Writing a replacement page for Real Bills Doctrine[edit]

Hi! Andronico here!

As we have both noted, the page for the Real bills doctrine is pretty abysmal. The grotesque errors it still contains reflect badly on the state of economics and on the Wikipedia process. I hinted I might be interested in trying to rewrite the page from scratch. I have not created a Wikipedia page of this complexity before. I'm concerned to get it right and to avoid conflict with other editors.

I started putting in a few ideas here. I don't know whether you would be prepared to help me with the process of developing this and with a view to replacing the existing RBD page? I know other users had indicated their intention to sort out the page at various points in the past, including User:Stirling_Newberry and User:DelftUser, but the basic problems remain.

I hope I won't need a lot of help actually writing the page (I have a Ph.D. and 20 years in business, finance and economics). But the topic can lead to heated debate, particularly as it conflicts with contemporary teaching. So I may need support and backing during the process. You may be a conspiracy theorist but to suggest that May is lying based on one speculative report in a relatively insignificant newspaper (I read it quite often) is simply not acceptable. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. David Morris (Conservative politician)[edit]

You removed "... Morriss's trips were worth £17,994 in total and were the third highest valued of any MP's trips during the year following the 2017 general election ..." stating "third most isn't cited, figures (slightly) mismatch" - but, on the contrary, the illustration at the MPs sign up for £2m of free overseas trips reference (specifically this) shows exactly £17,994, and the amount is the third in the top ten list. However, you also stated "I'm not sure it's a great indication of notability either. Plenty of more important expenses issues covered, no need to WP:COATRACK everything else". On this you may well be right; the article was taking some liberties with that same reference to claim "Morris has been criticised for receiving a great many overseas trips paid for by others". @Dorsetonian: Thanks for the polite clarification. FWIW that article also cites the figure of £17894 for Morris' expenses in the text lower down the page which is where I saw it. Looks like it was the BBC rather than the original page editor that was sloppy though! You are also correct in noting the text taking some liberties with the alleged "great many" trips and "criticism" is what draw my attention to it. Frankly it looks like he's had enough more significant and better-publicised [alleged] expenses issues anyway so I think it's better leaving the article weighted towards them.
