Namsan[edit]

Hi,

That was an interesting read, thanks. But even that article makes it clear that this interpretation is not generally accepted. Maybe this isn't a very important issue, but in a Wikipedia translation it is be much better to stay close to the original words of the text. We can always talk about the different interpretations of Namsan in the article itself. As you may know, the question doesn't end with Seoul's Namsan vs. Apsan. If you've read 리의두's 올바른 우리말 사용법, he takes a different angle on this in his treatment of the various misreadings of the Aegukga. He suggests that the "Namsan" is meant to represent all of the different "Namsans" around Korea (p. 68). I'm sure others have made their own proposals as well. So again, I think it's best if we keep the interpretation in the article text and out of the translation, particularly when it is still a matter of dispute. -- Visviva 17:32, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bosintang[edit]

Hi Drpepper, you haven't given an edit summary for this edit. Did you remove the sentence because there is street advertisement for bosintang by restaurants in South Korea? I meant signs that can easily be seen when you are on the street in front of a restaurant, drawing attention to dishes the restaurant offers, for example an A-shaped sign with a list of some dishes. Thanks, Wikipeditor 01:50, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure you're the creator of Image:Bosintang.jpg? I'm asking because it doesn't look like your average restaurant meal, with the booze, colours and attention to detail, not to mention the table.

There seems to be some rule that images must not be used if a free replacement can be created, and visible brands in images are not well received either. Wikipeditor 03:40, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Crazy[edit]

Why did You delete a REQUEST for a movie article? Of course, no one has written ar article on it: other-wise I wouldn't have put a rquest up ! Wik should be encyclopedic. Just because You think a film is unimportant (how many movies can truly becalled important any-way?), is not grounds for barring it. I was under the impression it was just coming out (but maybe it's just coming out on video or DVD). Any-way, here's a comment that shows it has some visibility: "As a social critique of modern Korean society, "Crazy Marriage" has a lot to say. But one suspects that its themes are universal, and it takes a woman of Yeon-hee's cunning and intelligence to not just maneuver through the minefield of modern courtship, but do it so effectively that no one is the wiser unless she decides to let them in on her secret. A scene early on, when Yeon-hee sets up two men from which to pick from, is a good example. As the kids like to say -- hate the game, not the player. Movie Grade: 4/5" (http://www.beyondhollywood.com/reviews/crazymarriage.htm) . It even is marginally on Rotten Tomatoes; http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/marriage_is_a_crazy_thing/ .

If so, why do nobody edit it? I dont think it is reputabl movie

re: You are Right[edit]

But, it is a word that must not be used in future.

Hi, linguistic prescriptivism is a POV. Wikipedia articles should not have POV; please read the WP:NPOV policy. You should also be careful not to introduce POV into any edits that you do. --Kjoonlee 06:09, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

However, Kosian is POV because it is used in point of nationalist of Korean. Is korean not asian? This word also violate NPOV rule.

No, we can report the POV of other people, as long as we do it in an NPOV way. There is a difference. --Kjoonlee 06:17, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And please note the reason Onnurian was redirected is because it was a redundant fork; it would have been merged/deleted/redirected anyway even if it was NPOV. --Kjoonlee 06:20, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I understand what you said, so I did not restore it. However, what I am going to say is that Kosian is a word to discriminate race between pure korean and half-breed Korean--Drpepper000 06:29, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Well, that doesn't matter at Wikipedia. We deal with POV subjects too. We have articles on racism, murder, nigger, and sex. --Kjoonlee 06:31, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't matter if it's POV or bad or taboo; if it's encyclopedic and the writing is NPOV, it's OK. --Kjoonlee 06:33, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Korean royal cuisine[edit]

Wow! You expanded the article by some quadruples! Thanks a lot. I hope you provide reference to your contributions. (Wikimachine 17:44, 1 November 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Eating lichens[edit]

Hi there. You added to the rock tripe entry to say it is commonly eaten in East Asia. I am a researcher from Canada who is looking at the edible uses of lichens. I'm guessing that you are referring to Umbilicaria esculenta, called Iwa-take in Japanese, and I think seog-eui-beo-seod in Korean. I don't know much about that part of the world, and I was wondering if you could tell me more about the lichens you are referring to? I was under the impression that Umbilicaria esculenta was very expensive, and so was only eaten very rarely and in small quantities.

Re: Thanks[edit]

You're welcomed. You've been doing a lot of good work recently. --¿¡Exir Kamalabadi?!Join Esperanza! 09:51, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
