Kent Tritle[edit]

Please explain to me why my edits are being deleted. I have been asked by Kent Tritle to update his page using the text from his latest program: St. John the Divine, A Recital with Kent Tritle, 22 November 2011. How can I update this page? Dpierce34 (talk) 21:13, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Even with a permission, the language of Wikipedia articles has to be factual and the source given, preferably an independent source. You seem not to know how a reference has to be formatted. Links to pages other than Wikipedia are not acceptable in articles. POV-words such as "acclaimed" are suspicious, "devoted to the vibrant genre of choral music and the breadth of activity in the choral community" is no encyclopedic language. What can we do? The additions don't serve Tritle's reputation, I'm afraid. I like him too much to risk that. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:36, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This is my first attempt to edit anything on Wikipedia. Since Kent's page is woefully out of date, is it possible for you to update it, using just the facts as you suggest? Kent is the new Director of Cathedral Music and Organist at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, and is no longer with St. Ignatius Loyola. Getting his wikipedia page up to date is my sole motivation (with Kent's blessing.) Thank you for your help!
Sorry, I should have gussed. Let's see what we can do. I suggest I revert your last change (with your blessing) and we build slowly. It will have to be extra slowly because his article is in no good shape to start with. For an example of an organist with "inline citations" please look at Gabriel Dessauer, - mentioning Tritle, actually that's how we met. Do you have a source for St. John the Divine, a press release, the cathedral's website? I suggest we create User:Dpierce34/Sandbox for you and start things there, before changing publicly. And finally, sorry for the delay:

Welcome!

Kent Tritle II[edit]

I started St John as soon as I found a New York Times article. Fell free to add other information from that article, but in a factual way, please, and rephrased, and add the reference after the puctuation: <ref name=nyt />. I will be back tomorrow, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:29, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your help. I have entered some text in the sandbox for your review.

Thanks very much for fixing this up! Since Kent's main pursuits currently (after St. John and Musica Sacra) are with the Oratorio Society of New York and Manhattan School of Music, would it be possible for those two organizations to be moved closer to the beginning of the article? Obviously, I will leave this to your discretion, Gerda. Thanks again! DiAnn Dpierce34 (talk) 16:53, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
