Welcome[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia and the WikiProject Amphibians and Reptiles. It is great to finally have a herp expert from South America! It seems that our herp knowledge is mostly restricted to Nth. America, Europe, Africa and Australia.

I was wondering if you have any photos of frogs from the following families: Allophrynidae, Arthroleptidae, Brachycephalidae, Heleophrynidae, Hemisotidae, Rhinodermatidae and Sooglossidae. Some of these are on the opposite side of the world to you, but it is worth it to ask :). No species within these families have a photo on Wikipedia yet.

Finally, if you need any help with anything, feel free to ask on my talk page. Thanks --liquidGhoul 05:45, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was aware of the paper, however have not gone through it yet, it is far too big for me to go through at the moment. I think User:Isfisk is working on changing things to conform with the paper, but it is a very large job and requires some work. Great to have you on board. Thanks --liquidGhoul 22:35, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I just read through that list of photos you didn't have, and noticed that Allophryne ruthveni wasn't included. Do you have a photo of one? And if so, could you please upload it? I can't find a photo of it anywhere! Thanks --liquidGhoul 13:03, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Taxonomy[edit]

Hi, Dfcisneros! I only just became aware of your expertise in taxonomy and I know of a couple of places were we could use your input. First of all, closest to home, there's this discussion that I started up recently: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Amphibians and Reptiles#General taxonomy. I'd love to know what you think about ITIS, the EMBL and what the best taxonomic references my be for us to use here at Wikipedia.
Second, there's a rather heated discussion going on at the moment over here: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Tree of Life#Nomen nudum, nomen conservandum, and other nomenclatural terms. This is a story of two battling botanists, User:MrDarwin and User:Brya. The latter isn't being very reasonable, in my opinion, but complains that there are no zoological taxonomists available who are capable of making meaningful contributions to the disputed articles. Here's hoping you can help! --Jwinius 12:41, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Snake scales[edit]

Currently, I've busy writing a series of small articles with definitions and examples of different snake scales, but what I'm missing is information. I have lots of books, many with a glossary on snake scale terminology, but none of them cover much more than the basics. Would you be able to recommend anything particular on this subject, like some general book on reptile scalation terminology that every herpetologist uses when describing a new species? --Jwinius 16:52, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you appear to be involved in biology articles or WikiProjects relating to biology and human processes. This article, on a method for evaluating biological utilizations rates of proteins in humans and animals, was started in August and is in need of the attention of an expert. We are having trouble locating one and the article desperately needs it. This method is used constantly in bodybuilding magazines and products and is the subject of much misinformation and half-truths. On the other hand it does appear to have some value. Please help if possible. In case you're wondering why I picked you I just looked through some Science WikiProjects and biology articles and your name appeared a lot in one or both categories. Incidentally if you decide not to do this for whatever reason there's no need to reply. I'll just take it you're busy or uninterested and leave it at that. Thanks. WikiProject Ecuador[edit]

Hi Dfcisneros. You listed yourself at Category:Wikipedians in Ecuador and I thought that you might be interested in recent developments at WikiProject Ecuador. The WikiProject Ecuador banner recently was updated with a number of new parameters and most of the Ecuador article talk pages have been tagged with the banner. Please consider helping out with WikiProject Ecuador. Thanks! GregManninLB (talk) 14:54, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

At WikiProject Amphibians and Reptiles, we recently did a purge of the members list, which your name was on. Please re-add your username as well as your area of expertise at our list of participants if you plan to stay active in this Wikiproject. Also, a discussion is going on regarding the standardization of taxonomy in lizard articles, located in this section. We'd like to have some more voices in this matter. Thanks everyone! bibliomaniac15 23:14, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
