Excuse me....[edit]

Can someone please explain to me why my pictures suddenly got removed? According to the commons, the images are still there. And I see you have expressed concern of me being a different user. Should I stop uploading pictures for a while? If that's what you want I'll happily do so. I'm extremley nervous right now. I've always loved Wikipedia and I always wanted to be a part of it. But if you believe my pictures are not suitable for this site, please tell me and I will leave.

No, you aren't. Please go here: [1] and defend yourself. If you aren't the same person, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Good luck with that one. --Nukes4Tots (talk) 02:31, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Exactly where should I go? I clicked on that link and I still am quite unsure of what to do.

Yeah, okay, I'll bite. Read this: Wikipedia:Sock_puppetry. If you ain't doing that, then you don't have anything to worry about. If you are doing that, then go to the link I put above and defend yourself. --Nukes4Tots (talk) 02:45, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Now I understand. Thank you. Well I am not puppeting so I'm relieved that I don't have to worry. But what should I do with the images? Should I just back off or will you take care of them for me?

Inauthentic and collaged images[edit]

You have put images into many, many cryptozoology articles, pictures which have no authentication, and in many cases which you have identified as your own work, but which are clearly the work of others or put together from the work of others. Please desist. DavidOaks (talk) 02:29, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes sir. And you're right. Some of those images are tagged incorrectly and I will go back and fix it.

I'm afraid it's a more serious matter than tagging. Many of these images may be copyrighted, and need to be removed from Wikimedia Commons. Others may be in public domain, but would need better id. And of course we can't illustrate creatures whose existence is unknown with images whose provenance is unknown. DavidOaks (talk) 02:39, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What I meant to say is that some of those are copyrighted images and I will go provide a fair use rationale.(If that is what is required) and will go provide more info on the other ones.

How may I get an account deletion?[edit]

I'm sorry. I tried to understand the concepts of this great website but I only made things worse for my self and you guys. I joined up recently and I have already failed. This along with me being accused of being another user and not knowing what to do under these high pressure situations has left me feeling I should probrably just leave. So I shall do exactly that. I'm sorry I could not have been able to help. Me being accused of puppetry was probrably the last thing on my mind. I don't even know who this man is but unfortunatley we happen to share similar interests and I seemed to have edited the wrong articles at the wrong time. Who could have ever guessed that? Anyhow, if you can post me a link directing to an account deletion I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you. And I'm sorry.(Dominick1283 (talk) 04:04, 15 February 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Well, your account does not get deleted, it stays once you are banned for sock puppetry. Future sock puppets and your IP addresses will also be banned. You should have understood this, Wikipedia has tons of guidelines and guides you're sure to have read once you got reminded of it. Not that difficult. --Nukes4Tots (talk) 04:31, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do whatever that needs to be done. I feel extremley pathetic, shameful and maybe even suicidal because of this. Just please, put me out of my misery.

Jesus Christ kid, stop being so melodramatic. Just follow the rules, it's all very simple. Koalorka (talk) 14:04, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

All right. May I be allowed to start over? All I want is to have some images on certain articles and after that's done you guys will probrably never hear from me again. And this time I'll try even harder to obey the rules. I know this is going to be painful for both of us but it looks like learning from my mistakes is the only way to succeed. I still am pretty new here and it will take quite a while for me to get fully used to all the policies.(Dominick1283 ([[User talk:Dominick1283#top|talk]]) 15:44, 15 February 2009 (UTC))[reply]

And I apologize for all the inconveniance.

Orphaned non-free media (File:Chupacabra sketch.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Chupacabra sketch.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:18, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Previous block,[edit]

Dominick1283 - your are clearly the same person as User:Josh Woolstenhulme and have still not gotten the whole message about uploading images, though admittedly you are getting closer. Before you upload any more images I suggest that you both acquaint yourself with the Wikipedia copyright rules and non-free content criteria. You have already been blocked indefinitely under another account for repeated copyright breaches and I am sure that you do not want a repeat. Come and talk to me or anyone at non-free content if you have any misunderstanding about the requirements here.- Peripitus (Talk) 06:16, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I thank you for your advice and your constructive criticism to my uploads. I will take your advice and halt my uploads until I have completely understood the uploading policies. But the main question I have is how do I get a ordinary picture I find on the internet on to here? According to my readings, the Non-free media seems to be the best solution but it looks like it is not. And speaking of Non-free media, what exactly is Non-free media? What are the requirements to be classified as it? And also, if you find an image online and if you modify it, is that considered to be your own work? These are my big questions that continuouslly stumbles me. I appreciate your help and guidance. Thank you. (Dominick1283 (talk) 15:58, 16 February 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Ok - I see you've had the same at commons, where the rules are far stricter, and I think that explaining this in depth would be best.

Wikipedia only accepts three types of images

  • User created images that are released under a free licence
This means that you took the image of an object/person/place and agree to release it under on of the free licences. Then others can take your image and re-use and modify it according to the terms of the licence you pick. This does not cover images you take of other work (books, films, posters, paintings, pictures, statues in many countries).
  • Images from elsewhere that are under free licences
covers things like US Government created images, flickr images that the uploader has marked as having a free licence, very old images (age depends on the creator, country and other things - if unsure ask before uploading) and other images that the original creator (not the person running the website or uploading to a forum) has clearly released under a free licence.
  • copyrighted (non-free) images
Covers everything else. For these images all 10 of the non-free content criteria must be met. Specifically the image must be one for which a free one could not be created, the source and copyright holder must be identified. Most critically the image must significantly increase reader's understanding.

For most images on the internet—the image is replaceable with a free alternate, the actual original copyright holder cannot be identified and the images rarely have free licences noted - if in any doubt don't upload. If you take an image from somewhere, and modify it, then the copyright does not belong to you. What you have created is a derivative work and have to take account of the original copyright holder's rights before making any use of the image. I hope that this has been of some help - Peripitus (Talk) 08:34, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you greatly. Now I think I finally understand. So really the best images to upload are free licenced work then. So for derivative work, how exactly do you get permission from the copy right holder? And if you do, what is the format to upload it? Thank you.

You don't. This is pathetic. You've had it explained to you dozens of times and you still trudge on, stealing the work of others and lying about it and who you are. Don't think for a second that you are fooling anybody with this drivel. --Nukes4Tots ([[User

Actually, No body has done anything for me except Peripitus. He actually is helping me unlike you guys who spent all of your pathetic lives on this bullshit website thinking your'e all cool by being the Wikipedia police. Fine I quit. You can have your little ridiculous site back. This is the last post I'm going to make and you won't be hearing from me again. I've already wasted enough time of my life arguing with you computer geeks about simple pictures that can be found in a million places all over the internet.

Uh, you already quit in your alter-ego Josh. Not sure how many times you've "Quit" before. I'm sure you'll be back as you came back after you quit the last time, REALLY quick. That's why there are measures such as checksums and sock-puppet checks, to ensure you are not abusing the rules and copyright laws... goodby Dominick/Josh. Who're you coming back as this time? --Nukes4Tots (talk) 22:01, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Quitting would be a good idea at this point. You've stolen images, insulted editors, lied about your identity and evaded Wikipedia policies. Koalorka (talk) 22:36, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
