OSCE[edit]

Hi. The OSCE never acquired legal status of IGO because never created a charter, treaty or convention ratified and signed by member countries. However it is an IO in own right because of scope, membership and presence, all three attributes that define an IO.

So it is an IO but not a formal IGO. Legally, in case of a legal proces, it will be considered an ad hoc commission which started as a conference and ended up as an organization. It will draw its legal status from the IGO under which it was created if there is a document establishing that creation for a purpose. So, legally is an ad hoc commission of international scope, in practice is an International Organization, structurally and if challenged in a court, will need to prove first that was created by the UN and then will be treated as a part of it.

It can be listed between the IOs but not under IGOs. The IOs page should have a box detailing all IGOs and all IOs acting as IGOs in full right amd the OSCE should be there. I also looked at the OSCE page and can do with more solidity, if you want I give a look on it.

To anyone asking the OSCE is an IO.

Have a nice trip and carry me some virtual chocolate Daoken 14:33, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Afterthought: That is independent of the legal status or recognition it may have acquired individually in each country, I was talking under international law, however in a tribunal case in an specific country, it will draw its legal persona from its local legal status and recognition (i.e. if registered there or in some way officially recognized by a document, or the host country has signed its approval for its presence there Daoken 14:44, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
