Copyright on images[edit]

Hello, I have noticed that you are uploading a lot of images claiming that the owner of website has allowed you to upload the figures. At wikipedia, for such a statement to be applied, some more work has to be done. You should read Wikipedia:Confirmation_of_permission, specifically the section on what to do to tell Wikipedia that acutal permission has been obtained. You need to send them the e-mail, etc.

Also, you should crop the images so that the URL of the website is not shown in the images. -- Jeff3000 19:11, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

From the site "We respect the intellectual property of others and ask our users to do the same" there is no mention of copyleft or release of copyright... please stop uploading images from this site to wikipedia --T-rex 01:19, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
sorry, I've talked to the above user (Jeff3000) and apperetally permission has been given for that site. Thanks for the uploads and sorry about this hassle. Just try to make the uploads more clear in the future --T-rex 01:19, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello... you've tagged the above image with the "all rights released" tag, but have provided no evidence to this effect, and looking at the source website I can't see any permissions there either. Simply asserting "all rights released" isn't good enough; we must have proof that it has that status. If it is indeed an acceptable image, please provide such proof: if this is nor forthcoming then the image will (reluctantly) have to be removed. Loganberry (Talk) 00:54, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay; Jeff3000 assures me that you went through the appropriate procedure of emailing permissions (AT) Wikipedia about it, so now that that's been mentioned on the image there should be no problem. If you upload more photos from there in the future, though, please include such info at the time of upload; it makes things so much easier. Thanks! Another thing[edit]

If you could crop the images so that the URL does not appear on the photo that would be much apprecaited. -- Jeff3000 16:12, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, no watermarks can be on the images (see Wikipedia:Image use policy). The only place where the credit for the picture can be placed is on the Image page, such as Image:Watership Down88.jpg. Note that the see-before-you-die website has contacted Wikimedia once and said that Wikimedia can use the images, but Wikimedia has responded that they need another e-mail that says that the images can be used in all deriviative works, and the images be licensed under the GFDL. See-before-you-die has not responded as of yet. Regards, -- Jeff3000 14:02, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

See before you die...[edit]

http://www.seebeforeyoudie.net has confirmed via email that they have released all their images under the CC-by-SA license. Please tag all images you are uploading from there accordingly, using the {{cc-by-sa}} template. You may also wish to place the following code on the talk pages of the images to confirm the release: {{ConfirmationImageOTRS|otrs=2006082710007408|license=CC-by-SA|source=http://www.seebeforeyoudie.net}}

This will inform administrators that the images have been released, and should not be deleted. --RobthTalk 03:22, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have gone ahead and tagged all the image talk pages with the above code. In addition, I have tagged the image pages with {{SeeBeforeYouDie}} which indicates the image comes from SeeBeforeYouDie.net and that it is cc-by-sa. If you want you can edit the template, and the changes will appear on all the image pages. Regards, -- Jeff3000 22:20, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Cocoa_Beach88.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Cocoa_Beach88.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
