August 2015

Once again I repeat my two previous comments as nothing new has been added here or to the contrary of those two statements. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.175.28.138 (talk) 17:18, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

Well, it would help if I knew who you were and what you were talking about. Looking at your only other edit, you were commenting on the username warning for the user PandaJohnson. For now, I will assume that you are the same person.
The only reason I edited that talk page was to keep the comments in chronological order. You inserted yours in the middle of the previous message. Any further discussion should be kept on that page. Anything said here will not affect the outcome of the discussion or the actions that result from it. --Drm310 (talk) 20:24, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

Liaoning University

How are the edits you reverted at Liaoning University defamatory? The user was blocked for username violations but the edits seemed legit. -- Alexf(talk) 10:03, 16 August 2015 (UTC)

@Alexf: Replacing the official website link with a link to the attack site [1] seemed defamatory to me, although perhaps it's more just a case of vandalism. --Drm310 (talk) 15:00, 16 August 2015 (UTC)

Violations of account

I have received two messages regarding violation of my wiki account.I was looking forward to putting wiki content about my company in a similar way Google,Yahoo and other companies have done. You probably have to guide me on the procedure.

Thank You. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.21.123.115 (talk) 14:54, 17 August 2015 (UTC)

@217.21.123.115: I'm sorry, but because you're not logged in, I don't know what account to which you're referring. However, you should not be writing about your own company anyway. Please refer to Wikipedia's plain and simple conflict of interest guide and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations. --Drm310 (talk) 15:25, 17 August 2015 (UTC)

Please do not...

Please do not vouch for deleting other people's Wikipedia pages. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Prof Avi Gaming123 (talkcontribs) 21:06, 22 August 2015 (UTC)

@Prof Avi Gaming123: Please do not:
  1. Violate Wikipedia's username policy by using an account name that is named after your YouTube channel.
  2. Create pages to promote your site, which is one of the many things that Wikipedia is not for.
  3. Create pages about any topic where you have a conflict of interest, or not notable per Wikipedia's inclusion criteria.
And FYI, I fully intend to keep nominating pages for deletion where and when the circumstances merit such action. --Drm310 (talk) 06:33, 23 August 2015 (UTC)

Deleted Hupy and Abraham, S.C. page

Hello,

I wanted to know why the Hupy and Abraham, S.C. wikipedia page was deleted. Other profiles that are similar (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_%26_Crouppen) are still up. Can you advise me on how to improve the page?

Also, do you have the formatted post as well?

Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Devoncarrots (talkcontribs) 15:18, 8 September 2015 (UTC)

@Devoncarrots: Before I reply, there is a small procedural matter. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
As to your question, the page was deleted by User:DGG because it did not adequately satisfy Wikipedia's notability guidelines for organizations and companies. Wikipedia is selective about the topics it includes, so the article must meet these criteria in order to be considered worthy of inclusion.
Because you are employed by the company you are writing about, it is considered a conflict of interest. It's not prohibited to do so, but highly discouraged, mainly because of the inherent difficulty that an involved editor will have when trying to write objectively. Also, the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use require all editors to disclose their employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which they receive, or expect to receive, compensation.
For the example you cited - Brown & Crouppen - I'm not convinced that it meets the notability requirements either. I may end up nominating it for deletion as well.
If you want to recover the article text you created, you can submit a request at Requests for undeletion. However, I would advise you to use the Articles for Creation process for any future attempts. This will allow uninvolved editors to review your proposed article and suggest changes before it gets posted to the main article space. Good luck. --Drm310 (talk) 16:47, 8 September 2015 (UTC)

I request you remove the "delete" flags and keep the "clean up" flags. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeremysouthgate (talkcontribs) 00:32, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

@Jeremysouthgate: The processes of speedy deletion and articles for deletion must run their course first. If an article is retained, then a user with administrator privileges (which incidentally, I do not have) will remove the deletion message. Until then, they must remain. --Drm310 (talk) 00:39, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

Iranian American Wrestling Association (IAWA)

Dear administrator Dm310, Thanks for your comments on our page

I'd like to contest deletion of our page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_American_Wrestling_Association_(IAWA). This article should not be deleted because this page was not and is not intended to be created as a means of advertisement, since a nonprofit organization would not benefit from any advertisements. We are neither advertising a person nor any products or even organizations. We are new to the wikipedia, and that is probably why our page was tried to be deleted by you or the administrator. Please give us time to fix and improve the page. Any information or guidance on how to prevent the deletion of the page would be much appreciated.)

Thanks and bests, Fkhorasani (talk) 05:01, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

@Fkhorasani: First, let me clarify that I am not an administrator. I am a longtime volunteer editor with some experience with Wikipedia policies. I did not nominate your page for deletion, nor do I have any powers to delete it.
You will have to make your case against the deletion (as you appear to have already done) at Talk:Iranian American Wrestling Association (IAWA). The reviewing administrator will consider your statements before making a decision. Anything you say on my talk page will not affect the discussion there, nor the actions that result from it.
I'll try to explain why your edits so far have been problematic:
  1. The nominator felt that your organization did not meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines for organizations. Organizations must meet these criteria to be considered worthy of inclusion. Notability is established by significant coverage in reliable sources that are not affiliated with the organization.
  2. In terms of notability, Wikipedia makes no distinction between for-profit businesses and non-profit organizations. The criteria applies equally to both.
  3. Writing about your own organization is a conflict of interest. This is highly discouraged because of the difficulty you will have writing about your organization objectively and using only information from third-party sources, and not primary sources like your own organization's website or your own personal knowledge.
  4. Please note that the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use require all editors to disclose their employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which they receive, or expect to receive, compensation. If you are paid by this organization, either as an employee or an independent contractor, you must disclose this information.
Hopefully this clears up some of the issues surrounding your article. I wish you luck. --Drm310 (talk) 06:01, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

Username

Good day

I just want to say, i register everything in my Company's name which is Cape Web Solutions. Its easy to remember if i am on the road and want to log in fast. I think i'm go to de-register myself because this username issue policy is kind of childish

Speedy deletion declined: User:Pegasus imports/sandbox

Hello Drm310. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User:Pegasus imports/sandbox, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not unambiguously promotional. Thank you. Courcelles (talk) 16:38, 9 October 2015 (UTC)

Why don't you guys say it is "Prohibited" instead of keep on saying Strongly Discouraged? If it is discouraged, it still means it is allowed... Fundus Photography Page

Hi Drm310,

My apologies, I am new to this, so I have since reviewed the other vendor links, which to other Wikipedia pages about the manufacturer. So if Optomed had a page about their company would this be ok ?

Regards,

Arosystems — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arosystems (talkcontribs) 01:01, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

@Arosystems: Perhaps yes, but it should not come from you since you represent the company and its products. This is a conflict of interest, so you should not directly edit topics relating to your or your company, for reasons explained at Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations and the plain and simple conflict of interest guide.
There is a more immediate problem, however. Your username is that of the company, which violates Wikipedia's username policy. Accounts cannot be named after businesses or organizations; they can only represent a single individual. You will be required to change your username or your account will be blocked from editing. --Drm310 (talk) 01:28, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
Hi Drm310,
Got it, learning fast. Will make some changes to my username asap. I will have a good read of the other items and see what is the best approach within the guidelines. Thanks for the advice ! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arosystems (talkcontribs) 01:35, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

Creating Wolfgang Wild page

Hi there! Thank you for your note to me. I created the "Wolfgang Wild" page because I have changed my name by deed poll, and wanted to create a redirect from the existing page - "Chris Wild" - that has been created about me. I copied the text from the existing page - I was going to create, I think it is, a blank-and-redirect. Thanks Wolfgang — Preceding unsigned comment added by WolfgangWild (talkcontribs) 17:45, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

@WolfgangWild: I have proposed a course of action on Talk:Chris Wild. Please be aware that we advise people not to edit articles about themselves except in a few clear-cut exceptions. In the future, propose changes on the article talk page, and an uninvolved editor will review your request. Thanks. --Drm310 (talk) 18:08, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
Sure! That makes total sense - thank you!
(and thanks for the comment on signing, will be sure to do that)

Multiple accounts

I was trying to delete this account because I kept getting tagged as an autobiography when simply I'm just a fan so I thought maybe the user name was confusing. If I could please have this account deleted or disabled.ArezCobain (talk) 22:03, 21 October 2015 (UTC)

@ArezCobain:@GodOfWar88: Fair enough. If you simply abandon the ArezCobain account and do not use it again, then there shouldn't be a problem. Just so you're aware, you shouldn't use the name of another real person that isn't you. Per Wikipedia's username policy, those accounts are routinely blocked to prevent damaging impersonation. Just use the GodOfWar88 account for future edits. Thanks. --Drm310 (talk) 23:29, 21 October 2015 (UTC)

Thunder Bay Press

Hello,

I recently made some changes to the Thunder Bay Press page, but my changes were reverted. The changes I was trying to make are factual changes.

The parent company is Readerlink, not Baker & Taylor. Readerlink bought Thunder Bay and the other publishing operations that were previous owned by Baker & Taylor back in February 2015.Here is a press release to back up this statement: http://www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/industry-news/industry-deals/article/65674-readerlink-buys-b-t-publishing-marketing-units.html

Also, Thunder Bay has changed their publishing program and is no longer creating the same sort of books they were in the past. They are no longer publishing into the Then and Now series and are now largely focusing on craft and activity subjects. Here is the publisher bio from the publisher website to back this up: http://thunderbaybooks.com/pages/about_general_info.aspx

Tbptbp (talk) 22:15, 22 October 2015 (UTC)tbptbp

@Tbptbp: That might be true, but you gave no source in your edit, unlike here. As well, I am concerned that you refer to the first link you gave as a "press release". Press releases are self-published sources, which are not considered reliable sources because they lack independent reviewers (those without a conflict of interest). I this is written by a staff writer at a trade publication, then I'd say it's OK. I found another mention of it here: http://www.thebookseller.com/news/readerlink-acquires-baker-taylor-arms. This appears to be a trade publication.
However, the more serious problem with your submissions is that the text you put it was copied word-for-word from http://www.thunderbaybooks.com/pages/about_general_info.aspx, which is copyrighted text. You cannot post copyrighted material on Wikipedia; not someone else's, and not even your own if you are the copyright holder. In short, a copyright owner cannot offer Wikipedia a one-time license for use. Rather, the copyright to the material has to be released – permanently and irrevocably – into the public domain or under a free copyright license that is compatible with Wikipedia's licenses. This is because Wikipedia aims to be freely distributable and copyable by anyone, so all content must be licensed for that purpose. You can learn more about this policy at Wikipedia:Copyrights.
Your username suggests that this account represents Thunder Bay Press. Accounts cannot be named after businesses as this violates Wikipedia's username policy. You will need to change your username or your account will be blocked on those grounds.
Regardless of your username, it is not advisable for you to directly an article about your company directly, for reasons explained at Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations and the plain and simple conflict of interest guide. In addition, if you are employed by the company or otherwise receive compensation for your editing on their behalf, you are required to disclose this fact per Wikipedia's terms of use. --Drm310 (talk) 02:55, 23 October 2015 (UTC)

VS Media

Hi,

I sincerely hope that you could share why this page should be deleted other than all the existing MCN wiki pages, I am willing to do amendment to fulfill the requirement but first I need to know which part I need to correct, thank you. I have made certain editing to avoid possible promotional elements. Thanks.-Patrickyu2014 (talk) 02:24, 11 November 2015 (UTC)

@Patrickyu2014: A company must be notable to be considered worthy of inclusion. When I nominated it for deletion, the only references were to social media sites. These are by definition self-published sources - user-generated content with no editorial oversight. They cannot be accepted as sources to establish the company's notability.
If you want to present an opposing point of view to the deletion, you need to do so at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/VS Media. I see you mistakenly put a response on Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/VS Media - I have moved it over to the correct location. Please put any future posts there... posts you put anywhere else will not affect the debate or the actions that result from it. Thanks. --Drm310 (talk) 04:35, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

Removing the external links, Birthing chair page, Marketing Birthsparks

Hi,

You sent me a message of removing the external link that was added by me on a Birthing Chair page. The link I have inserted was leading to the official page of the CUB support which is the latest innovative invention in birthing chairs. I work in this business so I would not misuse our webpage address by placing it in the irrelevant context. Could you please check out the site www.cub-support.com? I will be hoping that the link can be restored as it is a way of informing more mothers on the better birth experiences.

Thank you.

Kind regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marketing Birthsparks (talkcontribs) 15:18, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

@Marketing Birthsparks: There is a commercial motivation behind your addition, as it's intended drive traffic to that website. Per WP:ADV, this is not permitted.
If this type of birthing chair is notable, it must be supported by citations to reliable sources that are independent of any business or organization with a commercial interest in them.
Given your username, you have an inherent conflict of interest in editing this topic, and you should review Wikipedia's conflict of interest guide to learn why this type of editing is highly discouraged. If you are being paid for your efforts, then you are required to disclose this fact per Wikipedia's terms of use.
Your username also violates Wikipedia's username policy. Accounts cannot be named after businesses or posts within them. You will have to request a change of username or your account will be blocked on those grounds. --Drm310 (talk) 15:43, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Prowareness Article

Hi Drm310,

I have added an article Prowareness recently in Wikipedia, I assure you that i have gone through all the terms and conditions of Wikipedia.org before doing the same. All the contents in the article are true to best of my knowledge and of neutral point of view. We will not be doing any promotion or advertisement using the Wikipedia.org Also we have just started the article and are in process of updating the article with proper and decent content which might be helpful for the community. Again , It just information which we shared.

Please let me know if you find any discrepancies in the same.

Thanks, Sanjiv04 (talk) 09:31, 26 November 2015 (UTC)

@Sanjiv04: It appears that User:Psychonaut has given you lots of good information already, so I won't bother repeating it.
The only other thing I will mention is that when I searched on your name and the names of the two other accounts that contested the speedy deletion, they were either complete or partial matches to employees of Prowareness. If any of you are employed by this company, then you are required to disclose this information if you intend to write about the company. Attempting to conceal an affiliation to a topic can have serious consequences, including a loss of editing privileges.
Since the article was deleted, might I suggest the Articles for Creation process instead. This will let you submit a draft article for other uninvolved editors to review before it's published. Be aware that there is usually a backlog, so it may take several days or weeks for your work to be reviewed. --Drm310 (talk) 15:12, 26 November 2015 (UTC)

Tagging

Hey, thanks for tagging those articles I've flagged for speedy although I'm not seeing much use as they're going to be deleted anyway (unless they ever become notable and acceptable later) and let me assure I've been speedying so many of these old articles and they've now been deleted, you missed several. Cheers, SwisterTwister talk 07:35, 29 November 2015 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User talk:Pizzedd (musician), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. CSJ link removal

Our print magazine was featured in this movie but if that's not allowed I understand.

Thanks! Crabstreet (talk) 20:08, 1 January 2016 (UTC)

@Crabstreet: It is not, per Wikipedia's external links policy and the section links normally to be avoided in particular.
Also not allowed is your username, as it represents a business. Account names can only represent individual people. You should change your username immediately or your account will be blocked on these grounds.
Also, please review Wikipedia's policies against promotion/publicity and conflict of interest. You should not be editing with any intention of promoting your business. Thanks. --Drm310 (talk) 20:15, 1 January 2016 (UTC)

Rasoul Montajabnia

Hi there The information about me is wrong on the wikipedia and I tried to edit it but it came back to previeus information , Please check the information and see that the name is wrong , right name is Rasoul Montajabnia .

I will try to edit it and change the wrong information .

Best Regards Rasoul Montajabnia info@montajabnia.net

@Montajabnia: I strongly advise against editing an article about yourself, per Wikipedia's policy on autobiographies. There are some suggested ways of dealing with issues, outlined in the sections If Wikipedia already has an article about you and Problems in an article about you. I recommend you follow these instead of editing the article directly.
You cannot use your own personal knowledge as article content, nor can you delete content that is backed up by reliable sources and presented in a neutral point of view with proper balance. --Drm310 (talk) 18:42, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

TheMajikCreeper deletion

why was my page deleted i was trying to write about a upcoming youtuber i have to edit it more first

@Themajikcreeper: I did not delete your page - another user with administrative privileges did. Regardless of that, Wikipedia articles are not about up and coming topics. They are about topics that are already notable, as evidenced by significant coverage in reliable sources. Articles about people, especially living persons, must meet specific criteria to be considered worthy of inclusion.
It is also highly advised that you not write about yourself, for reasons explained at Wikipedia is not about YOU and Wikipedia:Autobiography. If you truly believe that you are a worthy subject for an article, try the Articles for Creation process. Thanks. --Drm310 (talk) 14:37, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi! Just thought I'd drop you a note to let you know you do not need to take lower school articles to AfD. Simply redirect them to the school district, the dioscie, or lacking any better target, the community in which it is located, then add Template:r from school after the redirect coding. If your redirect is reverted, well ya, then you gotta go to AfD. Thanks. John from Idegon (talk) 09:32, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

Help

The page we were working on (Martin Babinec) no longer exists. Can you assist so we can move forward? Kathryn Cartini 25, January 2016 (EST)

@Kathryn Cartini: Hi Kathryn. The deleting administrator (Cryptic) must have thought that the article was too promotional to salvage, and deleted it under the G11 criteria of speedy deletion. Here's what I would do next:
  • If you want the text back, go to Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion and enter the article title (Martin Babinec) in the request form.
  • Ask that it be restored to the draft space, where you can work on it with far less risk of it being deleted. This also enables you to submit it for review with another editor, so that you can be notified of potential issues prior to it being posted in the main article space.
  • Mention that I, an uninvolved editor, have been assisting you and will continue to do so if the article is restored as a draft.
  • Also mention your disclosure of being a paid editor on your userpage. This will demonstrate that you're editing in good faith and being transparent about your connection to the subject.
  • However, be aware that the review process can be long (several days to weeks). There are often several hundred draft articles waiting for review, so it can take some time before yours is seen to.
I can assist you once the article is restored to the draft space, but I will be going on vacation shortly. I will help you out when I return in early February. Good luck, and I hope it all goes well for you.
P.S. The {{help me}} template is meant for your own talk page. You won't need it now, anyway. --Drm310 (talk) 15:41, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

You can rewrite it, certainly, but it must be in your own words and not using copyrighted text. Alternatively, you could go through the steps of donating the copyrighted material and then recreate the draft with the donated text.
Regardless, you would have to include a disclosure, as you are affiliated with the overall institution that includes this organization. I used to work at a university in the IT department; if I wrote about one of the organizations within the university, I would have to disclose my employer, even though I wasn't particularly employed by the subject organization. Internal divisions don't mean anything to anyone outside the institution. The disclosures are meant to show good faith and be transparent about one's affiliations.
I will caution you about saying that your job is to "promote awareness" about the organization. Wikipedia is not for promotion or publicity; no one is permitted to use Wikipedia for interests that are unduly self-serving, even if directed to do so by someone else. Wikipedia articles are about notable topics, and only organizations that are notable as Wikipedia defines it are considered worthy of inclusion. This means the subject has received significant coverage in sources that are considered reliable and independent of the subject. Wikipedia makes no distinction between for-profit businesses and non-profit organizations in this regard.
Please be aware that if an article does manage to get created, anyone can edit it at any time. Articles are subject to continuous editing, sometimes extensively. No one owns an article and content is arrived at by consensus in according with Wikipedia policies. You can edit it, but that doesn't mean you should. Editors with a conflict of interest are instead encouraged to propose changes on the article talk page that other uninvolved editors can make.
Good luck and best wishes for a positive outcome. --Drm310 (talk) 01:07, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
