) feedback).
