Welcome[edit]

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! August 2010[edit]

Your addition to Francis Xavier has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other websites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of article content such as sentences or images. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Please don't do this - I'm afraid that this taints all your edits, none of which are actually properly cited in any case -- see WP:VERIFY. Dougweller (talk) 14:40, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please also read this[edit]

I am not sure if the material you've added to the other articles is copyvio (copied from another source) or what we call 'original research', ie your own work. Please read WP:OR. Wikipedia can often be hard for newcomers to comprehend, particularly those with some sort of academic background or very used to writing essays, as it is so different from those contexts. Here we report what reliable sources (see WP:RS as we have a definition which probably doesn't correspond to what you think it means) have to say about a subject. We avoid questions in articles, adjectives like 'magisterial' unless they are in a quote (without being in a quote they are normally editorial commentary), etc.

I've reverted your edits but if any of it is really stuff you've written yourself and you have no other copies, it's still there to look at and work on. You also need to learn how to cite, eg no raw urls in articles. See WP:CITE but there is also a dropdown template window above this edit window which helps. I'm glad to help you develop your editing here or I can point you to various pages (besides those in the welcome menu) and discussion boards where you can ask for help. Dougweller (talk) 14:49, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've never doubted your good faith. Take a loo at some of our best articles (or they were at one time, some may have degraded) listed at WP:FA. That's probably a standard you can realistically aim at. Make sure your opinions aren't in your edits - fine for an essay, where you can make an argument, but not here. November 2014[edit]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Gian Lorenzo Bernini may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • Dominicans that the position of his rear end is meant to announce 'where I hold you in my esteem' (Ingrid Rowland, 'The Friendship of Alexander VII and Athanasius Kircher, 1637-1667' in ''Early

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. POV[edit]

Your additions to Gianlorenzo Bernini were good but at the same rather poor from wa the call WP:POV (though mostly referenced), and in general your tone is not so encyclopedical, as if you were writing for a magazine. Also too many repetion of Bernini Bernini Bernini... perhaps one "he" or "the architect" sometimes could have be welcome ;) Anyway, good work! --'''Attilios''' (talk) 10:22, 30 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

July 2018[edit]

Hello, I'm Aspening. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Francesco Maria del Monte seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Aspening (talk) 18:05, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
