Playstation 2[edit]

It's quite simple; being able to transmit saves to the Memory Stick means (with the use of a gameshark or Dexdrive) that saves from previous consoles can be transmitted from the Memory Cards to the Playstation 3. The enabling of saves from previous consoles makes the Memory Stick save usage on the Playstation 3 a backwards compatibility point; being able to transmit said saves via internet is merely an added bonus onto that backwards compatibility. In a nutshell, being able to move saves to and from the Memory Stick allows the PS3 to have a form of backwards compatibility with save files from previous consoles, if not with the save hardware itself. Re: BorgHunter[edit]

Have you looked at User talk:David Gerard? I don't really Mr. Gerard throwing around angry words or treating him like a vandal; what I do see is refusal to become angry or threaten BorgHunter. If others have used angry words with BorgHunter, it may be inappropriate as well but irrelevant to the matter I was referring to in my comments—unless David Gerard made inappropriate comments elsewhere that I am not aware of. There weren't actually that many people involved in the wheel war; there are several hundred administrators who managed to stay out of it. If this encounter took place prior to his bid for adminship, even if you remove the parts about blocking and such, you must agree that it is very unlikely that it would succeed. Even if it were back a year ago when RfA was less harsh, it still would not have passed. I've opposed several candidates for this sort of behavior, and many others have as well. BorgHunter may not be a bad administrator, but if he can't control his temper, he's not a good one either. Especially if he threatens with blocks when he gets angry. In my opinion, respect and civility from all users are of paramount importance on Wikipedia; one who can't provide that has no business being an administrator. Fighting Borg and fighting vandalism require very different strategies. I don't deny his previous good work, but it's not enough to buy this.

I do like BorgHunter, or at least I did before he did this. If this was just a temporary lapse, then he'll be able to easily redeem himself. — Knowledge Seeker দ 10:11, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ram vs Storage[edit]

It's not actually the same scale. Ram uses the binary scale where 1 Megabyte = 1024 KB. With storage like memory cards, blank cd/dvd's and harddrives the companies use 1MB = 1,000,000, and 1GB = 1,000,000,000. They do it so they can claim there is more avaliable space then there actually is. This is the reason they created the decimal scale prefixes to clear up any ambiguity. If you go to the sandisk site and then go to the site's faq's and navigate through it they explain that they use the defination 1MB = 1,000,000 bytes. Also you are just agreeing to me. By saying that 1 Megabyte = 1024 KB of ram, you are also saying that 1MB = 1MiB since 1MiB is also equal to 1024KB of ram. Seraphim 16:22, 13 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RFC[edit]

You decide to call me a liar and uninformed, you say " It's obvious that you have no idea what you're talking about and are just resorting to copy/pasting random garbage in order to try to "prove" your point. I'll say this- you have no idea what you're talking about, and you need to do a LOT more studying if you want to appear knowledgeable about the subject." on my talk page, and then refuse to adknowledge the existance of information that shows beyond a shadow of a doubt that you were incorrect in posting that to my talk page. You move discussion about a Manual of Style issue to a page called "pointless bickering". You continue to remove a message I posted to you on your talk page without any adknowledgement and claim that is is vandalism even though it is a responce to a comment you posted on my talk page that I expected a reply to. According to WP:TP "Actively erasing personal messages without replying (if a reply would be appropriate or polite) will probably be interpreted as hostile. In the past, this kind of behavior has been viewed as uncivil, and this can become an issue in arbitration or other formal proceedings. " and "keep in mind that your user talk page has the important function of allowing other editors to communicate with you. People will get upset if they cannot use it for that purpose.". Oh, really? How about repeatedly throwing abusive comments like that to my talk page? And then repeatedly throwing it back. I will say this- you are wrong, no matter whether or not you file an "RFC" or whatnot about it. Engaging in a six hour discussion just because you think you're right? Look, I'm willing to set this aside because I hate fighting, but you have to understand that what you consider "facts" about the 1,024 thing is actually a viewpoint conflict- contrary to everything taught about computers, that is, they always teach that storage memory is 1,024. I have presented you with undisputable evidence that memory card manufacturers and harddrive manufacturers consider 1MB = 1,000,000bytes. You in turn post on my talk page calling me uninformed, and yet you completly ignore the primary source materials I posted that prove me correct, and call it vandalism. I have never been uncivil in this discussion, nor have I ever violated WP:NPA yet you have violated both. All I want is you to post onto my talk page, that your previous comments were proven incorrect and that you apologize for being rude, since apologizing over here won't show up on my talk page history, and we will consider this over.
