Kingstonian FC - Notable former players
1. Lance Key: his nickname for most of 150+ appearances at Ks was the "Dog's Bollocks". I thought "Mutt's Nutts" would be more friendly. Is your objection to the addition of a nickname, or (?) bad language?
2. Jon Coke played over 200 games and was recently honoured with a Testimonial match. How/why do you rate this unworthy of inclusion?

- If his nickname was not Mutt's Nutts then it shouldn't be there. If it's Dog's Bollocks, that would probably require a source.
- Playing a lot of games and "nearly scoring a goal" is not significant or unusual, it's a guy doing his job as a football player. Testimonial matches are fairly standard as well. ... discospinster talk 15:23, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
- Playing 200+ games for the same Club at Isthmian level is highly unusual, which is precisely why he was rewarded with a testimonial match. If you are happy that the football club warrants an entry, then its most notable former players do so, as well. Jon Coke is a notable former player. Before you delete a page, don't you think you should ask the creator of the page whether copyright infringement actually took place????
I am the publisher at Lost Horse Press. I am also the designer and creator of the Lost Horse Press web site, from which I copied material for the Wiki article about the Press. It is not copyright infringement because I wrote the piece on the LHP web site. It is my writing and I can use it wherever and whenever I choose to.
Please restore the Lost Horse Press page, Discospinster.

- Hello Christine. When the page was initially tagged as a copyright violation, the author was notified on the talk page (see User talk:LostHorsePress). This allows the author a chance to challenge the speedy deletion. If there is no challenge, then the page is deleted under the appropriate criteria (see Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#G12). There is no real way for us to know that the author of the original text is the one who copied it for the Wikipedia article (since anyone can create a Wikipedia account and claim to be the original author or copyright owner), so for legal reasons we must delete. Good point, but John Middleton lived in between 1578–1623 which means that he was a live during and after the union of crowns in 1603 which means that he was actually british ! --Cormag100 (talk) 12:03, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

Wow, speedy deletion was so fast that I did not even get the notification before it had gone. Yes I copied it but the proceedings are from the 1920-30s so well out of copyright and anyway the IoMNHS would not contest. MSU Interview
Dear Discospinster,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, were it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
- Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
- Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
- All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
- All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
- The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. I agree; however, I must politely point out that I still do not understand why the article really needs to be deleted. I know it is about a character who isn't notable, but why not just keep the article? Also, why can't non-notable character articles be allowed on Wikipedia? List of horror writers
I have a question concerning the link in the List of horror fiction writers for author Guy Anthony De Marco. I worked with Darkwind on that page to develop a template for the horror authors I will be adding, particularly the new ones who are Stoker nominated. I understand why JG Faherty was removed, since I didn't add the actual page yet (I wanted to make sure I had everything right for the template). I did add all the info for Mr. De Marco, but you deleted the link again after the page was up. He's a Horror Writers Association member, an ASCAP member, and won the 2011 HWA Silver Hammer Award, not to mention all the short stories and articles he wrote. What does one have to do to be eligible for inclusiion in the list? Araminta Star Matthews, for example, is included and (apparently) approved by you for inclusion. I would respectfully argue De Marco is more notable, as he is in two pro organizations, participated on convention panels with pro authors (for example, he was on a zombie panel with Kevin J. Anderson at GalaxyFest in Colorado just last month), plus won an award from the Horror Writers Association. I would appreciate your feedback, since I don't want to add the Bram Stoker Award winner bios (which is where they hand out the Silver Hammer award, by the by) if they wouldn't qualify for addition in the list. List of converts to Atheism
Yes, the list is analogous to other List of converts to Foo articles. It should only contain formerly religious, notable individuals who have left whatever faith they were in to be Atheistic (or agnostic, I suppose? some guy moved one of the other articles to add and agnostics to the title.. ) Anyway! Yes, List of Atheists is a list of anyone who has publically proclaimed atheism, whereas list of converts to atheism will eventually be something along the lines of "A list of formerly religious people who now proclaim to atheism or agnosticism". Sorry, Sometimes I'm not so good at lede writing or titling... =/ I like to think I make up for it with mass organization of mundane topics (like religious converts.) Your HideTopContrib adjustment not working because of WP:AORC
I note you override User:Ais523/hidetopcontrib.js with your own function hidetopcontrib().
Your code (and User:Ais523/hidetopcontrib.js) is currently broken by WP:AORC (and is otherwise out of date compared to my version).
Your minimal fix is to change
li[i].getElementsByTagName("strong").length>0
to
li[i].innerHTML.match(/mw\-uctop/i)!=undefined
because WP:AORC uses <strong> for large changes.
(There may be other differences between Ais523's original or your override and my version, but I don't think they affect your override unless your li[i].innerHTML.match(/"\/wiki\/([^"]*)"/)[1] already doesn't work in some cases.)
