Dorchester Town Football Club

Hi,

Again, welcome to wikipedia!

Clearly, you're a DTFC fan, and thus you'll be interested in improving it and related pages. I am an 'anon' (unregistered user), who has chosen not to maintain a wikipedia account (for reasons I am willing to discuss but won't bore you with now!). This means I am not, unfortunately, able to start new pages, e.g. Mark Morris (footballer) or The Avenue Stadium, or upload key images such as DTFC's crest. If you want to do any of that, great, if not, never mind.

Anyway, my current project is DTFC, and I'm basing it upon Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Clubs. If you co-operate, we can build a great article!

It's possible the Admin deleting the pages didn't read your message on the articles' talk pages, or alternatively may have deleted the pages for a different reason. I can't see who the Admin was to ask them though - contacting the deleting Admin would be my best suggestion otherwise.

However, rather than getting the articles undeleted and editing them, I'd suggest creating more encyclopedic articles: don't copy the tables directly from your website, but write paragraphs about the players, ensuring that they are from a neutral point of view (despite your support for the team) rather than bullet points in tables, and don't include the "question and answer" format of some of the information. See Michael Owen for an example of a well-structured article.

Blanking pages

I get the impression that you've blanked pages you started with the intention of replacing them with something better, but I wouldn't do that, personally. Blank pages look pretty silly and usually page-blankers are vandals (somebody might get the wrong idea about you). You might strip the article down to "X is a football (soccer) player for Dorchester Town F.C." until you finish a Wikipedia-style table or something, but I'd avoid the blank page thing. Re: this edit you made: [1], I would appreciate it if, when I have made a mistake in a comment I have made on a talk page, you point it out in a separate comment that you sign yourself, rather than directly rewriting what I have said. Modifying the content of others' comments on Wikipedia is generally frowned upon. Though I am sure you made that change in good faith and in this case it was only a minor change, I would prefer to be publicly wrong than have my knowledge misrepresented or my opinions rewritten in any way. Articles for deletion

Hi,

I'm a bit surprised that you haven't voted on the AfD for the articles you created (at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dorchester Town footballers). Just follow the link and click edit at the top-right. I hope the 'welcome' that you've had here doesn't put you off the project completely. Very short articles tend to be frowned on unless it's obvious that they'll be expanded later, so it might be better to expand the player articles to at least a decent paragraph if you create some more. I think merging them into the Current players section of the DTFC article would be best though - if any of the player descriptions get too long later you could always split them out when necessary. I've done this at F.C. United of Manchester and nobody has complained (yet - this is Wikipedia after all).

Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Wikiproject on non-league football

I've been thinking about creating a WikiProject for English non-league football, and am trying to find out if there's enough interest to make it worth doing. It would be useful to have somewhere for people who are interested in non-league football to have a place to discuss articles, and if there's enough interest we could get a monthly collaboration going with a view to getting non-league articles on the front page. It would be listed as a sub-project of WikiProject Football unless the members of that project objected strongly to it, and people would be able to join either or both (or neither) depending on what they were interested in. Some Advice

If you're taking the photos yourself, then you should license it under an appropriate Creative Commons license, depending on what you want to require people who use the photo to do. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Creative Commons Licenses for a list of CC licenses that Wikipedia allows.

As for the deleted photo, if you can give me the name of the picture, I can probably get it back. It might still be on Wikipedia, or I might have a copy on my hard drive. --Carnildo 08:06, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. The image (Image:Logobig.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Dtfcdev. This image or media will be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. This does not necessarily mean that the image is being deleted, or that the image is being removed from other pages. It is only being removed from the page mentioned above. Fair use rationale for Image:Evesham.jpg

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. Thanks for uploading Image:Evesham.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
