Sophia Agranovich

When you moved Sophia Agranovich back to main space, did you check the sources? I still see references that link only to the front page of a website, like https://www.nytimes.com/ and https://www.fanfarearchive.com. I don't think that "problems with old versions as discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sophia Agranovich have been resolved" at all. Vexations (talk) 12:24, 22 November 2021 (UTC)

@Vexations: - Take a step back and consider how desperate you look. Despite bludgeoning that AfD with voluminous verbal vomit again and again, you still refuse to acknowledge the community consensus, and now you're badgering me again on my page weeks later. Nobody is forcing you to look at that musician's article ever again. Her talk page is the place to discuss the sources. Any future appearances by you on my page will be deleted and possibly sent in for investigation. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 15:06, 22 November 2021 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Live for Now (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. The box indicating that the article has multiple issues might be removed because the issues have been fixed: 1) it is no longer an orphan because other articles have been linked to it; 2) all references to primary sources have been removed while external link has been added.Edwardthesecond (talk) 11:42, 24 January 2022 (UTC)

I'm finished my editing at the above article, for now. I understand you volunteered to clean-up the article at both AfDs. Good luck with that.

One big problem are some of the refs, which were housed at the band's website e.g. the Tsunami ref's url is http://www.theredpaintings.com/v2/tsunamiinterviewnov03.htm

Its archive-url is https://web.archive.org/web/20090529181632/http://www.theredpaintings.com/v2/tsunamiinterviewnov03.htm

Neither of these urls work now and the original has been blocked from Internet Archive Wayback Machine for archiving or retrieving.

For some instances I was able to work around by using a Trove search but too many have not been recovered. In any case, have fun.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 07:07, 14 March 2022 (UTC)

Considerable deletion of content

I'd be interested in your opinion on recent edits at the above article. I'm concerned by significant deletion of content while some refs are no longer accessible (not even via Wayback Machine). I have raised these concerns at Talk:The Red Paintings#Considerable removal of content without discussion on its talkpage.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 01:14, 7 May 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for your comments at that talkpage. I'm trying to find alternative sources for the performance name, is there any way a screen shot of a page can be used as a reference?shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 20:53, 8 May 2022 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter May 2022

New Page Review queue March 2022

Hello Doomsdayer520,

At the time of the last newsletter (No.26, September 2021), the backlog was 'only' just over 6,000 articles. In the past six months, the backlog has reached nearly 16,000, a staggering level not seen in several years. A very small number of users had been doing the vast majority of the reviews. Due to "burn-out", we have recently lost most of this effort. Furthermore, several reviewers have been stripped of the user right for abuse of privilege and the articles they patrolled were put back in the queue.

Several discussions on the state of the process have taken place on the talk page, but there has been no action to make any changes. The project also lacks coordination since the "position" is vacant.

In the last 30 days, only 100 reviewers have made more than 8 patrols and only 50 have averaged one review a day. There are currently 810 New Page Reviewers, but about a third have not had any activity in the past month. All 861 administrators have this permission, but only about a dozen significantly contribute to NPP.

This means we have an active pool of about 450 to address the backlog. We cannot rely on a few to do most of the work as that inevitably leads to burnout. A fairly experienced reviewer can usually do a review in a few minutes. If every active reviewer would patrol just one article per day, the backlog would very quickly disappear.

If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, do suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}} on their talk page.

If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.

To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

Creating Artist page for me , Najar

Hello Doomsday . I’m an artist born in Angola , studied in South Africa , and currently residing in Portugal , I go by the name of Najar , and I’ve had some noticeable moments , like my songs and albums topping iTunes Charts several times , as well as having my music video play on a Tv channel , I think it was trace , I’ve also received compliments from Dave east on my music in my messages , my Instagram is @najarofficial_ , and you can verify everything I’m saying . Disputed non-free use rationale for File:MeenakshiSundareshwar ST.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:MeenakshiSundareshwar ST.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 18:12, 3 September 2022 (UTC)

Here is a barnstar to show appreciation for the NPP reviews you did back in 2018. We realize this is late, but NPP fell behind in some coordination activities. We have just caught up with giving out deserved barnstars. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:19, 7 September 2022 (UTC)

Natural Gas and other Canadian

Hi, thanks for adding the pic for the Natural Gas album. Is it possible please that you could find an album pic for the Truck album by Truck. Thanks, only if you can or have time. Karl Twist (talk) 10:29, 18 October 2022 (UTC)

@Karl Twist: I was only able to find one online image of that album cover, and it is not very good (looks like someone took a photo of a beat-up used copy of the album). So I put it in the article but there's room for improvement. It looks like you know a lot about this crop of 70s Canadian bands, so if you have the albums and they're in good shape (even on CD), consider scanning the covers and using them here. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 13:40, 18 October 2022 (UTC)
@Doomsdayer520:. Hi, thanks so much for what you have done so far. Yeah, I know a bit about these Canadian bands and learning a bit more as I go. Quite interesting stuff! I haven't got the key ones but I am hunting around the second hand stores. I will do what you suggested down the track when I get hold of them. Good idea too. Happy holidays!

Happy New Year!

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year, Doomsdayer520!

The other day, I was having a conversation with someone about holiday cards and social media. It occurred to me that, in the years since I left Facebook, the site I use most to communicate with people I like isn't actually a social media site at all. If you're receiving this, it's pretty likely I've talked with you more recently than I have my distant relatives and college friends on FB, at very least, and we may have even collaborated on something useful. So here's a holiday "card", Wikipedia friend. :) Hope the next couple weeks bring some fun and/or rest. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 18:14, 22 December 2022 (UTC)

Akinlolu Jekins Page Deleted

I got to the party really late to discuss on a page I created, Akinlolu Jekins. This was your comment on this archived page: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Akinlolu Jekins

Delete - Admittedly, he comes close to notability with two feature articles about his business endeavors (currently footnotes #1 and #8 in the article). For now, he has worked with a lot of famous people but per WP:NOTINHERITED he does not gain notability from them. Per WP:NBUSINESSPERSON he needs more reliable and significant coverage in his own right because he runs a relatively small operation. WP:ANYBIO is a problem too, because running a viable business just isn't enough. This all makes the article look like an attempted promotion of his business

Kind inquiry; how do you come out with he does not gain notability from them? I went through WP:NOTINHERITED and I would have been KEEP based on my understanding on the article.

Secondly, please how do I find the original draft article deleted? I would like to improve it, as it has been a while this was written.

Thank you. Pshegs (talk) 14:24, 6 January 2023 (UTC)

@Pshegs: - The article was deleted by community consensus and mine was just one opinion. I do not know how to find the original draft of the article, on that question you are more likely to get an answer from the other people you have contacted. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 14:45, 6 January 2023 (UTC)

"your reactions to criticism aren't making your nomination any more logical"

I did not get to reply your last comment at the Let Her Burn AFD. Just wanted to let you know that making wrong assumptions (which I specifically tried to address in the very first words of my nomination) are nowhere to being a "bad" reaction to criticism (I don't think misinterpreting is actually criticism) and the whole point of the nomination was that I found the album's notability doubtful. Consensus established otherwise and I am perfectly fine with that. Cheers. Bedivere (talk) 03:42, 14 January 2023 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Barnstar of Diplomacy
Thank you for understanding my criticism towards the nomination for Let Her Burn album. I really appreciate it! Dinah5667 (talk) 00:30, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

In your recent edit, you mentioned that it was sorted incorrectly "unless the nominations are combined". I intended the AfD to cover both the artist and his albums as you can see from my writing "Found no additional coverage of the artist or his albums; would recommend deleting all of those too" in my nomination. Is there an additional procedural step to make that official that I've forgotten, or did you just miss that part and I was fine? QuietHere (talk) 17:54, 22 January 2023 (UTC)

In its current state, if an Admin decides that Stickman's article should be deleted they might agree that the albums should be deleted too, but won't take action on those because they have not been formally nominated themselves. You will have to do the full AfD nomination process for all them, in which case they would all have "This article is being considered for deletion..." at the top. However, you can combine the reasoning into one giant AfD, through the process at WP:MULTIAFD. I think it would be easier to just redirect all the albums to Stickman's article, with edit summaries on how they're non-notable and uncited. That takes care of those articles even if the musician's main article survives. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 19:00, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
I was thinking something like MULTIAFD must exist because I'd seen it before but it slipped my mind. Thank you for the refresher. I do think you're right about the redirects being easier though (I assume redirects to a dead target are candidates for a speedy delete); I'll go do that right now. QuietHere (talk) 19:35, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
You're right about speedy deleting the album redirects later, but that's yet another process that requires a request/nomination process after the fact, and it's typically handled as a "housekeeping" process with little controversy at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 19:38, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
While I'm here, a question regarding a different AfD. In this one for This Is Fort Apache, you mention "Interview, Nov. 17, 1995, p. 136". Is that a real source or did you just make that up as an example? QuietHere (talk) 21:10, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
I made that up as the type of source that the other voter said they had but neglected to describe. Also, I am planning to improve that article myself, which is a respectful thing for me to do after incorrectly arguing that the album was non-notable. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 14:06, 23 January 2023 (UTC)

Also

Forgot to ask—if you don't mind sharing, of course—what's your PhD in? I am entering that dissertating stage where it's finally starting to come together, which is as exciting as it is terrifying. Any words of advice will be highly appreciated, especially if you were in the humanities. :) Ppt91 (talk) 02:27, 17 February 2023 (UTC)

@Ppt91: - My PhD is in Mass Communications, which is typically categorized in the humanities. My typical advice for someone at your stage of the process is to never procrastinate. Schedule a plan for everything to be accomplished between now and graduation and stick to it. You're lucky to be doing this now because the job market may still be strong when you're done. I got my PhD in 2009 and was under-employed for a few years afterwards. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 14:10, 17 February 2023 (UTC)

My apologies for the disruption

My apologies for the way I handled the discussion, looking back (even without knowledge of WP:Point) I should have reached out to you in question/seeking clarification instead of just going ahead and nominating the article for deletion. That would have had the most benefit to both Wikipedia and my personal knowledge of the platform. I don't want to be known as someone who is rude or too stand-off-ish so again I'd like to offer my apologies for letting my emotions get the best of me.

I do understand what you were saying about significant coverage in regards to the Hiphopdx article. I had a misunderstanding that since the song was the subject of the article it automatically would pass on inherent notability to the artist, that was honestly a foolish assumption of mine and upon further reading of Wikipedia policies I see that assumption was incorrect.

But in regards to the Lyrical Lemonade do you not agree that some of the criteria being enforced upon it is counter productive to Wikipedia. I genuinely cannot see anything wrong with Lyrical Lemonade as a source for music articles There are so many artists & news sources who, by the definitions being imposed on the article in question, would not be eligible but who are very significant to the music industry which defeats the purpose of Wikipedia as a truly inclusive and full encyclopedia. I'm not in any way disagreeing against the importance of having proper protocols in place to make sure that only notable subjects are included and not any "joe-schmoe" with a paid press release can get a Wikipedia page, but there are huge platforms that aren't being taken into consideration which is beyond mind blowing to me. I'm not sure if you're a fan of this genre but if you are I'm sure you know the significance of this platform and similar platforms. Officialangrydub (talk) 02:32, 17 February 2023 (UTC)

@Officialangrydub: - I have no opinion on Lyrical Lemonade and have not discussed it at the $teven Cannon debate. You can possibly recommend that it be accepted as a reliable source at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Albums though that will require community consensus as well. Otherwise, some articles in Wikipedia really do deserve to be deleted, but others deserve to improved simply because volunteers haven't gotten to them yet. Read over all the blue-linked policies that various folks have recommended. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 14:17, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
