Comments on your BIOL 345 proposal[edit]

This should be a very interesting page. Here are some comments and questions to consider:

  • What other Wikipedia pages will you link to?
  • Are there other similar projects in Vancouver? Do they have Wikipedia pages? If not maybe you could make a more general page that describes all the farm projects.
  • Are there similar projects in other cities, with or without wikipedia pages? Is this part of a 'movement'?
  • What other Wikipedia pages will you create links from, to your page?
  • At present it looks like you only have one source of information, coming from the subject of your page. Consider finding independent sources of information.
  • You should plan to go to at least one of their farms and have a good look around. Take your own photos that you can use to illustrate your article. If this is not possible, maybe you can find photos on flickr and email the photographer for permission to use.
  • Please do your composing and editing in a Wikipedia sandbox. This will help build your familiarity with Wikipedia and will also allow me to keep an eye on your progress, offering help if I think it's appropriate.

It seems like there is no wikipedia site for any of the Vancouver Urban Farms, except for UBC the Farm (which need work). A few of them are actually quite big in Vancouver, I am wondering if we should do one page for the whole Vancouver Urban Farming SCENE/MOVEMENT with brief descriptions of the biggest ones (the ones we find more sources for etc.) and list other ones. Or just stick to SOLE FOOD.???? --Dga279 (talk) 23:20, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DGa279. So far I've only looked at the Sole Food farm, but there does seem to be enough out there (e.g. [1], [2]) to warrant an article. Bear in mind that everything on Wikipedia boils down to sources; to get a new topic into the encyclopedia you'll need several unaffiliated sources which talk about it in some level of detail; see the answer to everything for a few more details.
