Hi Maxamegalon,

Sorry. Trying to help add content, but in the form of links that were relevent. In the case of mariposaHD, someone else put the original link there, I just thought it would be helpful to be more specific links. First time using Wiki, so I thought that the way that I did it was OK.

In the case of Tyler, he made this trilogy thing that no one links to. As long as there is a bunch of stuff that he has done, I figured this trilogy was relevent.

So, how do I add relevent stuff like video links?

Jason, thank you for your willingness to discuss this. In a nutshell, I would ask, if the video links are that relevent, why are you the one who had to add them? I assume from your username that you are willing to admit your affiliation with the site you added links for. I can really only speak for the Tyler MacNiven articles. As the author of Tyler's article, I must say that while writing it I did not come upon any references to these other works of his. I do not have the time to discuss this more thoroughly at the moment, but strongly urge you to visit the articles linked to in my original message, and if you have any questions, to ask them again. Ya, obviously from my user name and e-mail (which I assume that you can see, too), I'm not trying to hide anything. I guess that I am adding because I am checking out wikipedia and I know that Tyler just put these up on our site, but didn't see reference to them on wikipedia. If you check out his personal home page, they are on there, too. Since he is a filmmaker, who started out with this trilogy (pretty funny and smart for a college kid, but consistent with his Stanford admissions attempt and personality) it's pretty relevent to his history on Wikipedia and totally absent. Other than Kintaro, I think that these are the only three things he has done. He's making another film now called Kissing Castro, so that's what he's up to.

Also, the quality is much better than Google, for what it's worth, because one totally downloads a DVD quality file and not just a stream thing.

So, anyway, not trying to be deceptive here, and I think that this is relevent. Not sure why I am the person to add it (check out his personal web page for confirmation, if you want). Also, you can watch them if you want. If you don't like the formatting that I used, then let's fix that (and maybe you can tell me how to do this better in the future), but I think that these links should be rolled back into the page.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Dovetail (talk • contribs)

Actually other users can only see e-mail addresses if a user sends one to them. One of the things that concerns me is that your site only has 272 Google hits, and that you may be looking at Wikipedia as a great way to increase that number. Really, including the Google links to Kintaro Walks Japan is only tolerable because of the source that shows how important it was to the film. At Wikipedia:External links, there is a list of types of links to be generally avoided, and it seems to me like your site fits #3, 4 and 6. If there is a reliable and verifiable source for Tyler's other works, then feel free to add it, but if someone would like to see these films, they would really be better off Googling them. OK, so looking at those numbers. #4 does not apply, since we don't have ads. #6 can be fixed by linking to the website and not to the content previews. #3 can be solved if you or someone else does the linking (a weird one to me, because it just encourages people to use fake names, which I am not doing). So, if you post it, not me, and post to the general website (www.dovetail.tv) not to the specific previews, then it would be OK. So, since he is a filmmaker and we carry his pre-Kintaro stuff, I'm requesting that you add a link, in whatever format you think is reasonable. Also, I think that, since you are covering stuff like his Stanford PR stunt, which is a fun part of what he does, I think that you should mention these early films as a part of his background. He made these while attending UCSC. Also, he's working on this current project called Kissing Castro, about walking accross Cuba, meeting people like he did in Kintaro, and at the end kissing Castro. All that is stuff that could be added to his bio, right? And if you want to see the other vids, seems reasonable that people have the chance to watch it on Dovetail. I've seen links all over to Google Video and IM and other sources, so giving people a link to where they can actually watch the video seems reasonable.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Dovetail (talk • contribs)

If you can find reputable and verifiable sources that discuss Tyler's other works, by all means feel free to include them in the article. As to the addition of your links to the articles, I must decline your request. I just don't feel that they add anything to the articles. I've given my thoughts on the Google Video link at Kintaro Walks Japan earlier, and I'd like to point out that Tyler's main article contains no links to his videos.
