Dragon Dollar of Vietnam

Can you help me to find some articles about the dragon dollars of Vietnam (Minh Mạng Thông Bảo, 明命通寶)?--Baomi (talk) 01:13, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

Like this coin:http://www.cnm.com.cn/zgqbbwg/132484/138112/index.html --Baomi (talk) 01:17, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

@Baomi:, e-mail me as I am friends with one of the leading authors in that field and he sent me some chapters dedicated to Minh Mạng Thông Bảo (明命通寶) coins, interestingly enough the majority of the "coins" that look like that despite the "Thông Bảo" (通寶) inscriptions are actually medals, also there are silver cash coins (French: Sapèques) with that inscription which are known as Sapèques d'Honeur. I could send you a couple of .pdf's about them from published books by Howard A. Daniel III if you're interested. I'll look for more information online later as well, though the majority of it tends to be in Vietnamese or French so I'm not sure how well you could work with it, but I'll prioritise English for you. --Donald Trung (talk) 07:00, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
This is my e-mail address, userbaomi@foxmail.com, Plz send it to me, Thank you. Vietnamese or French documents are difficult for me to understand, but Maybe I can read them with Google Translate--Baomi (talk) 07:24, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
@Baomi:  E-mails sent. --15:07, 4 December 2018 (UTC) Donald Trung (talk) 15:08, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
Would also be interested in information about Dragon Dollars issued by later rulers? As these were made until 1945. --Donald Trung (talk) 07:01, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

I was originally planning on writing about more individual Vietnamese cash coins such as the 明命通寶, but due to time constraints it never came that far, plus I'm de facto retired from Wikipedia as I have way too much to import to Wikimedia Commons and I'm basically done with all non-Vietnamese numismatic subjects as of today as I planned to "finish" with the gold coinage of the Manchu Qing Dynasty, I will however be fixing the list of Vietnamese cash coins by inscription before fully retiring, though. --Donald Trung (talk) 15:11, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

Vietnam dragon dollar

in the journal you sent to me, I just found an article about Korean Dragon Dollar, but not Vietnamese--Baomi (talk) 02:41, 9 December 2018 (UTC)

@Baomi:, I'll look for more information later as I'm quite busy in real life and don't have as much free time as I'd want to but I'll investigate soon. Also concerning these edits please apply them to the article "Qing dynasty coinage" as that draft has launched and is only preserved for attribution (copyright). --Donald Trung (talk) 07:27, 9 December 2018 (UTC)
it's not urgent. Thank you for the help.--Baomi (talk) 07:51, 9 December 2018 (UTC)

When I'll find the time I'll leave a note at your talk page... --Donald Trung (talk) 07:26, 11 December 2018 (UTC)

DYK for Chengjia

On 15 December 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Chengjia, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Gongsun Shu proclaimed himself emperor of Chengjia and issued his own iron coins (example pictured), in defiance of the Han dynasty? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Chengjia. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Chengjia), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Just a heads up

The feature that you mentioned at phabricator has been implemented at User:FR30799386/undo. Further feedback is welcomed. — fr+ 10:37, 16 December 2018 (UTC)

Just tested it...
@FR30799386: I just tested it and it looks amazing, keep up the great work (winky face). --Donald Trung (talk) 12:11, 16 December 2018 (UTC)
